"Come on, Lara. You need to tell me what's going on with you."
"Nothing mom. I am fine," she grumbled.
"This is what you keep saying but you have been acting weird."
"Mom, I am fine. I just have a little headache. That's all."
"If you insist, but please come down for dinner. Tina should be rounding up with the cooking."
"Okay," she said, knowing fully well that she was not interested in eating.
She didn't mean to seem rude or anything. Lara has been feeling off for a while now but she did not exactly know what was wrong with her. She just was not in the mood to talk to anyone or associate with any of her friends.
Lara was a very beautiful girl who turned necks wherever she goes because of how beautiful she was. Which was not a surprise because Lara's mother was a gorgeous woman. Lara's parents were extremely wealthy. She had just clocked twenty last year on the 14th of August and her parents didn't fail to throw her a massive birthday party. Lara was treated like a princess by her father, as she was the only child of the rich and famous Williams Timothy. It was safe to call Lara, 'A daddy's girl'. She got everything she wanted without questions. Even in school, all of her friends knew better to respect and adore her. She was not a bully, neither was she an arrogant bitch. She was in fact the opposite of those things, Lara Williams was a sweet and loving person with a beautiful personality. Her friends loved and adore her because of the benefits they got from her.
Lara did not really have any close friends. They were mostly her course mates whose purpose of being friends with her was all for the material benefits.
"Miss, should I bring up your dinner?" Tina, a petite lady in her early twenties who was their help, asked.
"No, I am not hungry Tina. Can you make a cup of tea for me instead?" Lara inquired.
"Yes miss."
"Tina, I have told you to just call me Lara."
"Okay miss," Tina answered but instantly covered her mouth with her palm.
Tina gave her a disapproving look.
"I am sorry," Tina apologized, looking down to her feet.
"It's fine Tina. I just want you to feel comfortable talking to me. I don't bite," Lara smiled warmly at her.
"Okay," Tina replied quietly and smiled back at her.
"Now, say my name," Lara probed while smiling.
"Lara," Tina smiled, shyly.
"Good girl," Lara praised and they both bursted into a laugh. Tina left to get her little madam a cup of tea as requested. Lara's mood surprisingly lifted after her interaction with Tina. She laid back on her soft bed.
Lara's bedroom was made to perfectly fit her personality. Her favorite color was purple. As you enter the room, you are are immediately struck by the dominant color scheme of purple that seems to envelop everything. The walls are painted in various shades of purple, from a deep plum to a soft lavender, and are adorned with paintings and posters that feature purple flowers.
The bed is the centerpiece of the room, and it is covered with soft purple sheets and a fluffy comforter. The pillows are a mix of solids and patterns in different shades of purple, adding depth and texture to the bed.
A lavish seating area was nestled in one corner of the room, consisting of plush sofas and armchairs, perfect for lounging in comfort. The room was a true reflection of Lara's impeccable taste and extravagance.
"Here's your tea miss...sorry Lara. I'm sorry it's going to take a while to get used to calling your name," Tina offered an apology.
"It's fine Tina. Erhhhmm," Lara trailed off, as she sat up with her back against the headboard of her velvety bed.
"What is it Lara? Do you need me to help you with anything?" Tina asked, worry etched on her face after seeing the nervous expression that Lara probably did not know she had.
"Can I ask you for a favor?"
"Anything you want Lara."
"Can you sit with me for a while?"
"Of course, but first let me turn off the gas. I'll be right back."
Lara nodded her head slowly and Tina dashed off to turn off the gas before the peppered turkey on the fire gets burnt. Not that anyone would even notice since they had all had dinner, but Tina didn't want to mess around even when no one is watching.
"I am back," Tina announced. "Is everything okay?"
"I just wanted to talk to you about something that has been bothering me."
"Go on, Lara. Talk to me."
"Please sit down," Lara advised, patting the space next to her on her bed.
"No worries. I am fine standing. Besides, I am not sure if I am allowed to sit on your bed."
"Come on, Tina. It's okay. I am the one asking you to."
"Okay," Tina sat at the edge of the bed, hesitantly.
Lara coughed a little to clear up her throat and Tina was so eager to hear what it was that Lara wanted to say.
"I have been having some kind of weird dreams," Lara confessed.
"Weird dreams? Here I was thinking this whole talk was about a boy you have a crush on," Tina wiggled her brows at Lara.
Lara sighed and started to doubt her decisions about telling Tina. She suddenly felt tensed, like she had over shared. She was used to bottling up her feelings. She sat up and said dismissing Tina, "You know what, forget I said anything. I will be fine."
"Lara," Tina called with a soft smile on her face. Lara looked up at Tina and immediately relaxed. "If the dreams were not bothering you, you wouldn't have called me to talk about it in the first place. I may not be able to help you but I can listen to you. So feel free to tell me anything."
"Okay," Lara breathed.
"So how often do you have these dreams?" Tina inquired.
"It is very frequent. I don't know. I just feel like it's not normal. I always wake up scared and disoriented. In fact those are not dream, they are nightmares."
"What is this dream all about?"
"Creatures. Strange creatures that I don't recognize."
