Ivy.
"So you're on my seat, but I will let you have it because you look new, and you don't know anyone here…this is me being nice to a stranger right now" A feminine voice squeaks, I know they are talking to me because I'm the odd one out, I joined in three weeks after the beginning of the semester.
I purse my lips and look up, only to see a ridiculously familiar face. She is tall with long red hair and her skin is of a chalky white color, and I can't help but stare. Is she human? How does she pull off this all-white-skin with such glamour?
Her eyes are a cobalt blue and I think she is wearing contacts, moving on her lips are glossed over, and she is pouting right now.
I'm caught off guard as I try to remember where I had seen her, it wouldn't be in my dreams, right? We have a stare down until she curves her lips into a smile. The contagious type of smiles, so I smile back, sheepishly.
I have no idea what is going on.
"Hey, I'm Eve, you're?" She asks, leaning against the table.
"Ivy". I respond curtly, I prefer not to make friends anytime soon, it is better to stay in the Ivy bubble for a little while longer.
"Ivy?, strange name" Another girl appears out of nowhere and stands behind Eve.
She sneaks a look at me over Eve's shoulder, She seems familiar too, where did I see these people. It Must have been at that diner or something. It is the only way to explain this.
"I… Umh, I know" I smile, awkwardly.
What does she mean, weird? And Eve is not?
My eyes travel to the girl standing behind Eve, she has such a diminutive figure. Her dirty brown bangs cover most of her face, and she pushes them aside, the moment she realizes I'm staring. Her eyes are a concentrated dark brown, and it's hard to look away.
"You're making her uncomfortable, Leah," Eve nudges the friend slightly. "Pardon my best friend, she doesn't really have manners"
I can only nod and smile, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say; Yay! I can relate? Nope, I cannot relate I don't have a best friend, never had one, and I hope in the future, the universe does not dare to give me one.
Eve sighs, she is about to sit but immediately looks out the window and I can tell her nerves are excited. She peeps out.
"Hey Dick face!" She shouts, and my jaw automatically drops, like it is a reflex or something when, in the actual sense; I don't know what hit me.
I follow her eyes out the window, I'm curious to see Dick face. Among the three guys, one turns and gives her a middle finger—I'm stunned. These people are using vulgar language on school grounds? How?
My eyes do not leave the young man—who I just learned is Dick face. Black jeans and a corresponding black shirt clings to his body perfect. Like a model from a vogue magazine, he concludes the look with a black, leather jacket and black boots—please don't tell me he owns a bike. It's so cliché.
Did I mention how his dark, shiny hair is tousling over his forehead?
Maybe, he does own a bike after all.
"Mrs Sinclair, please take your seat" the show is cut short by a man's voice. I avert my eyes from Dick face to the man In front of the class.
"Call me" Eve whispers, which doesn't sound like a whisper because her voice is sharp. "I'm sorry, Mr. Andrews" She finally settles in the seat next to me.
Just wow. In my previous school, you can never do that—never, ever.
The next three to four hours, I'm occupied with classes, from French, philosophy and Art to Math, English, and biology. I double-checked my timetable twice because I shared almost all the classes with Eve and Leah—they wouldn't stop talking. They even caused our French teacher to label me as the 'noisy newbie' because of them.
I walk out of the classroom Lazily, it's lunch hour and I search to find the cafeteria. This is such a big place, and they didn't even give me a map—how rude.
I made sure to carry my own lunch, hoping it is allowed. I don't see myself eating food from the cafeteria, I mean, what if they usually add some blood to the diet for their 'vamps academy babies?' Eww.
My stomach tightens at the thought and I know I'm a second away from puking, I lose my appetite immediately and put away my lunch box.
"Hey Ives!"
"Hi…it's Ivy" I force a smile.
Eve just flickers her eyes at me as if I am not making any sense. " Okay. Would you like to sit with us at lunch?" She asks after defeating me to a silent stare battle.
I nod and follow her and Leah, I wait for them as they grab their food.
"Are you not eating?" Leah turns to me.
I blink for a minute and grab an apple, I rotate it in my hand, and she nods with approval. Nice save there, It would look weird if I did not eat anything.
The table is empty, but the cafeteria is flooded, some kids are even eating while standing -but this table is empty. I figure it's something to do with level's and stuff, I look around uncomfortably and meet eyes with this blonde girl, she winks at me and I look away—flustered.
What the hell is that?
Within a few minutes, some guys join us, I recognize two of them from earlier - they were with Dick face. One of them plants a kiss on Leah's lips. I look away immediately and focus on my phone. This right here defines me being lost.
"Hey" One of the guys greets me, he has piercings on his eyebrows, nose and under the bottom lip, I can only imagine inside his shirt.
"Hey" I wave quietly, trying hard not to attract attention to me. Just another boring new girl in school.
"Where's he?" Eve asks the guy who just kissed Leah.
"Behind you" he states and goes back to Leah's lips, how addictive are those lips? I wonder.
Recovering from it, I take a sneaky look at who Eve is asking about. It's him—Dick face.
He glances at me and I look away, what is wrong with me?
He whispers something into Eve's ear, and she giggles. "Excuse us guys" Eve says.
"Don't be gross" Leah waves her off.
The next fifteen to twenty minutes is focused on Leah, who is kissing her boyfriend every after five minutes—which is cute and disturbing. I force my eyes to stay on my phone until I can't take it anymore. I need to go.
"Um … Leah… I will go back to class now" I hesitate.
She pauses and, like she is just realizing that I have been here the whole time, her eyebrows marry, and she looks at me. "Are you sure? Won't be bored all by yourself?"
I am bored right now!
"No, there's something I have to do. See you" I walk back slowly to the classroom area. The hallway is flooding with students as usual, staring and gossiping. It feels like everyone is really staring at me, and it makes me quicken my strides towards the classes.
I take a deep breath the moment I finally reach the door to my classroom, I push it open and At that moment, I regret leaving the cafeteria as soon as my eyes meet Eve's.
Go away!
I tell myself immediately, but my body can't move, it is as if it is frozen, and I can't feel my legs. I can only feel my eyes bulging, wider with each second. Furthermore, I want to look away, but I can't.
Take it in. Eve is seated on top of a desk and Dick face—it's crazy how I'm able to recognize him from the back, is standing between her wide open legs. Do you see why it's hard to look away?
Dick face is slowly kissing on Eve's neck, and she doesn't fail to make those weird, pleasure sounds. She giggles and places a hand to her mouth the moment she notices I am not leaving.
Pushing the guy away, she jumps off the desk and fixes her hair and dress. "Ives, I didn't know you were there" she laughs.
I smile. What the hell am I doing here, why did I even come here?, these guys were seriously making out—in a classroom?
Dick face, on the other hand, doesn't seem affected by this because he only groans and grabs his jacket. "Hi" he says, walking past me, Our shoulder's brush aggressively, and I am pushed to the side. Wow
Before, I can return the gesture, he leaves.
Rude.
But what is at hand now is just how embarrassed I feel, walking in on people who are making out, and the funny part is they are not
fazed by it. Well, it bothers me.
"I'm sorry" I apologize to Eve.
"Don't worry about it…" she giggles, just how bubbly does this girl get?
The siren goes off and she looks at me. "What are you having next?"
"I am going to have to check" I responded, taken aback by just how fast she brushed it off.
"I'm off to history then, see you later" she jolts out of the classroom, applying lip gloss on her lips. It must have all been kissed out, all of it.
"Now I have to live with this" I murmur to myself. "Damn it."
