Chereads / She Came To Stay / Chapter 6 - 6. Run along

Chapter 6 - 6. Run along

Ivy.

I force a smile as I approach Eve and the group, they all seem to have turned and are now staring at me. I feel uncomfortable, but what did I expect wearing this to school? It's not like I'm the only one wearing a short skirt, but the fact that I'm the new girl and I appear slutty on my second day of school is, in fact, disturbing.

"Hi" I smile, finally standing in a spot around the circle.

"Hey, Ives, well, you look hot" Eve compliments, looking at my outfit.

"What happened to you?" Leah asks, I look at her, of course the boyfriend is standing next to her with his hand entangled in hers.

Love sweet love.

"You brought some fire with you" the guy with the piercings speaks as well, it's like every one is pouring out their minds and I don't even know how to respond.

They keep talking about my outfit and I make the grave mistake of all times, I know I shouldn't, but I'm curious. He is the only one who did not say anything about my outfit, hell, he didn't even say anything to me. Our eyes meet, and I hold my breath, he has smoky brown eyes which appear black from a distance, they're boring into mine and I feel like I'm dissolving under his calculative gaze. It's as though he wonders who am I and why his friends trust me. Too soon.

"Hi," a voice whisper's to me and my eyebrows furrow, At that moment he averts his gaze to Eve, and as though showing me how much I'm lonely—he wraps his hand around Eve's shoulder.

Great.

"By the way, have I introduced you to my friends?" Eve asks, she is loud and basically the only one talking.

I shake my head, no.

I'd really like to know them—especially him.

"Well this is Leah, my best friend, that is Jaden her boyfriend if it's not clear yet," she pauses and rolls her eyes. Oh, so they all know how lovie-dovie these two are.

"This is Sebastian, he is single and loves piercings," Sebastian waves at me and sucks on the piercing under his bottom lip, gross. I'm not a fan of those, I hate pain.

"This is Karen, she doesn't like people" The girl with chocolate brown skin only looks at me and smirks—okay?

"There's more of us, some are not here yet. Anyway this is Adam, my boyfriend" she says and looks at the so-called Adam, she kisses his lips passionately, and I want to look away, but I can't, somehow taken aback… So, yesterday was real, I found them screwing, and they're okay with that?

"Are those nicknames?" The question which has been lingering in my head finally escapes my lips.

They all turn to me like that is the stupidest question they have ever heard, yeah, me too.

"Us? No," Eve looks at her boyfriend. "Should I tell her?"

Tell me what?

The boy only shrugs. His black shiny hair is never going to be in order because it is tousling over his forehead, and it's disturbing. His dark eyes seem sleepy and sexy—no, I did not mean that. He is wearing dark jeans and a dark shirt. Is he always wearing black? Finally, he look at me, but with such distaste.

Definitely not going to be best friends.

"We are the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs Sinclair" Eve announces with such pride.

Um…

"You're getting married?" I ask, there's no way to mask the shock on my face. I can only imagine how my eyes are popping out.

"Yes, but not now silly, when we graduate."

"And your parents approve? How?" I cry out. What kind of parents can be this stupid and careless with their kids?

"Oh honey, they approved when we were babies" Eve smiles.

No way.

Are these people real? Are they okay in the head? Do they need help? "Why would they do that?" Now I'm shocked beyond reasoning.

Eve shrugs. "Because-"

"Okay, show is over. Run along," Adam speaks—for the first time, and it is cold, deep, cocky, arrogant and insanely annoying.

I narrow my eyes at him, but he holds my gaze. No.

"Go" his voice rings in my head. Did he just tell me to go? Am I imagining things? I blink. I need to stop doing this.

"Baby don't do that, she doesn't have any friends" Eve stands up for me, and it's pathetic because I can do it myself, but I choose to play victim. I am pathetic.

"Whose fault is it? She will make some soon" Adam says, in a low tone, but he knows I can hear him. Why is he doing this?

The bell goes off and I'm lucky. That was close. I seriously was going to give him a piece of my mind if he kept doing that—okay, I'm bluffing, but still, it was rude, and I hated him even more each second that passed.

"I will see you tonight" Eve whispers to Adam before placing a Judas kiss on his cheeks. She tugs her arm in mine and Leah's as we make our way to the first class.

Even with all the long and distressful history essay's, I can't stop thinking about Adam. Not in a good way, don't start gushing, I actually want to strangle him to death if I can. Why is he mean to me? He barely knows me, and it's irking to think someone would just wake up and choose to be violent with a total stranger.

"We are having a party tonight, you should come you know" Eve whispers to me as soon as the teacher turns to the other side.

We are currently having history and I must confess I can't get anything she is saying. She is probably in her late forties, she appears tired but with the faked enthusiasm. They should retire her ass.

"I don't do parties" I whisper back.

"In other words, she is a jerk" Leah joins in.

Does she hate me too?

"Don't be a bum, it will be fun" Eve convinces me.

"Eve, you know how dangerous it is, don't drag her into this." Karen, oh! Karen, finally speaks. Her voice is deep like that of a man, and astonished is an understatement for what I feel.

"She can speak" I turn to Karen with a wide open mouth.

"She will be safe" Eve says with much conviction.

I seriously have no idea what they're talking about, what Could possibly go wrong at a teenage party? Drinking and doing weed and going wild? Sounds like a straightforward thing to me.

"You can't guarantee that, you know how Hermis gets with this," Leah states and Eve only glares at her. "I'm not apologizing for it, you will not put her life in da-"

"Enough!" Eve hits the table and I flinch, seems like I'm not the only one who heard that because the entire class turns to our side of the room. Good job Eve, very nice work.

"Mrs Sinclair, can you keep it down?" The old woman in front speaks, her voice is low and sounds pretty dangerous at this point. Does she own cats? Sure looks like one who does.

"I'm sorry Ms parker" Eve apologizes with a small smile on her face. How did she go from angry to smiley? This is called talent.

"Leah, I get your point and I assure you nothing will happen to her"

"I'm not in on this Vee, you're on your own" Leah states and glues her eyes to her phone screen.

"It's going to be fun and I will be with you the whole time" Eve proceeds to persuade me.

After that talk with her friends, she still wants me to go? Why did she want me to go this badly, she even disagreed with her best friend for this.

"Please."

Her hand is on top of mine and her blue eyes are silently pleading with me. I ask the second-stupidest question my brain can come up with.

"Will there be vampire's at the party?"

Seriously?
