Chapter 4 - Black is the New White

Kira felt a vein pop in his head. He glared at Inna, wondering how he could fix this mess. 'Gods damn this woman.' He thought to himself. It took him a moment to respond, but he eventually spoke. "Ahem. That's not entirely true, though it does help specific kingdoms in recruiting talented youth. After-all, who doesn't want to work with a strong kingdom? As for this tournament business, I will speak with the headmaster about this. This is truly a good idea."

Inna smirked. Truthfully, she didn't say it because she actually cared. She merely spoke because she thought it would be funny, and the reaction Kira had was totally worth it.

Kira turned around and continued. He led the students to a massive gateway that was glowing with white runes. "This is the entrance to the main hall. In the main hall, you will find tutor requests, gathering requests, and simple things like that. Completing a request can earn you money, some rare material, or even help you gain extra credit." Kira turned and walked through the gate, all of the students followed after him. Inna merely wanted to get to her room. She was getting annoyed. Though, impatient as she was, she still followed them.

Kira led them through the main hall. It was a massive dome-like shape. A beautiful chandelier hung from the ceiling. On the wall to the left of the entrance gate, there was an ethereal board that seemed to glow a soft white. Inna had deduced that it was the request board, and Kira confirmed it moments later. The area around the request board was littered with various chairs and sofas. It was clearly a lounge area. Inna fully took advantage of it. She had very little patience.

Kira turned around to answer any questions someone might have and he inwardly blanched. He noticed Inna was roughly three meters behind everyone lying on a couch. Truly, he wondered 'what he did to deserve such a demoness in this life?' Had Inna have heard him, she would have scoffed. Her, a demoness? As if she was one of those grotesque creatures. He didn't even bother with Inna, and just let her lie there while he continued his tour. "Does anyone have any questions?" A younger man was the first to speak.

"Are there any requirements to the various requests?"

Kira nodded. "Indeed. The requirements can range anywhere from a specific soul rank to a class specialization or even a profession. It entirely depends on whoever put the request up. Each request posted will note all requirements, if there is any. Does anyone else have any questions?"

Inna was lying down on a sofa. Her legs dangling over the one side. Kira smiled although his eyes were alight with annoyance. He continued after a few moments.

"Alright then, Let's continue." Inna hesitantly moved from the sofa, and Kira began leading everyone throughout the campus. The classrooms were relatively simple. Large rooms with a podium at the bottom. The seats were benches that started low and raised in elevation the further back you went. It was designed this way to give everyone a good view of the teacher's podium.

The next area that was introduced was the dining hall. It was simple in its design. One would sit down at a table, and sort of order from a magical invention built in to the table. The food would be teleported to the table directly from the kitchen. Kira explained a bit more when asked, but Inna hadn't cared about it all that much. She had seen far more grand inventions than this. She was pretty sure that she could recreate it herself if she truly wanted.

'At long last' Inna thought, as Kira pointed out the dorms. The building housing the women was on the left side of the campus, whereas the building housing the men was on the right side. When it was revealed that each room had two occupants, Inna frowned. She scowled when it was revealed that the roommates were already assigned. Nonetheless, Inna resigned herself to this fate. Despite the fact that she could very easily destroy the whole campus, Inna played along nicely. As nicely as she could, anyway.

Inna was assigned room number 13, and was given a room card. It was another piece of technology, though it's function entirely different from the cafeteria's. Each card is associated with a door. The cards themselves dematerialize and leave a sort of "imprint" on you. Once the card is imprinted, you can open the corresponding door. Only one person per card, and only two cards per door. Needless to say, this is to prevent any potential break-ins and any other criminal acts. Kira didn't go too into detail on these cards. He only stated that there was a method to remove the imprint, but did not state how to create a new one.

Once Inna had her card imprinted, she immediately entered to dormitory and walked directly to her room. She opened the door and cringed when she saw her room.

Everything was white, and any accents in the room was golden in color. She cringed at almost everything she saw. Her face was twisted in a grimace, as she sucked in a breath of air. Her voice was strained. "Oh. Oh no. nonononono. It's too bright. Everything is white! WHY IS EVERYTHING WHITE?! ITS SO BRIGHT IN HERE." Her voice started out in a whisper, and gradually built up until she was practically yelling.

Inna passed through the open door and stood unmoving in the middle of the room. Her void black eyes were seemingly swirling. A dainty voice seemed to speak behind her.

"Are..are you alright..?" The voice emanated from a short girl with long fiery red hair. Her hair seemed to splay out over her shoulders like rogue flames. Her eyes were a warm green, and her face was plastered with a friendly smile. She seemed warm and kind, maybe a touch naive. She looked to be no older than 20, and was short for her age. She stood at around 5'1". (In comparison, Inna stood at around 6'.)

The girl's voice snapped Inna out of it, and she turned around and faced her. "I would be okay, but everything is so bright. Don't you know that black is the new white? I definitely cannot allow this travesty of non-existent color to exist."

The red haired girl chuckled softly and entered the room. "If you say so. I'm Ember Ignis, of House Ignis. What's your name?" She smiled softly as she spoke, trying to be as cordial as possible.

Inna looked at her curiously. "Inna (Pronounced: Ee-na)." She shook her head and smiled. "Just Inna. I'm just me, no one else. That's all I have to be."
