Amid the screams that grew louder in her head, there was still a silent voice prompting her to save herself. She opened her eyes slowly and with moistened gaze, she scanned the dark room that was now lit up by the growing fire with a reddish-orange glow.
Since the room was filled with boxes, the fire could spread faster. She squinted her gaze and caught sight of a little window at the far end of the corner. Her chest heaved up and down with an unsteady pace and her breath was caught up in her throat. She felt that her head was like a large field with stampeding horses.
"Cough... cough..." the smoke made it hard to breath and irritated her eyes and it brought fresh tears down her face.
Finding the last strength she could muster, she staggered towards the window trying her best to avoid the fire. On reaching the window, she found out that it was locked and whichever strength she used to push it, it wouldn't budge.
