The Hero and Kulana lay on their coconut husk cots, sleeping well after the nights delicious meal. Arkanos sat on a rock near the site, looking out to the ocean and the sky, watching as the stars shifted and turned as if each was a living being moving on with their day. He sighed, closing his eye and remembering the past life he had once known, a life that was eons ago, where he would have been dead a hundred times over if he had not been turned into the god he was now. He remembered all of the friends he had, and how so few of them survived the Dark Night. He opened his eye and gazed upward, seeing a face through all of the shining stars. "Phrea, how I miss you so. Please, send me a sign that I'll gaze upon your beautiful face and hear your soothing voice in person once more?" He muttered, his voice filled with desperation. He had been isolated on this planet for far to long; he lost count after the first few centuries. His brother had been exiled as well, although it was for a different reason than Arkanos.
Suddenly, he heard something disturb the silence of the night. He turned, looking over the two islanders and seeing that their coconut related items had gone missing: their cots, their equipment, parts of their ship, their clothing. Arkanos stood up and looked around, trying to find any trace of what had just came through the camp and how neither the Hero or Kulana had woke up. He decided to focus on crafting the two something to cover themselves. He walked by Kulana and noticed something sticking out of her neck. Studying the object further, he saw that it was a dart made from coconut. Plucking the dart out of her neck, he smelled it, only to recoil shortly after, almost throwing the dart away. His nostrils had been assaulted with the foulest of smells, and he knew what substances were just shot into Kulana and the Hero.
"Tranquilizer..." He threw the dart into the sand and continued to look for something to cover the two up. He grabbed some branches from the nearby palm trees and fashioned a pa'u for Kulana, placing it over her body. He then made the Hero a malo and placed it over his waist. He took the coconut dart out of him and studied it as well, smelling the same substance that was on the one Kulana had. He pocketed it and moved towards the forest, searching for any small tracks.
Kneeling where the sand melded with the grass, he saw small little circles imprinted in the dirt, leading into the forest. by how many circles covered the ground, he assumed that there were at least ten of the little freaks. Either it was a small colony of the little freaks, or it was worse...
His train of thought was broken when he heard the sounds of stirring, turning around to see Kulana shifting on the floor. He approached her and shook her awake. "Kulana, wake up." Hearing the fallen gods words, Kulana's eyes fluttered open and Arkanos could see that she struggled to keep them open. She began to get up, not realizing that her clothing was not attached to her body. Arkanos stopped her before her chest was revealed.
"Arkanos... what are you..." The priestess struggled to speak, her eye lids slowly falling. She then looked down seeing that her coconut garments had been removed, and Arkanos could swear that her tanned face turned a deep red. She then returned her face to Arkanos, her arms reaching up and clutching the makeshift clothing to her body. "Arkanos.....where are my coconut garments?"
Arkanos stood up and turned to the forest once more. "Something took them, as well as all of our coconut related items." Kulana took the chance to put on her makeshift pa'u, covering up her body. She stood up fully, groaning in discomfort as she was not accustomed to the material the outfit was crafted from. "We need to get out stuff back."
"What exactly took our things?" Kulana asked, closing the distance between Arkanos and herself. Once she was right behind him, he began moving, following something that she couldn't see. Confused, she looked back to the Hero, who was dead asleep. The dart had not really affected him in any way; he was already in a deep sleep when the dart owners had shot him. She sighed, turning back around to follow Arkanos.
"I hope it isn't who I believe to be, but..." Arkanos stopped for a moment, turning to Kulana and studying her for a moment. "Do you have your knife?" She reached under the pa'u and pulled out the stone knife. Arkanos grabbed it with his golden arm and ran his pinky along the "edge", altering the knife. Once he was done, he handed it back, and she saw that the stone knife was sharper now, incredibly sharp. It also had a golden hue to it, even though there was no sign that any of his finger had been removed. "Come on, we need to hurry before they make more." He rushed through the forest, disturbing the wildlife as he ran. Kulana, still confused, followed, the soft grass and dirt feeling nice against her bare feet, calming her somewhat.
"What exactly are we looking for, Ark-" She stopped her question when she thought she heard the sounds of celebration deeper into the forest. Arkanos seemed to have heard the cheering as well, and sped up. The two ran through the forest towards the disturbance till they reached a clearing, the forest opening up to reveal what was causing the commotion.
A large celebration of sorts with a massive pile of coconuts and coconut related items in the center of the party. The ones celebrating were small creatures that appeared to wear coconuts. The party turned to face the two people who had entered the opening. Kulana focused on the little coconut critters and the only word that popped into her head was: cute.
Arkanos sighed, pulling out his sword, ready for battle. "Lovely, out of all the children on this world, these are my least favorite. Bloody little parasites..." The little creatures began to panic, running around and grabbing weapons.
"Uh, what are these things?" Kulana asked, readying her knife.
"These little things are Cocofiends, and they steal all things coconut." He growled, seeing the massive horde form in front of him. "This is gonna be one hell of a fight."
