Emma POV
Emma couldn't believe how big Logan's house was. She thought theirs was big, but wow, his was even bigger. Logan told her that his bedroom was on the second floor, well their bedroom now. That excited her. It was going to take some getting used to not having to be stuck living on one floor. Even though she would still be on bedrest for the next week, the doctor did say she could take small walks, and he didn't say they had to be on one floor. She was sure that Logan would help her down the stairs to walk around.
They walked in the front door and a tall, thin woman who looked to be about sixty came up to them.
"Welcome home Alpha. Miss Emma. How are you feeling?" she asked Emma.
"I feel better, thank you." Emma replied.
"My name is Patricia, if you need anything, anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask." Patricia said.
"Thank you, Patricia. Actually, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could I get something to eat? I'm starving."
"Absolutely. What would you like?" Patricia asked.
"I'm not picky, as long as it's good." Emma said as she laughed.
Patricia smiled at Emma. "I think I can handle that. Go get settled in and I will bring you up something in a few minutes." and she turned and walked away towards the kitchen.
Logan led her up the stairs to his bedroom and opened up the door. She expected his room to be big, but not this big. She could fit her old bedroom in his three times, and her old room was a pretty good size itself. He had a big king size bed in the middle of the room, a bar area to the right as you walk in the room, two big chairs sitting in front of the fireplace, two more sitting beside a table in front of the big bay window, a huge television hung over the fireplace, and a shelf filled with books sat on the other side of the bar area.
Well, at least bedrest won't seem so boring here, she thought to herself. If she gets bored of watching movies, she can read. She loved to read and had quite a few books in her old room, but she hadn't had a new book in a long time and the books she had, she had already read them several times.
She pulled away from Logan and walked over to the bookshelf. There were a lot of books that she hadn't read, and the ones that she had looked just like the ones she had in her old room. She pulled one of them from the shelf. Wait a minute, she thought, this is my book. She turned around and looked at Logan, he was sitting on the bed watching her.
"This is my book from my old room." she said.
"Yes, it is. While you were in the hospital, I called your dad and had him have all of your stuff packed up and I went and got it and brought it home for you. I thought having some of your stuff here when you got home would help you be a little more comfortable." he told her.
She placed the book back on the shelf and walked over to him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.
"Thank you. That was so incredibly thoughtful, and yes it does help." she said.
"I will do anything in this world for you. Now, let's get you in bed and get you comfortable." Logan said as he stood up. He put his arm around her waist and led her to the other side of the bed. He pulled down the blanket and helped her get in the bed. He bent down and pulled her shoes off for her.
"Logan, I can take off my shoes." Emma laughed.
He kissed her on her cheek. "Of course, you can sweetheart. But just because you can doesn't mean that I'm not going to do it for you."
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." Logan said.
Patricia walked in carrying a tray of food. Emma's mouth watered at the smell. Oh, it smells so good, she thought. Patricia brought the tray over and sat it on the bedside table next to Emma.
"If you don't like it, let me know and I will bring you something else." Patricia told Emma.
"Oh, I am sure I will like it. It smells so delicious." Emma said.
"I didn't think to ask what you would want to drink, so I just brought you some tea. If you would rather have something else, I can go get it really quick."
"That's ok Patricia, tea is fine. I like tea." Emma told her.
"If you want more to eat, or if you need anything else, just let me know."
"I will and thank you."
Patricia nodded and walked out of the room. Emma went to pick up the tray but Logan beat her to it.
"I will get it, just hang on a second." he told her. "Lean up so I can fix the pillows behind you."
She did as he said and he stacked the pillows behind her so when she leaned back, she would be more comfortable. He placed the tray on her lap and then walked around to the other side of the bed and picked up the remote to the television and handed it to her.
"I have to go handle some pack business and I will be gone for a few hours. I hate to leave you already but it's important, otherwise I wouldn't even go. There is the remote for the tv. When you get done eating, just put your tray on the able. Do you have your phone?" he asked.
She nodded her head. "It's in my bag."
Logan walked over to where he sat her bag down at and got her phone out of it along with the charger. He turned on the screen and saved Patricia's number to her phone, then he plugged the charger in to the wall and plugged her phone on the charger.
"I put Patricia's number in your phone. When you are done eating, just call her and she will either come get your tray or send someone up to get it. The bathroom is through that door, if you get dizzy then sit back down and call Patricia and she will come help you."
"Ok. But you really don't have to worry so much." she said.
He brushed his fingers down the side of her cheek.
"Of course I do." he told her. "I will be back as soon as I can. Call me or text me if you need me." He leaned down and gently kissed her lips, savoring the way she tasted.
"I will." she said, her heart fluttering in her chest. She loved the way she felt every time he kissed her, the sparks that shot through her skin every time he touched her.
She turned on the television and found a movie to watch as she ate her food. Patricia had brought her some pot roast that was soaked in gravy, some mashed potatoes, and carrots, and some bread. There was enough on the plate for two people. Emma laughed to herself. She did tell Patricia she was starving. She picked up the fork and got some of the roast and put it in her mouth. As soon as it hit her tongue, she groaned with pleasure. That roast tasted ten times better than it smelled. It was so tender, it practically melted in her mouth. She barely had to chew it.
She ate every bit of food that was on the plate. She was so stuffed. She was full halfway through but it was so good, she couldn't stop eating. She put the tray on the table and picked up her phone and called Patricia to let her know that she was done and also asked her if she could come and get it herself because she wanted to speak with her. A few minutes later, Patricia was knocking on the door.
"Come in please." Emma called out.
Patricia walked through the door and over to the table and picked up the tray. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"Who cooked that pot roast?" Emma asked her.
"I did. Did you like it?" she really didn't have to ask seeing as the plate was empty. Patricia was surprised to find that Emma had eaten all of the food, she didn't think that Emma would have been able to.
"Like it? I loved it!" Emma said.
"Thank you." Patricia replied.
"But what I wanted to talk to you about, when I am allowed off bedrest, and if you have time and are able, could you possibly teach me how to cook? I would really like to be able to make something that tastes that good." Emma said.
"If Alpha Logan doesn't mind then I would be honored to teach you." Patricia said.
"I don't think he will mind, and if he does, I will just have to change his mind." Emma said jokingly.
Patricia laughed. "Well, you will find out that Alpha Logan can be pretty stubborn. But if there is anyone that could change his mind, it is going to be you. Is there anything else you need?"
"Some more tea would be great, if it's not too much trouble." Emma said.
"It's no trouble at all. I will send Vicki up with some more for you. I am also going to assign her to you that way if you need help doing anything, she will be close, just in case I can't get up here right away."
"You really don't have to do that. I feel like I'm such a burden." Emma was about to cry, which didn't go unnoticed by Patricia.
Patricia sat the tray back down on the table and sat on the bed beside Emma. She placed her hand on Emma's arm. "Emma, please don't ever think that you are a burden. Not only is it our job to take care of you, but we take care of you because we want to."
Emma couldn't hold back the tears that fell down her cheeks.
"Please don't cry." Patricia told her.
"I'm just not used to always having someone around and taking care of me all the time." Emma told her.
"Alpha Logan told us about how your father kept you on the top floor of your old house and how you were just about always alone. It won't be like that for you here. I know it will take some getting used to and it's a big adjustment, but that's what we are here for, to help. You are our future Luna, my dear. You won't be alone again."
Emma was fully sobbing like a baby at this point and Patricia wrapped her arms around Emma and gave her a hug. She never had someone so genuinely nice to her. Her parent's staff had always been cordial to her, but only because they had to be. They didn't actually care. She put her arms around Patricia and hugged her back.
"This will definitely take some getting used to." Emma said and they both laughed. Patricia pulled away from her and wiped the hair out of Emma's face.
"You will." she told Emma.
"I don't know if I will ever get used to having more than one person actually care. I think a part of me will always feel like I am a burden. My parent's staff didn't really talk much. Most of the time, they just brought my food and left. Stephanie was the only one that ever really talked to me."
"Well, you aren't. You are a blessing." Patricia told her, and with that, fresh tears streamed down Emma's face.
"Nobody has ever told me that I was a blessing." Emma said.
"You truly are. Now, enough tears. Lay down and get some rest. I will send Vicki up with some more tea. Is there anything in particular that you would like for dinner?" Patricia asked her.
Emma groaned. She was so stuffed she couldn't even think about food right now.
"Whatever you make will be fine with me." she told Patricia.
"Get some rest now." Patricia said. She stood up and picked the tray off the table and walked out of the room.
Emma already deeply cared for Patricia. She didn't know what it was like to have a grandmother, but she imagined it would be something like that. She had just about dozed off when she heard another knock on the door.
"Come in." Emma said and she sat up in the bed. A young girl, who looked to be in her early to mid 20s, came in with a glass of tea.
"You must be Vicki." Emma said.
"Yes ma'am. Miss Patricia asked me to bring this to you, she also wants me to stay close by in case you need help with anything." Vicki said.
"Thank you, Vicki. I was actually going to take a nap. I ate too much and now I'm stuffed and sleepy." Emma told her.
"That's easy to do when you are eating Miss Patricia's food." Vicki chuckled. "Well, if you need anything, just let either Miss Patricia or me know."
"Thank you, and I will." Emma said as she watched Vicki leave the room. She laid there watching the movie that was playing and she got interested in it. Her eyes were heavy but she was determined to finish watching it to see how it ends. Her determination failed however, the movie was barely halfway over and she was sound asleep.
