Logan POV
Logan was sitting in his office, Emma sitting in a chair beside him. Her parents and brother walk through the door. Emma jumped up and ran and gave them each a hug.
"Oh, Emma, how are you doing?" her mother asked.
"I am doing much better." Emma told her.
"Emma, hunny, I am so sorry. I didn't know that Dylan trying to change before would hurt you, much less kill you." her father said.
"I know Dad, its ok. I am ok."
"You look like shit." Dylan said to her.
"Dylan!" exclaimed both of their parents at the same time.
"What? At least I am being honest." he said and gave her a crooked smile.
"You don't look much better." Emma told him as she playfully shoved him.
Logan cleared his throat, which brought the attention back to why they were all here in the first place. Emma sat back down in the chair beside Logan and her parents and brother sat in the chairs in front of his desk.
"Alpha Logan, is it true that your beta's mate was attacked by another pack?" David asked.
"Yes, Alpha David, it is. They didn't harm her, they just circled her car and wouldn't let her pass. But she came close in losing her baby." Logan said.
David shook his head. "Do you know which pack?"
"No, not yet." Logan said.
"Whose territory was she in?" David asked.
"She wasn't in anyone's territory. She was coming back from the human city and hadn't crossed anyone's borders."
"Hmm." David said. It was a moment before anyone said anything else.
"I want to offer you an alliance treaty. It goes without saying that we are allies regardless since my daughter is your mate, but having it on paper also makes my allies, your allies." David said.
"I accept your treaty. Just have the paperwork sent over and we will get everything signed." Logan told him without hesitation.
"I will do whatever I can to help you find out who these wolves are. Attacking a woman who is alone, especially one that is a beta's mate and pregnant, is intolerable and disgraceful."
"Thank you, Alpha David. All of the pack's Elders have been informed. No pack has yet to claim the wolf, or even say they have a person missing." Logan said.
David looked confused. "Claim the wolf?" he asked.
"Yes, one attacked Nathan when he tried to get to Morgan's car. Nathan was able to subdue him. We have him locked up right now."
"May I see him? Maybe I can recognize him." David said.
Logan nodded. "I will take you down now, if you have time."
"I do." David said.
Logan, David, and Dylan all stood up.
"Alpha Logan, before we go, I want to request something from you and Emma." David said nervously.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"Well, when you and Dylan shift for the first time, me and your mother would really like to be there. We would also like to be at the ceremony for the moon goddess. We understand if you don't want us to be there, and will respect your decision if you don't. But we would be honored if you do."
Emma looked at her father with a blank expression, like she didn't know what to think. After a minute she looked at Logan, "What do you think?"
"That is completely up to you sweetheart, whatever makes you happy, makes me happy." Logan told her.
Emma looked back at her father. "Then yes, I would love for you both to be there."
Both her mother and father smiled at her, her mother walking over and embracing her.
"Good. Now that that's settled, let's go see this wolf." David said.
Logan let them out of the office and down to the basement.
"He hasn't said a word since he has been here. Not even his name." Logan told them.
They descended the stairs to the basement and met Logan's guards that were on duty. They bowed their heads and moved aside for them to pass. They walked to the far side and Logan motioned to the guard to unlock the cell door. David walked in the cell, he grabbed the man by his hair and lifted his head.
"I don't know this man, but he doesn't look like he is from anywhere around here." David said and turned to Logan. "Alpha Logan, I don't think this man belongs to any of our surrounding packs."
"You think he is from another state?" Logan asked.
"It is possible. Which could also explain why none of the packs have claimed him or reported anyone missing."
"If he is from another state, why are they here? And why attack an innocent woman?" Logan asked.
"Only this man and the other wolves know." David said. He was still holding the man by his hair when the man all of a sudden tried to jump forward and bite David's arm. Logan went to rush forward but didn't have a chance. David let go of the man and landing a rock-hard blow to the man's jaw, breaking it.
"Remind me to never be on the receiving end of your punches." Logan said to David.
"As long as you don't hurt my daughter, you never will be." David said and smiled.
David walked back up to the man and stared at his face, cocking his head back and forth, his brows furrowed.
"Alpha Logan, can you have the guards open his mouth." David said after a few minutes.
Logan was confused by this request, but motioned the guards to do as David said. The man tried to thrash against the guards, doing everything in his weak power to keep them off of him. Given the man's jaw is now broken, he couldn't clench his jaw shut to keep them from opening his mouth. They pried the man's mouth open and David looked inside.
"Alpha Logan, I hate to break it to you, but this man won't ever talk."
"Why? What is it?" Logan asked and walked up to the man to look in his mouth as well.
"He has bitten his own tongue off." David stated.
"Son of a-" Logan cut himself off. "Well, if he can't talk, then he is of no use to us. Let him hang there and rot. Let him die and slow death. It's better than what this piece of shit deserves."
Logan turned to the man. "I don't know why you attacked my beta's pregnant mate, but you almost caused them to lose their baby. You are very lucky right now that didn't happen. Although you couldn't have known she was pregnant, but you did know that she was a woman and she was alone. There was no reason to act on her the way you and your pack did. For that I sentence you to rot in this cell. You don't look like you are scared of death, so I won't let you die. You will be kept nourished just enough to keep you alive, but barely."
The man smirked at Logan, well what smirk he could do with his jaw being broken, which made Logan uneasy. They walked out of the cell, the guard locking it behind them. As they were walking up the stairs, Logan turned to David.
"Alpha David, may I ask your advice on something?"
"Sure."
"Am I making a mistake by keeping him alive?" Logan asked.
"Well, that's a question only you can answer. You should do what you feel is best to protect your family and your pack. But it can go two ways. His pack is waiting for you to kill him so they have reason to attack, or they are counting on you to keep him alive so he can mind link them information. You are taking a risk either way." David told him.
"We need to let the Elders know." Logan said.
They reached the top of the stairs, Logan still thinking about what David said. He was afraid of both scenarios, and had a feeling he would be seeing that pack again, sooner rather than later.
