{Kisuke Fujiwara's POV:}
I'm Kisuke Fujiwara and I'm 16! I'm usually unlucky, and clumsy but I'm really smart! I'm average when it comes to combat.
It's the 6th of April and the start of my life at Altheria Academy.
I'm not from a wealthy family. My family is normal and there's nothing notable about them. They are Streia but they had no talent so they gave up on becoming Magi.
They don't possess useful Singularities and I don't have a Singularity. I'm rather worthless at spellcasting but I'm better at Nexusrunes. I know it's contradictory but still...
I arrived at the school. Students were flocking in. All years mixed. I saw white, black, and yellow ties alike.
They were all going to the same place. The assembly hall.
I heard they rebuilt it due to the incident that happened back in June.
I followed the crowd and entered the assembly hall. It was a large place. From the pictures I've seen of it, I think this is larger than before the rebuild.
"Oof."
"Move it."
A third-year brushed past me.
That was a short but somewhat scary experience. Do people just suddenly become tougher the higher their year is?
That didn't happen to me in middle school.
I looked around.
"Seems like it's arranged by class. I'm in the Dragon class which is 1-A."
I walked over to the Dragon class side and sat down in an empty seat at the front.
I waited for everyone to sit and settle down but that didn't happen until 7 minutes, or so, later.
The lights dimmed and somebody walked on stage. It was a blonde woman. She had long hair, and silver eyes and wore a black suit.
There is no way nobody doesn't know who she is. She's a famous half-Japanese, half-Danish, Magia called Ryoko Kamish! She's a powerful Magia who's known for her control over all elements...
The Fairy Magia is her title.
"Hey everybody!"
She waved at everyone with a confident smile on her face.
"I'm Ryoko Kamish, the new principal for Altheria! I'll be overseeing you lot, so you'd better behave!"
She's... a rather energetic character. Whenever I see her in the papers, I always thought she had an intimidating aura about her but I don't see that now.
"Uhm... To be honest, I don't really have much to say since Kyoko volunteered to do practically everything."
She put her hand on her hip and scratched her head, looking down.
"God, I'm giving a bad impression. Uh, I'll just say that some things have changed since last year. Like the introduction of a dueling system but Kyoka-chan will explain that to you."
Upon hearing the words, 'dueling system,' the other students became rowdy. This seems to be the first time it's been said. I don't think any of the other Altheria branches have this.
"Alright, now, put your hands together for Kyoka Sakai! I'll be standing in the corner."
We all clapped as Kyoka Sakai went onto the stage. She looked completely different from the news. She had a black eyepatch and she wore a glove on one hand.
"Hello, everyone, I am the Student Council President and a third-year of this school, Kyoka Sakai."
She announced to everyone.
She was beautiful. Her hair was pure black with a streak of white. Her eyes were blue, reminding me of the sky or some sort of gem.
"I am here to explain a few things to everyone. Firstly, I'll explain the rules."
And the President didn't waste any time talking about the rules and new things in the school. However, the main feature and the most attractive one was revealing itself now.
"Now, I shall talk about the dueling system that Ms Kamish was talking about."
There was a commotion but the President raised her hand and people slowly became silent. She cleared her throat.
"This dueling system is a new feature and our school is the only one that has this as of now."
Yeah, just like I thought!
Wait, why am I getting excited? I don't think I'll be benefitting from this anytime soon.
"It's called the Warfare System. It can only be used to defuse situations."
Makes sense, otherwise, people would be fighting so randomly and wildly.
"To activate it, do not do it now, you must hold the emblem on your blazer for three seconds and say your name and mention your opponent's name or point at them. Like, 'I, Kyoka Sakai, request a duel with-' you should get the idea."
That's very efficient. I'm happy it's not some glove-throwing thing. I was worried since the President is wearing a glove. I don't think she usually wears one.
"The one who is being requested to a duel can decline. But if they accept, they must voice their acceptance."
Like a formal duel in those medieval age shows.
"After they both accept, a certain amount of space will be blocked out by holograms so that there is no outside interference. Both duelists can go in for the kill."
Students became frantic when they heard this but, once again, Kyoka silenced them.
"Upon entering the Duelist Reality, inside the holographic barrier, your bodies will be turned to data due to one of Ms Kamish's abilities."
Everyone seemed to look at Ms Kamish. She flashed a peace sign and smiled.
"Once your bodies turn to data, you can go for the kill without the worry of the other person's life. Though, when someone is killed within the Duelist Reality, they do sustain a few injuries and that is why they are transported to the nurse's office and they are eventually patched up."
That is quite a complicated system. It probably won't be as complicated when performed but, again, not like I'll use it. I'm incompetent compared to the others in my year.
"Well, I think that is all."
I just hope that I can make some friends in Altheria. I don't want to be lonely.
"Ah, actually, I forgot. We decided that some first-years will be roommates to certain second-years. You will know later if you are living in the dorms with a roommate."
That's one friend secured!
