Once Anthony left the room, Rosaline checked the door once again to make sure it was not open. She locked the door from inside and came back towards the bed.
She dried herself first and changed into the dress that the Vampire Lord had handed her. She put the towel on the chair and spread the wet, shabby gown that she had worn earlier, on the chair's base.
She went towards the table and looked at the cream buns and tea. She grasped the cup and sipped the hot tea. She did not remember when she had this kind of tea the last time. She settled on the chair and started to eat the buns. The tears formed in her eyes remembering how she used to eat the leftover food and the humans only see her with pitiful eyes.
Since yesterday morning, she and Penelope had eaten nothing. Rosaline saved one bun for her sister, thinking she would provide it to her in the morning and then would leave. Wiping the tears from the edge of her eyes, she went towards the bed.
She laid down on the bed and pulled the blanket to cover herself. It was so warm. She had never slept on a bed before, so she never knew the comfort people got from it. Her entire body was tired and soon sleep occupied her.
Rosaline's sleep broke abruptly in the morning because of the jerk she felt in her sleep. She opened her eyes gradually and found it was morning. She recollected last night's events and immediately sat up on the bed.
She did not know for how long she slept. Pushing the blanket aside, she landed her feet on the floor mat. She stood up and stretched out her arms.
There was a knock on the door and she immediately put her hands down. The door opened and Butler Anthony entered with a fresh set of clothes in his hands.
"Good morning, Miss," he said with a warm smile and walked in. "My Lord has sent this. The bathroom is on the right side," he waved his hand in the air to show her. "Please get ready and come downstairs. My Lord is waiting for you," Anthony informed her.
Rosaline took the clothes from him and thanked him. "How is my sister? Can I see her?" She asked him.
"The little kid is in the living hall. Please get ready first," Anthony replied and looked towards the circular table.
"The Young Miss did not eat another bun. It might have not suited her taste," the old man remarked.
"No, it is not that I did not like it. I thought I would give it to my sister in the morning… since it was free," Rosaline said while keeping her voice low.
Anthony picked the tray and turned to look at Rosaline. "Miss, you do not need to worry about the food here. Both of you will be served with plenty of food," he asserted.
Rosaline was amused to hear it. Were she and Penelope supposed to stay for long in this mansion? No, how could this be possible!?
Surely, the Vampire Lord needed his payment to help them. He wanted to drink her blood first before letting them go.
She came out of her thoughts when Anthony closed the door behind him. Rosaline went to the bathroom first. After freshening up, and getting dressed into the new gown which was light blue in shade. Her hair was still wet, and she could not bother to dry them up as she had to see Penelope.
She came out of the bathroom and looked for the clothes that she had hung on the chair last night. 'I think they threw them since the dress was dirty,' she thought and walked out of the room.
She walked into the hallway. She had no idea how she ended up remembering the path because the last night when the Vampire Lord teased her, her mind went blank. She reached the living hall but was surprised to see that no one was present there.
She looked around when heard Anthony's voice. "Miss, please this way," he told her humbly.
Rosaline walked to him and then followed him to the breakfast table. She saw the Vampire Lord was sitting beside his sister, but it was not the time to make eye contact with him.
A bright smile appeared on Rosaline's lips upon seeing her sister in the pink of health. However, she became protective of her, thinking that the Vampire Lord might harm Penelope.
She scooped Penelope up, backing slightly away from the Vampire Lord which made him chuckle. He could not believe that the young maiden whom he helped would react this way.
Anthony remained standing at his place with an almost blank expression on his face.
Rosaline then checked Penelope's temperature which had turned normal. She kissed her sister's cheeks and then caressed her back. Penelope's arms were locked around her sister's neck.
"Thank you, Elder Sister Rosa," Penelope said and pecked her sister's cheek, who smiled. Tears formed in her eyes. She could not tell how relaxed she was now.
"Is this the way you treat your benefactor?" Suddenly the Vampire Lord spoke. "The deal is between you and me. Do you think a young, thin kid can complete my thirst?" He questioned her but because of Penelope, he kept the tone polite.
"Well, Penelope is hungry. We were waiting for you only," the Vampire Lord said and settled down on the armchair at the head of the table. Rosaline was surprised that the Vampire Lord actually knew her sister's name. Did they have a conversation when she was upstairs?
"Butler Anthony, serve them breakfast," he commanded and leaned back comfortably on the chair. His eyes never left Rosaline's, who awkwardly settled down on the side chairs with her sister.
Two maids entered with Anthony and started to serve breakfast to both the sisters.
Rosaline found that the Vampire did not eat and his sharp gaze was still fixated on her.
Penelope, being a kid, picked the spoon and started to eat the porridge.
"Eat slowly," Rosaline told Penelope, and then narrowly gazed at the Vampire Lord. He had his elbow rested on the armchair and on his calloused fingers his forehead was rested with a little tilt.
'Why is he looking at me? Does he want to drink blood now?' she thought. The spoon in her hand kept stirring into the porridge bowl.
"Are you not going to eat? If you will not eat, then how will I enjoy my food, huh?" The Vampire Lord asked her with a grin.
Rosaline tilted her head and peered into his eyes.
"Eat," he asserted. She immediately lowered her head and silently finished the porridge.
Penelope ate two bowls of porridge until her stomach got full. Rosaline wiped her mouth and then made her drink water.
"Sister Rosa, this is J-Je-J," Penelope introduced the Vampire Lord in a broken sentence when he completed the sentence for her.
"I am Jedediah Windstrung," the Vampire Lord finally introduced himself.
