Chereads / Spy In The City / Chapter 2 - The Beginning

Chapter 2 - The Beginning

Television goes on a brief static, before finally getting a fair signal and a female broadcaster appears on it.

"... The Terrors have left several countries in absolute exasperation, as many female children all over the continent has been declared missing in a matter of days, their location is not..."

The television goes on another static break, before finally regaining it's signal.

"... The motives of this notorious gangs as it is, is just to cause violence and tumults. As many believe them to be as a result of some of the so called government. Here is a short video of what seems to be the citizens of America protesting against this terrorism."

The reporter was gone, and a video replaced her. A video of America citizens causing rifts in the neighborhood, an attempt to seize the attention of the government to the kidnapping of their girls.

The reporter appeared on the screen again, as the television again went on a bout of screeching static. It stopped again.

"... Noone knows them, noone knows why they keep kidnapping our precious girls, and why we haven't received a ransom. But one thing stands..."

Again came the signal loss.

"... We need someone to do something fast since the governments aren't paying much attention. In other words, a hero is what we need right about now."

The television finally goes off.

Somewhere in Manzanillo, Mexico

The soldiers walked cautiously towards the small dirty building which appeared almost centuries old, aside the fact that it was actually built in this deserted forest which appeared to be animals free.

They had heard Intel talking about spotting this kidnappers, Terrors taking refugee here in Manzanillo, which should suggest here being their hideout and where they held the girls hostage. They were sent here on a retrieval mission.

They moved stealthily in the bushes, their sniper guns pointed at the entrance of the door. Each of them had a comm attached to their ear, and a small microphone running from this comm to the side of their mouth.

Agent Grey Quinn was positioned on watch guarding them, while the others moved in. The reason was probably because of her gender in the military or for her fragile nature. But she couldn't protest, it could have been worse.

The captain lead them towards the door, making a sign with his hand as a soldier walked past him and knelt in front of the door. Pulling out a device from his gadget bag that seemed to be attached to his uniform.

The device was actually a bomb detector, one of the military best invention. He placed the device on the door as it fastened on itself on it, and then got into business. It would scan the perimeter for ionizing radiations that could compliment a bomb, like gamma or alpha particles.

The device beeped once, signifying that it was clear. The soldier took it away and gave the captain an affirmative nod. The captain nodded in reply, and then moved his left hand twice towards the door, as the others moved in.

They kicked down the door pointing their guns at whoever was there. But they were left in bafflement when they found nothing.

There were no girls, there were no Terrors. It was all blank.

"Shit! We have been set up!" The captain yelled, "Everyone out!"

*

She patrolled the area, her guns pointed at the air, as if something would pop up from there anytime soon.

Her attention was quickly taken by a chopper that was hovering above them.

At first, she thought it was probably a pick up, until her eyes picked up an object that dropped from the chopper, heading straight for the soldiers in the building.

"Missile!!!" She shouted as she ran towards them, but she was too slow. The missile rammed the building, an heavy wave sending her off her feet from the speed of the object.

She fell to the ground, unconscious. As the building got blown up to pieces, not even an ant could have survived that.

The chopper blared for a while in the sky, checking if it was clean, before moving away.

'You should have seen that coming if you were a fan of 6 Underground. And I know you are probably thinking, oh no, they are all dead.

Well, spoiler alert!'

Present

Sonoran Desert - F.O.R.C.E Headquarters

She was lost in the darkness, her consciousness flooding back into her brain. She could barely move, her body was heavy and stiff, she knew she couldn't have died, if she had, a light would have been piercing her eyes right about now.

And coincidentally, a light pierced her eyes as she opened it slowly. She could now feel her hands, as she used it to shield her eyes from the light.

Her vision caught sight of a woman studying her, she jerked up slowly, and looked around the facility, an aroma of lemon perfume filling her nose. She observed that the whole place was made out of glass and more glass, she saw agents walking around and doing something or the other.

The looks of their uniforms was unlike any she had ever seen, it was surely not in the military booklet.

"Ma'am?" The woman asked, as she watched her face her slowly, "Are you..."

"How long have I been out?" She asked firmly, as the woman stared at her for sometime, as if not sure of telling her.

"Three days." She sighed angrily, pulling out the drip pipe from her hand, even at the outcry of the woman. She walked angrily outside the room, as everyone's attention turned to her.

"Who is the boss around here?" She yelled at them, as a voice replied her question.

"Hello Agent Grey."

She turned around to see a man in a black coat. "Who the heck are you?"

"My name is Hott Barnes, most of them call me director Hott." The man said, as soon as they were in his office, or so it seemed.

Grey wasn't interested in the pleasantries, she drove to the question part, "Where am I?"

Hott smiled, "We are somewhere in the middle of the pitiful desert of Sonoran, a barrier keeping us out of plain sight. But let's not go there now agent. Let's start with you, do you remember anything?" He asked.

Grey nodded involuntarily, before speaking, "We got information from our Intel that they had the location of the girls. We were sent to Mexico to reel them in, but found no one, it was a..."

"Setup." Hott finished the sentence, as she glanced up at him.

"Yes."

Hott nodded and stood from his seat, walking towards the glassy wall, and staring at the beautiful brown folds of the desert outside.

Grey looked around and back at him, "So who exactly are you guys, you don't seem military."

"That's because we aren't, we are off the books." He said before turning back to her.

"Then what are you?"

"Federal Organization for Retrieval and Custodial Enactments, F.O.R.C.E." Hott replied, walking back to his seat.

"So you guys are like a secret organization."

"Depends."

"What exactly is your purpose?"

"Defence."
