Dallas immediately got up from the bed, his eyes wide and serious.
“What?” He frowned, teeth grinding together. “The two weeks aren’t up yet. He broke his word.”
“I know, but we just received the reports,” Hale said, still slightly breathless from the haste that he must have used in order to get to them quickly. “Our patrols are keeping them from crossing the border, but there’s little they’ll be able to do without backup. They’ll be overrun if we don’t get out there.”
“We will, then,” Dallas said, going over to his closet and pulling out a clean shirt. That was when Bree realized that they were in Dallas’ room; typically, they had slept together in Bree’s quarters, but Dallas must have taken her to his last night.
She couldn’t help the fondness that she felt at that idea, despite the urgency of the situation.
“What should I report, Alpha?” Hale asked. He nodded perfunctorily to Bree, but was otherwise all business, the picture of a soldier in action.
