Bree looked around the room that Dallas had brought her to in wonder. “Where are we?”
They had walked to one of the lower levels of the castle, arriving at a large, open room, which was filled with mats and strange, lumpy blocks that were stacked on the floor and sticking out of the walls, creating a sort of maze around the room. They had the same shape and color as rocks, but were very distinctly artificial.
Dallas looked over in the direction of Bree’s gaze, as though he didn’t think that anything was unusual about the décor, which he probably didn’t.
“Those are for climbing practice,” he said. “We can obviously go out into the woods if we want to train on natural formations, but these are good for simple drills, and for when the weather is bad.”
“So this is your training room?” Bree asked, gazing around at the mats and practice dummies that were stood against the walls, looking very orderly. “Where is everyone?”
