At Eleanor's house…
Eleanor would never reveal the truth. She knew Cecilia would overreact out of concern. She had no intention of frightening her. So, she kept quiet with her eyes closed, pretending to be sleepy.
She expected Cecilia to stop asking her questions, but she was quickly proven wrong.
Cecilia was not one to back down without having her questions answered.
"Don't assume that I will stop asking," she snapped. "I won't stop until I get the answers."
Eleanor was still silent, not showing any sign of responding to her.
Cecilia stared at her, hoping she would hear her response. When she didn't hear from her, she sighed in dismay.
"It's all because of me," she lamented. "I was so busy celebrating my birthday with Lucas and his family that I completely ignored you. I shouldn't have left you alone at the party. You wouldn't have been hurt if I had been with you."
