It's 9 am and Haru knocks on our dorm room, agitated and tired after what transpired yesterday we groan and turn over.
"WAKE UP!" Haru shouts from the hallway. We stand upright instantly without even thinking. We get dressed in our uniform and meet up with Haru before she leaves without us.
"Apparently she's a cowgirl!" Bobu says excitedly. Everyone imagines how she'll look, I imagine her with a poncho, brown hair, and dirty boots. In case you were wondering who we're talking about, our first mission as a team is to wrangle up weak curses terrorizing a small town. A sorcerer from Texas has offered to help us exercise the curse behind it all. We arrive at the entrance of the institute and we see a girl with golden blonde hair in a ponytail, a poncho with multiple engravings on it, a huge rifle on her back, and two pistols on her side.
"Good Morning Mr. Brown and..." Bobu lingers on and tries to remember her name.
"Emily Calloway." she completes for Bobu.
"OH YEAH, THAT'S IT!" Bobu snaps his fingers and laughs. She looks irritated and turns away and exits the school.
"We better get goin' right?" She yells at us ushering us to follow her. We find ourselves standing before a carriage being pulled by two horses.
"Wow, I've never seen a horse in real life! Can I pet him?" I ask her, she nods as she leaps into the carriage and grabs hold of the reigns. I pet the horse and he seems to be enjoying it.
"So soft!!!" I say excitedly, Naofumi pets the other horse.
"You're right they are very soft; nice too!" Naofumi agrees with me.
"Let me pet-" Bobu is cut off quickly.
"Get in the damn carriage, we'll have time after our duty's done!" she yells at us. We jump into the carriage and ride off. It takes a while to reach the plot of land that was festered with cursed spirits. We look around at what seems like an empty field and suddenly the sky changes color and there's suddenly a murder of crows circling us.
"A veil..." Emily says agitated.
"Cursed Technique: Dead Eye!" Emily draws her two pistols and sends a flurry of bullets into the sky. The murder falls all together it looked as if it were black rain pouring down, they were shinigami, our opponent was a shinigami user and not a powerful one. She looks around and focuses on a barn for about 30 seconds then suddenly dashes faster than any of us could process. The sky began to transform once more and this time it turned dark as night.
"DOMAIN EXPANSION: MONSTER RODEO!" An omnipotent voice shouts across the land and a rumbling sound commences in the distance. Naofumi pushes off of the ground.
"Cursed Technique: Zero Gravity" He quickly drifts into the air and looks into the distance.
"HARU IT'S A STAMPEDE YOU GOTTA STOP IT!" Naofumi yells from above.
"NAOFUMI IT'S A DOMAIN WE CAN'T STOP IT, IT'S GOING TO HIT ITS TARGET 100%" Bobu yells at Naofumi. Bobu transforms his knuckle dusters into a large shield.
"Cursed Technique: Cursed Arsenal- Shield!" Bobu stands before all of us and prepares to take the attack on in full. Haru leaps above him.
"SLOW DOWN!" The entire stampede is slowed exponentially. Naofumi thrusts his hands down once more.
"Cursed Technique: Max Geforce!" Naofumi shouts and the stampede gets slowed even more. The stampede finally connects with the shield and pushes us back as if it hadn't been slowed whatsoever. I dash away from the stampede and Haru follows suit toward the barn. I draw my harpoon from the portal and run even faster to the barn. Then suddenly a literal storm erupts from the barn sending me and Haru flying.
"IT'S RAININ' CATS AND DAWGS!" The omnipotent country voice talks once more. Then as he demanded, shinigami fall from the sky. I jump into the air and repeatedly stab multiple shinigami. It's not enough though, many still veer away from my attack. Haru looks at the storm nonchalantly and smiles.
"Die." She says with a smile. And as she demands, the entire storm of shinigami explodes midair. She dashes to the barn and I join her. A gunshot whizzes past my face and I look to my side and see another cowgirl.
"Howdy! Shame ya gotta die, you got a pretty face." She tells me twirling her revolver and tilting her hat up.
