Chapter 1 - Season 1 Episode 1: Surging Curses

"Sweetie wake up your friends are here!" My mom shouts from down the hall of my parents humble one-story house.

"Can you hurry up, please? They're blocking my way out!" My dad adds.

I run down the hall and hug both of my parents before going out to my friend Jason's car. Jason drives out of my neighborhood and into a highway toward our other friend's house.

Thankfully until we reached our other friend's house I had the entire backseat to myself. Saturdays are the best I get the whole day to hang out with my friends and my curfew is later than usual. Jason is the only one in the group who could drive, he takes everyone around where they need to go. He is the most selfless person I know, he never really gets angry and he forgives people almost instantly, and sometimes it makes me sick. And to the right of him is Alan he was the pothead of the group, he never peer pressures us into it so it doesn't really bother me, though he did almost get me in trouble with the smell. We arrive at our last friend's house; Kingsley.

"Yo, what's good you guys!" Kingsley announces happily. Kingsley is on the road to becoming an Olympic swimmer, he rarely has time to hang out so when we really get the chance we make the most of it, every time I see him he seems more and more foreign.

We park at a nearby parking lot and we start our voyage into the city, shopping, and eating.

"Damn I really miss this man, you know we might never get the chance to do some shit like this again," Kingsley says slowly winding down.

"Yuh man, what colleges are you guys lookin' at?" Alan says in a drowsy voice. That question always makes me nervous because, in reality, I didn't really know I always thought I'd have more time to think about it; until I didn't.

"I'm going to the military... I feel bad for having to leave my girl you know?" Jason says sadly. That suits Jason he'd do amazing, he has all of the qualities of a hero.

"I'm going to the Olympics! Hopefully.." Kingsley says in a doubtful tone. The whole group turns their heads at breakneck speed. We all reassure him that he's gonna make it, but he still doesn't believe it.

"MIT accepted me..." Alan says quietly. Once again we turn out heads at breakneck speed and we surround him and start celebrating; Alan going to MIT that's genuinely a surprise. He never studies and he really just lounges around, I guess he always does pass his tests without fail. Alan a genius? I would've never believed you.

"What about you Elliot?" Alan says happily. My heart drops and I tell them.

"Uhh, I think I really wanna become an actor," I say slightly embarrassed. I turn and everyone smiles.

"Dude I think you'd be an amazing actor!" Jason says charismatically.

"For real, you'd better give us a free ticket to your feature film!" Kingsley announces.

"Actor? That fits you." Alan says drowsily again.

They're the first people to embrace me and my dream. I felt so happy, such a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I can't do anything but smile.

"Dreams? Youth is truly a delectable forbidden fruit" A tall middle-aged man walks from the shadows. My heart stops, my veins chill, and my body begins to tremble. Everyone besides me sprints away laughing at the bizarreness of it all.

"Laughing... That sound." The middle aged-man ponders his next word. He lifts his hand.

"Is.. truly the most annoying thing I've heard from monkeys." He swipes down and a red string cuts through them like a knife through butter. He begins to laugh hysterically.

"YOU FUCKING MONKEYS FILLING EACH OTHER WITH FUTILE DREAMS!" He grabs me by the collar and holds me up.

"Oh but you... You make me sicker than all of them combined... I wanted you for last." He says angrily while dangling me from the collar. Why? Why is this happening what did I do to deserve this? They're dead all of them... They didn't even do anything... I begin to cry, uncontrollably in fact.

"You're crying? Good... It wouldn't make this entire mission completely useless." He says annoyed. He throws me down and flips my body around with his foot.

"Look around, do you see it." He says before taking a deep inhale.

"All of this hatred swarming around it's beautiful can you believe people wanna kill these natural beings?" He says insistently. It wasn't beautiful, it was like those biblical paintings of hell but...real. Some big and some small, some that look harmless and some that look like demons. It's a sensory overload.

"I love showing fodder humans the world that is my domain!" He announces laughing hysterically. A purplish-and blue blur appears from the top of a nearby building. He quickly notices and dashes away with me around his arm. They land and the smoke clears and I see a pale teenager around my age standing with a black blade. He dashes at him quickly and thrusts his blade into his head. He laughs and morphs into a red yarn I drop alongside it.

"You coward Shinzo!" The pale man yells at the mysterious man. He reappears at the top of a building. He puts on a straw hat and smiles horrifyingly, he slams his hand onto the roof of the building and yells back at us.

"JUJUTSU SORCERER! LET US REVISIT THIS FIGHT! I WANNA CURSE THE DAMNED!!" A volcano of monsters erupts from the building like a mushroom cloud. The pale man steps in front of me and another person walks next to him with knuckle dusters they prepare for battle.

"We'll be back for you, don't worry." They jump from the building and I'm left there. All alone. The world doesn't make sense anymore. Curses? A world of Curses?
