The great evil, Haszeled, sat atop the throne of darkness in his dark and dreary room, there were bodies scattered everywhere, especially beneath the throne. Beneath the shadow lay a mountain of corpses, around the throne, there could be seen, half torsos of people torn apart or not, the rest shrouded in darkness. Yet not a drop of blood could be found on the floor. He sat with a bowl of chips a top his throne, a scowl on his mesmerising face. He looked wonderful in his black pants, and custom-made dark robe, adorned with meringue patterns all around.
The air was rancid, and the guards dared not anger him, his mood was murderous.
It had been a few months since he sent his men to look for the boy with a pure heart, that he needed to corrupt. He needed the soul of this well-intentioned yet misunderstood boy, whose soul was supposed to be his for the taking. He couldn't touch it; least he ignited an all out war, he needed to win by a land slide. he had to send those around him, others whom he is had corrupted, and made to do his bidding.
He yelled in outrage, they had all fearfully delivered the same news, and were met with the same demise, still they were unable to find him.
It was obvious they had interfered, he wasn't so petty to expect them not to, "so what?"
He might have interfered, and now they did too?
So, it was okay when he messed with the boy and didn't touch him, but now that he did, they acted was that it.
He had doubted that they would ever put down their pride, it seemed he was wrong.
"Ha, ha," he simply thought they held no interest, he thought they hadn't found out, he didn't expect they were bidding their time, in order to strike when it mattered the most, it seemed they were finally learning
He smiled wickedly, well, after consuming 999 pure souls and leaving in his wake, a wreckage in their army each time. It would be weird if they didn't learn a lesson, the issue was they had learnt it a little to late.
"This is going to be fun."
So what if they hid him, where he couldn't find him, 'he would eventually come seek me out all on his own. I don't even have to search, and then he would be devoured.'
The beings of this world like the others were heading towards destruction, they were all drunken with power among themselves. They caused strife and bickered among each other over the most insignificant and meaningless things. They maintained their false sense of unity, which were next to non-existent, they all prided themselves with their idiocracy, believing themselves to be right.
There was always some fool who thought they were the ones using him,
"Hah," he scoffed
"Oh!" How he pitied the poor fools. They should remain as idiots just how he liked it, they cared more about material rust than the true power which he craved. They reeked of karma.
The universe quaked and trembled in anger, as they sullied her harmony and order. They were drunk on freedom and a false sense of superiority.
Acting blindly, oblivious of being in a burning house, well, it wasn't his fault anyway. Time would come when they would reap upon what they sowed. The problem was: He was the reaper, and he greatly enjoyed it.
He calmed a bit after his self talk, and got into a good enough posture, he turned on the TV. He watched a film.
The downfall of vampires.
Bam!,
He broke the TV.
He hated idiots. Especially the likes of the bat birds.
If they had been a bit like him, then they would have driven humanity to the brink of destruction without anyone knowing. They would have prospered, but instead they had made themselves known. The world united against them, they had ended up as a sob story for lovers, but not him.
"They wouldn't even know what hit them." They just need to do a bit more evil each time, rebel just a little more, kill a bit more. While believing they were on the side of truth. He would blind their hearts, and make them question their morals.
Strike out from the balance, leave the flow of life, abandon order, a tiny bit more, just a tiny bit more, and the whole of mankind, would be his for the taking.
'Couldn't they feel it, the impending doom, they really were pitifully blind?'
"Calling it a development." Haszeled chuckled, it sure was a positive development for him. Caught up in his snags, and web of lies. It brought joy to him, like it always did to end things, and play around with the souls.
Just like now, he would make sure that each of their demise would be as hip and different, just as trendy, like the new trends they enjoyed. He couldn't wait to make his existence known within the culture. "A pity, it would be their first and last."
He had gone around silencing and hypnotising any who discovered him.
Mystics.
Psychics.
Scientists.
Believers.
He quaked in anger. He couldn't keep count of how many he had slain. The believers of different religions were the most annoying. There were a few snags here and there, because of them. They were always grabbing on to his heals, as they were the direct opposite of what he stood for.
He gritted his teeth, "those damned religions."
He would up and burn them if he could, but that would arouse too much suspicion, it might even give him away, the universe might directly intervene before he was ready. It irked him, they had managed to snag a few too many souls away from him.
'Aligning people with laws and order, giving them enlightenment and transcendence, on a platter of gold no less, shedding their impurities into purity.'
To be honest he wondered why everyone wasn't a part of it. "It was just to good to be true," if he had been a different being, he would have joined a few, it was far too easy, especially since the religions found in this time line seemed to be the most authentic. Even then, he wasn't having any of it, he slammed his fist into the table, they were doing such a bang up job that they had single handedly set him back by hundreds of decades.
He had worked hard to get rid of them, but things were different now. No one needed them now. It wasn't like they were a complete set back. He had managed to plant a lot of his people into them as time went by. It was only a matter of time, and he had lots of it.
"Ha, ha," also there were evil religions, he had made the most of them, he had also made them more appealing; after reforming them, than they were before, after all no one liked the bloodshed involved. They would rather maintain they masks of innocence, he had to do all the dirty work, but it was worth, it the returns were amazing.
The more blood they shed, the more they strayed, the better it was for him, catching them young was excellent too, and so having a million or so children, who were devoted to him, spreading doom and destruction each day was the best feeling ever.
He couldn't get to kids before, but now it was as easy as taking candy from a baby. He even felt sorry for the kids who didn't know any better, they were brought willingly to their destruction, by their foolish parents. The kids had bagged him so, he planned to help them kill their parents as revenge. What ever it was, it didn't matter to him. The more strife the better.
"Pftt."
"Lie a bit more, steal a bit more, confuse them, break them apart, end each other, bully each of the others." He controlled his followers minds as they wrecked havoc in the darkness.
"Don't listen, you don't have to listen, don't reflect, you've done nothing wrong, your right as always, we don't need to prove we are because we are, as they aren't one of us they're wrong, don't try to understand, be true to yourselves and live by your raw instincts."
"Be wild, be cruel like the animal you were always meant to be, that's who you really are, there's nothing wrong with it, your desires are always right, steal, kill, take it, want it, take what you want."
"You have the power to do what ever you want, my power. You have the support, our support. The law is on our side, after all, the law is what I say it is. It's our world, do whatever you what. This is our time, my time."
"We own it all."
"You're doing great, just be the way you are, don't try to change and don't be afraid, your raw passion, your nature, and the downfall of civilization, it's ours."
'Your souls are mine after all, make sure to become more tasty.'
"Ha-ha, Ha-ha, Ha-ha,"
"Ha-ha, Ha-ha, ha-ha."
Now, if only he could destroy earth's last hope,
But no matter what he did, they just wouldn't go away.
They just wouldn't go away, regardless of what he did, the named people, now know as earths defenders.
"Tch, always getting in the way," but now things were different, he could feel it.
It was his time, 'my time has finally come.'
The disasters occurring proved it, everything happening proved it, his hard work was finally coming together.
Like always, the believers of different groups touted the roads speaking of the end of the world, but this time no one listened, just like he had planned.
Outside the window, his work was being acknowledged.
"Close your ears sweetie, a crazy man is talking." A mother said to her child.
"Don't look."
"Ugh, it's them again."
"Don't you ever get tired of this same shit."
"Lol, the people who can't see what they're talking too."
"Lame."
"You can't even prove the bullshit your spouting."
"That stuff really grinds my balls, should we beat them up?"
"No, you'd get arrested, that's violence"
"Still they don't deserve to go around, spitting out lies."
"Tsk, who decided to respect other people's opinions, they are just rubbish. They don't even deserve an opinion."
Haszeled smiled.
"Yes, proceed with your warnings, after all humans were always known to do the opposite of what they were told to."
Badgering them would only make them revolt more, and it worked greatly in his favour.
No one would protect them. Not like the last time. They'd find out when it's too late. When they could never return to a time of order.
"Time to shine baby."
He had done everything, everything, just a little more, unlike his character he had learned to be patient, things would get ruined if he move recklessly. "I need to catch the off guard."
An impending doom they never foresaw coming, "It would be my greatest masterpiece," he smirked.
"Kay ha-ha, ha-ha."
"The boss is doing it again."
The guards assigned by his sponsors, who were standing guard at the front of his room were getting nervous.
"Ugh, it gives me the chills each time."
"I know right."
"Let's just pretend we don't know, I would rather not die getting caught up in that."
The demise of the world, especially of those around him, he really looked forward to it.
◇ ◇ ◇
The great evil sipped his tea, 'humans did make good tea.'
He enjoyed every bit of their life while he could, everything he did was like a tourist on a holiday, they enjoyed what they could, and when it was over they would forgot it, commemorating their visit with souvenirs. One of the souvenirs he still craved for on this holiday, the one thing that might make him extend this exciting endeavour, kept deluding him. He kept it locked up in an unpleasant state, he would let it come to its senses and play its role.
He went through the reports that his now dead subordinates had prepared, one by one in a pristine suit, as if nothing ever happened.
Likewise, he expected this, the results were expected, but they had pulled some strings, well, it didn't matter. "It might be a bother, but I'll have to soft peddle on my plans a bit." It's better than getting things ruined, after all a plan is the most vulnerable at its end.
He chuckled as undressed himself, he walked to the wardrobe and picked out a new set of clothes, after all it didn't matter what he wore, he looked dashing in everything. He picked his steel whip and tested it out.
Whip.
A whipping sound spread across the room. He brushed his hand across his hair, and called a guard who doubled as his secretary, "pack this up, I'm heading out."
The secretary bow and began sorting the documents.
"It's been a while, I hope my favourite can still play with me. My heart would be sad if she can not." He dragged the meter long whip behind him as he descended the stairs.
