Chereads / His Fatal Love / Chapter 3 - Meeting

Chapter 3 - Meeting

He swiftly alerted his border control to his brother's impending trespass and mind-linked the doctor. Instead of responding to the mind-link, he groggily picked up his phone. After a few minutes, he requested him to be at the clinic in ten minutes, and despite the late hour, he promptly consented.

As the doctor arrived 10 minutes later, Traec stood outside the clinic doors. He hadn't bothered to change out of his plaid pajama bottoms and had instead donned a t-shirt. Dr. Henry Elrod had been the pack doctor for years, and the creases crinkling at the corners of his eyes and the grin lines entrenched in his leather skin revealed his experience.

"Terrence once again and?" The elderly doctor inquired as he muttered his way up the stairs, cautious of the small snow piles at the bottom.

"I'm going to punch him if this isn't real."Traec snorted and sniffed.

"Stand in line."

He soon heard Terrence's truck sliding down the narrow street, which he recognized. As he stomped on the brakes, his tires screeched, bringing his fast automobile to a complete stop. Traec's heart began to beat irregularly in his chest, his breath shortening, and his wolf began to stir restlessly in his consciousness.

He looked over to the doctor by his side, unsure as to why he was suddenly nervous. The doctor seemed completely unconcerned about his difficulties, instead focusing his attention on the car in front of them. His nose was bombarded with an appealing aroma of cherry the second Terrence stepped out of his car.

He inhaled deeply, attempting to get his fill of the irresistible perfume. His chest tightened at the sensation.

Terrence began to speak, his words flying by at a breakneck pace, but Levi disregarded his yapping and moved closer to the truck. Traec was consumed by an overpowering need to discover the source of the fragrance, and it was all he could think about.

"...so I just placed her in my car and came here because I didn't know what else to do," Terrence said, turning around to the back driver's door and pulling the metal door open.

The smell of cherry exploded from the door, and Traec had Terrence pressed against the side of his blue truck before he even realized what was going on. He hissed in his face, his pointed teeth bared in the direction of his sibling. While Traec's arm pressed Terrence's shoulders to the truck behind him, all Traec could think about was the scent.

"Calm down, bro. This time, I swear it's the truth. She is in desperate need of assistance."

Terrence's words seemed to soothe him, and he took a step back, hastily removing his arm from his shoulder. Before returning to the door he had just opened, Terrence fixed his shirt. Traec got a peek of the beauty that was lurking inside for the first time.

Her hair was a wonderful mix of blonde and brunette, the color of wheat. The thick, almost straight strands framed lovely, tanned skin. Traec was tempted to brush his lips on her flawless button nose, which was perched in the center of her lovely face. Her cherry aroma was all her own, a combination of cherry and something absolutely natural and feminine.

Mine.

She belongs to me.

Terrence made a grab for her, and Levi lost it once more. Terrence was lying down on the ground, rubbing his chest, in a flash. He whimpered as Traec stood at the vehicle's doorway, shielding his partner from Terrence's gaze.

"Traec! What's the matter with you, for God's sake?!"

Traec overheard the doctor muttering behind him, "Oh, my."

He swiveled around to face him, taking care not to disturb the unconscious charm sprawled out in the truck's backseat.

Dr. Elrod walked slowly towards us, his palms exposed at his hips.

"Traec, I need to run a background check on her." She's in a lot of pain."

Traec sensed the rusty scent of blood on his companion for the first time. He mentally chastised himself for losing control, which he had never done before.

Traec swiftly spun around, grabbing her little form and raising her bridal style to his chest. He looked at the fragile creature he was holding. Her bones swelled up from beneath her thin layer of clothing, which barely covered her entire body. She wore a crop top that exposed the top of her bra and a very short skirt that revealed her long, bony legs.

He instantly felt a sudden wave of jealousy flood over him as he effortlessly carried her up the clinic's steps and out the door. He carefully placed her on the table but hesitated to take a step back. Dr. Elrod was escalating over his mate's body, close on his heels and circled to the other side of the bed.

She had minor cuts right above her temple and a massive gash on her forearm, to be sure.

Traec's jaw clenched in rage as he observed all of his mate's bruises and blemishes on his exposed skin. Every inch of her beautiful skin had a purple scar or faded pink bruise.

Behind them, his brother dashed into the clinic, holding the back of his head and mumbling angrily to himself. He swung around quickly, frowning at his brother as he walked through the door. Terrence was irritated by his brother's expression and shook his head.

"What should I do now?"

Traec let out a low growl, not pleased with the tone he was using while his mate laid bleeding and in pain.

"Mine," Traec hissed, his gaze remaining fixed on Terrence.

Terrence's eyes lit up, and he stared at his companion, mouth gaping open, in disbelief.

He hissed threateningly, sensing a threat from his younger sibling. It probably doesn't matter that they were linked by blood at the time. His companion had been injured. Terrence had carried her in that way, and his thorny brother was staring at her far more than Traec desired.
