Chereads / His Fatal Love / Chapter 4 - Furious

Chapter 4 - Furious

"Terrence, you might also want to await outside," Dr. suggested, watching the encounter as if he was about to step in.

Terrence backed up and turned his head to the side, as if he didn't mean any damage. Traec accepted the gesture and regained a small amount of control. He accepted the doctor's advise and exited the room, returning to the lobby. "I know she's your mate, Alpha, but I have to touch her, okay?"

He remained motionless as he stared her down. She was the most beautiful lady he had ever seen, despite the swell on her chin and the small cuts above her brow. Whoever did this to her, I'm going to kill them. After a while, his chest tightened as he saw his mate secure on the bed, all her wounds attended to. Worry still gripped his mind, but seeing her taken care of was enough for him to be able to leave her and see his brother for a moment. He had to find out what was going on.

He gently pressed a gentle kiss to his mate's brow, his hand twirling through the thick, entrancing strands of her hair. He reluctantly turned and exited the room before he lost motivation to speak with his brother, promising himself that he would only be gone for a few minutes and that no one else would have access to her.

Terrence was slouched in a small chair in the lobby, his large frame obscuring his vision. Terrence was slumped in a small chair in the lobby, his large frame filling the wooden frame. His chin laid against the wall above the chair, and his hands were poised in his lap. He lifted his head and kept staring at his brother when he heard Traec enter.

He could tell Terrence was assessing his brother's willingness to let him speak. He remembered how he had barely kept control earlier and had roughed up his brother for attempting to assist his injured comrade. He knew his brother posed no threat to his mate logically. He may be a device, but their mother engrained in them the importance of respect. They were taught and learned how to treat others, especially their future mates, and make them feel at ease from the moment they were born. During their adolescence, they all questioned and rebelled against what they were taught. When they were thrown back into place, they realized how correct their parents had been.

"What happened?"

Traec inquired, casting a glance over his shoulder at the door. He wished he could turn around and march back in there, holding his mate in his arms until she was completely healed.

His brother described his altercation with his friend, taking care not to offend anyone.

"I felt obliged to defend her. I couldn't realize until I saw you in the clinic just now."

Traec recognized the link. When another member of the family meets their relative's mate, they are moved to tears. Not in a romantic sense, but rather in a protective one. The mere fact that Traec had a friend perplexed him. He'd accepted that he wasn't cut out for romance, but he was wrong yet again.

"Can you tell me her name?"

Traec inquired, recalling his mate's seamless hair and full lips.

"I'm not sure," Terrence shrugged, rising from his chair and swaying his neck from side to side to loosen up.

"She didn't say much before collapsing. Traec, you must exercise extreme caution around her. When I was there, she was completely freaked out."

Traec nodded slowly, indicating that he acknowledged what his brother was saying. He knew he had to remember everything his mother had taught him about what his future mate would and would not like.

"I guess it means she won't be returning to my pack, uhum?" Terrence laughed heartily at his own joke.

When he saw the vicious look in his brother's eye and the deep growl in his stomach, his movements froze. Traec clenched his fists, desperately wanting to sever his brother's nose. His wolf roared even at the thought of someone stealing his battered mate. He would have been dragged limb by limb if the man in front of him hadn't been his brother. Nobody was going anywhere with his pal. And no one will touch her without his permission.

"I'm going home, brother," Terrence said, not wanting to see Traec lose control any further than he already had.

"I'll stop by later this week to see how she's doing."

Traec nodded stiffly as he led his brother to the door so he could get back into his car and drive home. He turned around and laid his eyes on his mate didn't make any movement as he stared down at her. Regardless of the swelling on her chin and the minor cuts above her eyebrow, she was the most gorgeous woman he had ever laid eyes on.

"One thing is for sure, I am going to rip off his head whoever did this to her."

Seeing his mate securely sleeping on the bed, all her wounds tended to, helped the tight feeling in Traec's chest. Worry still gripped his mind, but seeing her taken care of was enough for the moment to be able to leave her momentarily and see his brother. He needed to know what was going on.

He pressed a gentle kiss to his mate's forehead, his hand combing between the thick, mesmerizing strands of her hair. He reluctantly turned and leave the room before he lost his motivation to speak to his brother, promising himself he would only be away for a few minutes, and nobody else had access to her.

Terrence was resting in the lobby, his body slumped in a small chair, his large form filling up the wooden frame. His head was leaned back, resting against the wall above the chair, and his hands were poised in his lap.

Upon hearing Traec enter, he raised his head and stared at his brother.

Traec could tell that Terrence was gauging how willing his brother was to let him speak. He remembered how he barely maintained control earlier and roughed up his brother over trying to help his injured mate. Logically, he knew his brother was no threat to his mate.

He may be a tool, but their mother raised them to be strictly respectful. From the day they were born, they were trained and taught how to treat others, especially their future mates or luna, and help them feel comfortable and safe.
