Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Delina and Nora were arm in arm, walking toward the table, while Elenora ordered the tacos. Nora loved tacos, and since it was her day, Elenora would buy a large portion, including the spiced fries her daughter loved so much.

"I can't believe we're eighteen now, Nora!" Delina spoke happily.

"Me neither! Do you think I'll find my mate today?" Nora looked around, as if looking for someone.

"Who knows? But if it is, you don't have to look around, Nora. You will smell a different smell, right?"

"Yes it's true. But I'm so anxious, nervous. What if he shows up now and my mom sees everything? I've seen this kind of encounter and it was pretty hot." Nora spoke with mischievous eyes. Delina just shook her head.

"Yeah, that could be a little embarrassing. But I believe your mother knows how things are. She must have been through it herself." The two agreed.

"There, girls. Food!" Elenora deposited the trail with soda, tacos and potatoes on the table, then sat down. The three stopped talking to eat.

They still sat at the table for some time, talking and drinking soda, after they had finished eating. The place wasn't crowded, despite it being a sunny Sunday, so they weren't getting in the way of anyone staying at the table.

"Tests will start on Wednesday." Delina commented, to which Nora pouted.

"So it's good for you two to study hard. If you intend to work, I cannot allow your grades to be low. It's against the rules. As students, you can only do part-time at the orphanage, as long as it doesn't interfere with your grades. This is your last year, so be patient."

Elenora took grades very seriously. She had intended for Nora to go to college, but the girl was afraid of having to go to another city and, inevitably, run into other humans. Delina was one thing, but a bunch of them? Humans didn't deal very well with beings of other species. The colleges strict for werewolves were just starting to work and, for now, only EaD.

After walking around for a while, taking a lot of pictures, they decided to go home. Nora was a little disappointed, as she kept trying to smell something different and delicious in the air, but nothing happened. Elenora noticed and understood her daughter, so she made no comments about it. When they got home, the three went to shower. Nora and Delina would remain at home, but Elenora had asked one of the caretakers at the orphanage to take care of everything during the morning, as it was her daughter's birthday. But in the afternoon, she would need to get back to work.

"Girls, I'm leaving! Behave yourselves!" She yelled from the foot of the stairs, before leaving, to which the two responded together with a 'bye'.

"Do you think we should go to the Miller's party?" Nora asked. Twins Denise and Carl Miller got their parents' permission to throw a party before exam week in July, as they have been doing for the past three years, ever since they turned sixteen.

"I don't know. Do you think you'll find your mate there?" Delina asked.

"Perhaps. Let's go, please!! Nora pleaded, both hands clasped in front of her face. Delina didn't want to go because she was afraid of meeting Kraig. He usually didn't miss these events. But, it was Nora's birthday and she would make that sacrifice for her best friend and beloved sister.

"Okay. Let your mother know. I don't want to sneak out." Nora agreed and the two went to find their best clothes and start fixing their hair.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kraig was lying in his room, listening to romantic sad songs. He felt bad about the whole situation with Delina, and today he was going to go to this stupid Miller party. He loved their parties actually, but now that he had a mate and couldn't be with her, everything felt dull, lackluster. And Zyon was still mad at him.

"Kraig!" Kendric entered the room, opening the door with a thud. "My man, let's raise the dust!"

Kendric went to the bed, pulled the sheet off Kraig's top, as well as took the headphones out of his friend's ears.

"Oh, leave me alone!" Kraig spoke, trying to pull the sheet back.

"No sir! You can get up, take a shower because yes, you stink." He had to take a step back to avoid being hit by Kraig's slap. "I'm just telling the truth. It's no use hitting me because your reek won't go away. A bath is what you need."

"I don't stink!" Kraig exclaimed, sitting up in bed.

"Okay, okay. Now seriously. Take a shower and we'll go to the party. I have something inside me telling me that tonight is going to be special."

Kraig rolled his eyes and stood up. The 'special' to Kendric meant lots of girls wanting to be banged by him. He was afraid Delina was there. But then he had an idea. If she was there, he would kiss as many girls as he could, in front of her. So she would accept rejection and the two of them could move on. He felt pain in rejecting her and he had read and heard that when a rejection is accepted, both parties are very sorry and may even die. At least she wasn't a werewolf like he was, and she probably wouldn't feel any more than she already felt being rejected.

"Awesome! I'll go get dressed." Kendric frowned. He was surprised at the sudden change in Kraig's demeanor, but afterwards, he just shrugged his shoulders and went to take care of his own clothes for the party.

During the shower, Kraig was nervous but confident that maybe Kendric was right. The night would be really special. Excited at the prospect of finally stopping feeling the pain of being away from her, after all, despite finding her beautiful, he was only missing the girl so much because of this stupid mate bond. He wouldn't have to suffer after his body adapted to not having a mate anymore. And then he could find a shewolf capable of being the Luna the Hamza Dum Pack deserved and needed, not a human who in the first rogue attack would die or be a hindrance to everyone else, especially him. The Pack couldn't be put at risk like that. There were many lives at stake.
