Chereads / The Alpha's Greatest Sorrow / Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Nora chose a nice moss-green dress, as it matched her more sallow skin, as well as her hazel eyes, which had a slight shade of green in them. She chose to let her long hair down, but made some curls at the ends with the help of a curling iron. The chain given by her mother and Delina was slung around her neck.

Delina wore a violet dress with black lace on top of the skirt. Her reddish, wavy hair was in a messy bun, with a few strands framing her face. On her neck she wore nothing, but in her ears, a long silver earring, which followed her neck. Both girls were wearing black high heels.

"We look beautiful." Nora spoke excitedly as they both stared at each other in the mirror.

"Yeah! Two princesses." They looked at each other and laughed. "If your mate is there, he won't be able to resist so much beauty."

Amid laughter, the two grabbed their respective handbags and went downstairs. Nora had a driver's license and her mother, who normally walked to work on Saturdays, allowed them to borrow the vehicle to go to the party.

"I can't drink a single drop of alcohol." Nora announced as the two of them got into the car seats.

"Sorry for not driving yet." Delina spoke, with a sad face.

"No problem. It's not like I drink at all." Nora shrugged, turning the key in the ignition. The distance to the Millers' house was reasonably short, so in less than fifteen minutes they were there.

The house was decorated in a casino theme. Every year it was a different theme, always a surprise for the guests. It was strictly forbidden to tell those who had not yet arrived what the theme was, so that it would be part of the fun to try to guess and see if the clothes chosen by the guests fit there.

Kraig was in a corner, drinking, looking at the front door of the house. He had chosen this place strategically, because if Delina showed up, he would see her quickly. Not that it was entirely necessary, after all, her scent was unmistakable and he could smell it from afar. So even before she got out of the car, he was already aware of her presence. He took a deep breath, took the last sip from his glass and waited.

The door finally opened and Delina's scent invaded Kraig's nostrils violently. He felt dizzy with how hard he was hit, closing his eyes, but when he opened them, the sight he had was too much. Zyon finally decided to talk to him.

"Can you please do something about this?" He knew his wolf was weak, but he couldn't go to her. He fought as hard as he could not to jump at all the males around who looked like bees hovering around the honey pot. She looked wonderful in that indecent dress. Yes, indecent, because he managed to delineate every curve of her body, even if the fabric wasn't glued to her. Her breasts were clearly well shaped, drawing attention to them.

Kraig decided that yes, he would do something about it. He saw a girl he knew was single and gave her a smile, even though he felt nauseous when he received her naughty smile back. He made eye contact with Delina and pulled the girl towards him. Immediately, the eyes of the girl he liked welled up with tears. He then, giving a sideways smile, kissed the stranger, causing not only Delina to almost run out of there, followed by Nora, but his stomach to turn to the point that he almost vomited in the girl's mouth. When Delina was out of sight, he let go of the girl and went straight to the bathroom.

The pain spread through his entire body. When a werewolf decides to betray his mate, they both feel excruciating pain. But Delina, being human, wasn't as affected as he was, who writhed on the bathroom floor. Zyon was desperate, as he didn't have the strength to contain it, in addition to being in deep suffering too.

Kendric, who was in the kitchen, smelled something deliciously different, setting off an alarm in his head. His wolf, Rage, woke up and started to get nervous. However, upon reaching the room and seeing his friend running up the stairs, he followed, leaving Rage furious.

"Kraig, open this damn thing!" He knocked on the door, hearing Kraig's wail on the other side. He pulled away and kicked the wood, causing the door to break. He grabbed his friend and led him to one of the bedrooms. Carl, who was nearby, was startled to see the broken door, but understood that Kraig was in bad shape and followed Kendric into the room.

"What is happening?" The boy asked, to which Kendric said he didn't know and asked Carl to leave them alone, in addition to not saying anything to anyone. Carl complied, after all, he knew Kendric would be the Beta once Kraig became Alpha, and it was better to be in their good graces when that happened.

"Dude, you're a mess." Kendric spoke to Kraig, helping his friend get under the covers. Gradually, Kraig calmed down, but tears were still streaming down his face. "Can you tell me what happened?"

Kraig looked at Kendric with guilt in his eyes, and Zyon connected with Rage and told him everything that had happened. Kendric paced the room in disbelief.

"I had no choice." Kraig spoke, earning a disapproving look from his friend.

"You deserved to feel that pain, sorry. How could you do this to her?"

"What a fine friend you are." Kraig said bitterly, pulling the blanket over his head.

"There's no use hiding under the covers, Kraig. She may be human, but you have a connection. She's not completely oblivious to pain, and you, with all your training, know that very well. I'm going back downstairs. I hope you reflect better and stop being an asshole." With that, Kendric left the room, slamming the door.

As he descended, the smell from before grew stronger. Freshly cut grass, along with muffins. His favorite scents. He followed instinct, hearing Rage jumping of joy. Kendric have always been terrified of finding his mate and be attached to someone he didn't like, however, at that very moment, he was afraid of not finding her. He passed among the guests, and then he saw her. Her slightly slanted eyes were unmistakable. She looked like a fallen angel on earth. The two walked towards each other, as if in slow motion.

"You." He spoke, reaching out and touching Nora's face. The electricity that coursed through his fingers and traveled up his arm, spreading through his entire body, was incredible. In that instant, the whole world made sense to him.
