Chapter 24 - RISING STORM

In the town of Mid-mount. Unbeknownst to Paul and everyone else, well everyone else who didn't have a person bitten by one of the 'rabies' patients. A night of pain was about to follow. Luckily for Mid-mount, most of the bitten people were in the hospital so they were quickly restrained when they started showing signs of aggression.

After all, that was what rabies was known for. The only thing worrying the doctors was the fact that the patients were not responding to the normal rabies medication. It had absolutely no effect whatsoever on them. They didn't know if these was a new type of rabies or an entirely new ailment.

Well, they need not worry about medication since the people who were acting up at the moment would be totally fine come morning. It was the same for every newborn Werewolf. Just like vampires craved blood when turned on their very first day. Werewolves craved living prey when they turned.

It was a State of partial madness. Some could be reasoned with whiles others, especially those weak willed normally lost themselves in the lust. It wasn't unheard of for newly turned werewolves to hurt or even eat their loved ones on their first night. Only coming to their senses either when they had ate their fill or the night ended.

But it was even worse on the night of the full moon. during that time, they absolutely lost their minds as they turned into their werewolf form. Their strength quadrupled and their only aim that night is to wreak as much havoc as possible before the moon waned. But worst of all, their hunger for flesh, especially human flesh is insatiable that night. It was one cruel fate.

Luckily, the town of Mid-mount was already on high alert from the previous night's incident so these new rabies patients were quickly restrained and sent to the hospital. Though others like Vera still managed to escape.

Hermes was on his balcony overlooking the street. Today,he hadn't gone to his favorite place even though he needed some coffee more than anything to calm himself. Currently,he was looking at a group of men who were struggling with a woman on the side of the street.

They were struggling because they didn't want to hurt her or touch any parts they weren't supposed to whiles trying to restrain her. She was acting like a cornered wild animal and the protector wasn't surprised the men kept mentioning 'rabies' whiles pointing at her. As Hermes watched this below, he wondered if he should go and assist them.

Maybe he should start tracking and killing these new werewolves whiles they were still weak. They were going to be more trouble than this town could handle. If left unchecked, they were bound to wipe out the whole town in a matter of months. He couldn't let that happen.

But what if he met that large Werewolf again?, The original. What would he do. He knew he stood no Chance at all against that man. He would lose in a fight and probably get killed.

'I can't let that happen until I fulfil my promise to the rest. I need to hide and protect myself until I pass on this chain.' he thought. He was growing angrier at his helplessness. A whole him, hiding from evil when his very existence was to combat it.

"Aaaaaah!!!' he yelled in frustration and jumped over the railing he was leaning against. The distance from where he was on the balcony to the ground outside wasn't much so anyone watching wouldn't have thought much about his jump.

They would have just thought he was practicing parkour or something. Although a little weird for a middle aged man like him, people did crazy things all the time. Hermes power-walked his way to the still struggling men.

"Make way!" He ordered the men who immediately stepped aside.

Wasnt that the historian?, What did he want here?, They asked themselves. As Hermes got closer to the girl, he balled his hands in a fist. This did not go unnoticed by the men.

"Don't tell me he's going to.."

WHAM!, WHAM!, WHAM!!

The man's jaw droppd as he saw what the historian had just done. Hermes had quickly incapacitated the woman when he got there with just three blows. One to the thigh. One to her midsection and a final slam of her head to the ground.

She had passed out immediately. Hermes now felt better. Even if he wasn't at his normal strength,he still had his experience.

"That is how you incapacitate someone." He said as he turned and made his way to his house. The men's Jaws were open in shock as they watched the historian's retreating back.

What the fuck had just happened?, Did that guy just beat a woman to unconsciousness?, And had he just incapacitated a raving rabies-infected patient with just three blows?, What mad kung-fu shit was that?, They asked themselves.

In a magnificent meeting room. A group of about thirty people were sitting around a large table. At the head of the table was a beautiful young man with blonde hair and deep blue eyes in his usual black and white tuxedo.

This was Hades or the big boss as some called him. Standing at his right shoulder, her face emotionless was his red-haired assistant in tight leather clothes showing off her beautiful physique.

The people seated at the table were none other than his associate's whom he had tasked with making him an army.

"I called you here today because our position has been compromised. Thanks to Brava, the other side now knows I and you all are now free."

The big boss flashed Brava a cold look as he said this. Brava could feel the hostile glares of not just the big boss but everyone else on him. He was finding it hard to keep his calm composure under all the judging looks.

"But luckily, I got a bit of good news yesterday. The protectors from what I was told are now very small in number. The fools had not rebuilt their army after the last war and are now left with barely fifty people under their command. Maybe they thought they had gotten rid of us for good", The big boss chuckled as he said this.

"All the same, I intend for us to attack them before they rebuild their strength. We will attack with whatever force we have managed to build these last few days.i hope the rest of you did not disappoint me like Brava here, and have enough numbers under your command to overwhelm the other sides meagre force?", The boss asked.

The people assembled around the table shouted 'yes' in response.

"Then we move in two days!" The big boss shouted back full of spirit. The others cheered in response.

The big boss hadn't mentioned the other reason why he had decided to attack so soon because he doubted what his 'partner' had told him the previous day. How could the protectors be as weak as he had been told?, He just didn't believe it.

The protectors had always been very strong and dangerous people from time immemorial. Even he had a fear of them even though he had been one of them at a point in time.

But what if what his 'partner' had said was true?, He asked himself as a hint of a smile flickered across his face. That would make things so much easier than he had expected. Much much easier. He smiled widely as he thought of this.
