Chereads / Playing With Fate / Chapter 2 - Helvean

Chapter 2 - Helvean

I was helpless, I couldn't do anything, I was just sitting there wondering whether things would have ended like this if I didn't make this decision. Was this what I wanted? Am I really going to die for a scumbag like him?

It can't end like this, it just can't. I just want one more chance to make things right. I don't want to hear their screams.

"Please just one more chance," I whispered as I was dragged out of my prison cell. The last thing I remember seeing were my tears on the cold iron floor before one last cry of hope left my mouth.

I woke up and I could just see darkness, I could sense a dark aura. I let out a sad laugh, "I guess this is the end after all," I whispered, a tear fell out of my eye. I saw a figure emerge from the darkness, "Am I dead?" I asked the figure, I heard a laugh, "Yes you are my child."

Hands emerged from the darkness and took me away.

My vision was blurry but I could see seven statues in front of me. I heard voices but I couldn't make out what they were saying. I passed out.

When I woke up, I saw the same statues. The room had a dome-shaped ceiling, half of the ceiling had angels and the other half had demons. The room was half white and half black. The floor had cold black marble, the walls were white. The statues were half white and half black and all of them had elaborate carvings. Five of the statues had a hint of red on them, it looked like blood.

"Where am I?" I asked, "In the pits of the underworld…mortals like you aren't supposed to be here," a voice boomed. 'I didn't choose to be here,' I thought.

The voice laughed. Another voice joined the conversation, "It's true the kid didn't choose to be here, in fact, we chose him to be here," it said. "Give the kid a break he's probably sick and tired of making choices," another voice said.

Where were these voices coming from? The statues' mouths weren't moving. I didn't even want to ask where the voices were coming from, I was too tired. My body felt stiff, I wished that I could just pass out again and then I wouldn't have to listen to their crap.

"Xavien, child welcome to Helvean," A voice said, "You just mashed the words hell and heaven together," I said with a hint of annoyance in my voice. "Helvean is the bridge between Hell and Heaven you can choose where you want to go," "There's always a choice huh…." I muttered.

"Hell or heaven, wherever you go you are given a second chance to live, but choose your words carefully. Whatever you say that will ultimately be your fate or at least in hell that's the case." "What's the difference between hell and heaven?" I asked, "Let's just say hell is much more interesting than heaven, in hell you can build your own life however, there is a price. Whereas in heaven the angel will decide your life and you'd have to say yes, whether you like it or not," a voice said.

"What's the price?" I asked, "That will be decided by Satan," another voice said. "So what will it be Xavien, hell or heaven?"

I was frustrated, why just why there's always a choice it's like you always choose the wrong one and suffer the consequences.

My brain told me to say heaven but my gut told me to say hell, "Hell," I said while staring at the cold marble floor. "I have a feeling Satan will like this one," a voice said. At this point, I didn't bother counting how many voices were there.

The floor split into two halves. I didn't flinch, I just stood there staring at one of the statues.

While I was falling, chains wrapped around my hands and legs and I was tied to a cross.

I smirked, "This is going to be interesting," I said.

I landed on hot red sand, the sky was black there were red mountains, crows were flying around me and I was next to a pool of hot red lava. It smelt like someone had died. I saw a figure sitting on a black throne, the throne had red knives attached to it. The figure was wearing a red cloak, he had black hair and beady black eyes. His lips were blood red and a drop of blood was oozing out.

"Satan," I muttered, Satan looked at me, "This is the fifth time those idiots have sent me another human today," he said, "Alright Xavien Park tell me your sob story-" Satan stopped, he stared right into my violet eyes, he licked his lips, "Forget the sob story, so you're the chosen one, they really couldn't have sent someone better."

I stood there just listening to Satan talking and muttering. Finally, he said, "Tell me, did you know your parents?" "Um yes," I lied, "Not those parents, your real parents you idiot," "I-" Satan interrupted me, "Ok so it looks like no one told you, well you are adopted and your parents passed on their boring duties to you."

"Well heck, go on," I said. I already knew I was adopted. Satan looked at me confused, "Aren't you going to cry or like you do stuff humans do when they find this out."

I snickered and laughed, "Not all humans are the same, I knew that I was adopted so there is no point in telling me that now," "So you're a smart one huh….I like that," Satan said.

"Now Xavien, tell me if just if you had a second chance in your eyes, what would a perfect life look like? Choose your words carefully," Satan said.
