Alex POV
Loren and I lay together in bed. We held tightly onto each other, scared to let go in case something else came to tear us away from each again.
It felt like home again to be so close to her, to feel her skin, to kiss her soft lips, to look into her radiant eyes and get lost in a dream. She felt slightly smaller than before, and I wondered if he had been struggling to eat since the battle. The trauma must have been hard for her to deal with, and I cursed Amedis for every moment I was not there to help her.
“The last moment we had alone together, I wished that it could have lasted forever.” She said softly, “I spent the last two weeks thinking about that moment over and over again, wishing that I was still there and that everything that had followed had just been a nightmare.
“Now here we are again, and I wish the same thing.”
I kissed her forehead.
