Derick POV
I staggered back under the weight of Oscar's punch and clenched my jaw. As he came down. he kicked to my side and I was barely able to block it in time. I swung out to counter his next strike, but he had darted away and came at me from the side.
'Fuck he's fast!' I blocked his attack and kicked out. With a strange twist he managed to avoid my hit and use my leg as a springboard. He pushed up against my leg and brought his body up and around to kick at my head. I blocked the blow but I lost my footing because both our weights came down on my right foot.
We tumbled down but Oscar was grinning as he levered himself around using his hold on my leg. He brought his foot down hard and I blocked flicking this leg up and away but I wasn't able to brace myself against the fall and hit hard. Oscar tumbled slightly as he landed safely, he jumped around and dashed towards me for another hit.
I kicked out hoping to catch him hard to the face or shoulder. There was no way a wolf could avoid the blow, not at this distance. My eyes widened as Oscar did something I wasn't expecting nor had I ever encountered. He grabbed my foot as I kicked at him and blocked the blow but used his own momentum to flick himself up into the air. My leg shot up as my foot was firmly placed on his hand against his shoulder. He twisted and brought both feet down at my chest.
Without knowing why I kept his momentum going and pushed myself into a backwards roll. His blow landed hard to the ground and he tumbled away from me taking my trainer with him. I got up and blinked.
"Is this how the Watchdogs fight?" I asked as Oscar got to his feet and tossed me my shoe.
"No, I wouldn't be holding back my teeth and claws if I was fighting for real. I could have torn you up good if I had brought them out." He danced around then looked around as a crowd had gathered to watch. I nodded then as I held my shoe in hand a faint memory dancing before my eyes.
"You…" I pointed. "You were that new fighter that participated in the Phantom Plaza Friday... Watching Shadow Vs Exterminator fourth match in." He grinned.
"What gave me away?" I smirked
"I haven't met another person that can twist in a fight like you." He grinned.
"Oh, I don't know. The Banshee and the Soul Sucker have handed me my arse on a few occasions and they are even more twisted than me." He chuckled at his own play on words. "Literally and metaphorically." I nodded and saw some of the others grinning.
"You know the Banshee?" He shrugged.
"She's kicked my backside around the gym on more than one occasion and got me the gig at the Plaza. But she wears a scent blocker and had a mask on during training." All eyes flashed to Lisa then back to him.
"Is she here right now?" Oscar shrugged.
"How am I supposed to know? Without getting a smell of her I wouldn't be able to identify her unless I was fighting her." There were a few sighs as the level of excitement fell.
Jenny's POV
I was in awe of the fight. My jaw was hanging open as I knew that Derick could not defeat Oscar in human form and would have to go wolf. Suddenly Derick flicked and Oscar bounced away with his trainer. I smirked and sat back but Lisa was getting nervous about something.
"Are you alright?" She nodded and I heard Derick ask about the Phantom Plaza and I changed my attention. Oscar gave a sarcastic smirk and shrugged.
When Oscar gave that disappointing answer about the Banshee she became calm again then looked around as Danica approached the training yard. With a little fumble Danica pulled out a ring and offered it to Derick. Lisa erupted with a growl and tossed the towel down then headed straight towards them.
Danica's POV
I had waited until the fight had stopped. When Derick looked like he was about to leave I approached.
"Alpha!" He stopped and turned to look at me a strange expression crossing his face.
"Yes?" I fumbled in the little pocket on my shorts.
"I have something for you. It's Jessica's ring…" I pulled out Jessica's ring and offered it to him. His hand came up to take it as his eyes took on a sad expression.
Suddenly a growl erupted as Lisa charged forward. She snatched the ring before Derick could take it then tossed it away into the tall grass.
"You little bitch!" She started. "I knew you were nothing more than a slut trying to slither your way up to an alpha!" she took a step forward ready to fight and I took up a defensive stance.
Suddenly an angry overpowering aura burst out and a snarl left Derick's mouth as he looked in the direction the ring had been tossed.
Derick's POV
I turned as someone called my name. It was Danica. She fumbled in her pocket the tight gym clothes making my eyes run over her figure then she pulled out a ring. At first I was confused but as soon as I fixed my gaze onto it, I know why she had brought it. It was Jessica's ring I reached out to take it feeling my heart breaking again.
Suddenly Lisa was there snatching the ring, my only keepsake of Jessica, then tossing away like it was nothing into the wild grass on the edge of the training yard. I wasn't listening to what she was saying. Even Murphy was shocked by this complete show od disrespect.
"Find that ring!" I commanded and a few of the warriors ran to the grass then began combing through it. I turned my gaze to the two that stood before me and saw the colour drain from Lisa's face while Danica stood her ground. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" Lisa regained her composure.
"She's a tramp that's trying to steal you from me. Giving you tokens to gain your affection." I held up my hand but Danica had already beaten me to it.
"What the fuck? That was a ring belonging to Maggy's mother. I had to collect it from the morgue because they wouldn't ship it with the body encase of accidental damage or loss." They two began to snarl at each other and I reached forward to pull Lisa away.
"Derick!" I looked back as my grandmother sat there her hands firmly clasped on her lap. "Let the women handle this." I saw the look Jenny gave me, but my grandmother was adamant. I gave Jenny an apologetic look as I left the fighting area. I could see Jenny trying to get to Danica but one command from my grandmother had her stuck to the spot.
