When Mo He walked out of the bathroom, he saw Xia Yan wrapped in a blanket like a cocoon, occupying the entire bed. He frowned and looked at the bed and knew it was impossible to share it with Xia Yan.
But there was only one bed in the room. Mo He regretted not taking his butler's advice when he suggested Xia Yan have her own room. He walked toward the bed and looked down at Xia Yan. "Hey, get up!"
Xia Yan kept her eyes closed and pretended not to hear Mo He. Mo He's tone became colder as he urged, "Get up. I know you're not asleep."
Xia Yan still kept her eyes tightly shut. She wanted to protect her right to sleep on the bed. Mo He stared at Xia Yan, and after a while, he seemed to have thought of a solution. He reached out and picked Xia Yan up.
Xia Yan was stunned. Then she opened her eyes and looked at Mo He, who was just inches away from her. "W-What are you doing?!" She cried out in shock. But at that time, she was wrapped in her blanket and had no means of breaking free. She could only remain still as Mo He moved her from the bed to the sofa.
Mo He threw Xia Yan onto the sofa with a loud thud. She cried in pain and finally pulled her arms out of the blanket. "You're not a real man, Mo He!" Xia Yan thundered.
However, Mo He calmly lay on the bed, closed his eyes, and replied, "Whether or not I am a man is not for you to decide." His words silenced the nervous Xia Yan.
Xia Yan wrapped herself in the blanket and lay on the sofa. She muttered under her breath, "You have no class for a man. It serves you right that you don't have a blanket to cover yourself."
After that, Xia Yan turned around and sulkily buried her face on the sofa. Mo He waited for a response, and when he saw Xia Yan remain still, he slowly raised his hands and looked at them in a daze.
When he lifted Xia Yan from the bed, he felt her soft skin on his hands. It was his first time being in such close contact with a woman's body. Xia Yan's feminine fragrance lingered in his nose, and her soft skin made him unable to sleep for a long while. After some time, Mo He finally fell asleep.
Early the following morning, a loud sneeze woke Xia Yan up. She turned her head and looked toward the bed in a daze and saw Mo He curled up as his entire body trembled.
Xia Yan was stunned before realizing that Mo He was freezing because he had no blanket to cover him the entire night. "What an idiot," she snorted before covering Mo He with her blanket.
Although Mo He had thrown Xia Yan onto the sofa tastelessly, at least she had the warmth of her blanket to protect her from the cold. She opened the door and saw Du Xia already standing guard.
"Du Xia, can you pour me a cup of hot water and prepare some cold medicine?"
Du Xia was puzzled as she asked, "Are you feeling unwell, Young Madam Mo?"
Xia Yan smiled embarrassedly. "Young Master Mo He seems to have caught a cold."
Du Xia looked into the room with surprise when she heard Xia Yan's words. She saw Mo He wrapped in a blanket as he shivered on the bed. Du Xia then hurriedly ran downstairs and reported the situation to the butler.
Soon after, Jiang Qiu and Qiu Xin came to Mo He's side and brought some hot water and cold medicine with them. Jiang Qiu didn't waste any time with Xia Yan's greetings as she rushed to the bedside to check on Mo He's condition.
Mo He remained on the bed and coughed. "Mom, why are you here?"
"I came to see you, my child. How did you get sick so suddenly?" Jiang Qiu asked with worry.
"Mo He, did that woman…" Qiu Xin wanted to ask him what they did last night that caused him to get a cold. But she couldn't exactly ask him this question. She could only point fingers at Xia Yan.
Xia Yan shrugged as she looked at Jiang Qiu and said, "I'm sorry, Mother-in-law. He's probably not used to living with a wife in the same room, so he…"
Hearing Xia Yan's words, Qiu Xin's face turned unsightly. "How can you be so shameless?!"
"Did I say something to offend you?" Xia Yan asked with an aggrieved expression.
Since the two had only gotten married yesterday, others couldn't ask much about the fact that they slept together. Jiang Qiu initially thought that Mo He was dissatisfied with his marriage and bride, but just as Jiang Qiu hesitated, Mo He said, "I didn't cover myself with a blanket last night. You don't have to worry about me."
