Mo He glared at Xia Yan before answering his mother, "Qiu Xin never asked me to give her the necklace."
Xia Yan rolled her eyes and scoffed when she heard Mo He's biased reply as she cursed in her heart.
Jiang Qiu would naturally believe her son instead of Xia Yan. Even if Qiu Xin had asked for the necklace, she would never admit it to Jiang Qiu.
"All right, fine! Not only did you hurt Qiu Xin, but you're also full of lies!" Jiang Qiu raised her voice and thundered at Xia Yan.
Xia Yan knew from that moment on that she couldn't defend herself as long as she lived in the Mo family residence. She wasn't bothered to refute and simply said, "Fine! You can believe whoever you want as long as you're happy!"
"Since so many of you are around to take care of Mo He, I'll leave for some fresh air. I won't stand around and be an eyesore to everyone here." When Xia Yan finished speaking, she exited the room without waiting for anyone to respond.
"Stop, Xia Yan!" Mo He shouted coldly. Then two servants appeared at the door, blocking Xia Yan's path.
Xia Yan took a deep breath before turning around to face Mo He. "Is there something you need from me, Young Master Mo He?"
"I told you that you're not allowed to leave this room without my permission!"
Xia Yan rolled her eyes yet again. "Have you already forgotten that your mother just told everyone to get out?" She used Jiang Qiu as a point of argument, rendering Mo He speechless.
Jiang Qiu glanced at Xia Yan before sitting by Mo He's side. "Let them leave, Son. I have something to talk to you about."
Xia Yan quickly left the room when Jiang Qiu finished speaking.
Then Jiang Qiu ordered, "Du Xia, follow Young Madam Mo, so she doesn't get too far."
Xia Yan sighed, glanced at Du Xia, and quickly walked downstairs. Then Du Xia nodded at Jiang Qiu and hurriedly followed Xia Yan.
Xia Yan went to the dining room and saw that Aunt Xu was busy. "Aunt Xu, is there anything I can eat? I'm hungry." She said as she sat at the dining table and looked into the kitchen.
Aunt Xu heard Xia Yan, so she exited the kitchen and saw Xia Yan looking at her expectantly. Although Xia Yan wore a black mask, her eyes looked exceptionally bright and full of expression.
Aunt Xu asked blankly, "What do you want to eat, Young Madam Mo? I can make you whatever you need."
Du Xia wanted to stop Aunt Xu, but she gave up after thinking about her actions. Meanwhile, Xia Yan didn't expect much. She looked at Aunt Xu pitifully and said, "Can I have a hot bowl of soup and noodles?"
Aunt Xu noticed Xia Yan's teary eyes. She then returned to the kitchen and prepared some food for her. Aunt Xu muttered as she cooked, "Madam Mo and Young Master Mo He are cruel. Xia Yan barely had anything to eat to this day."
"The porridge I made is only for Mo He. That won't be enough for Xia Yan," Aunt Xu said as she added two extra eggs to the bowl of noodles.
Initially, Aunt Xu didn't have a good impression of Xia Yan when she saw how violently she treated Mo He. But looking at how pitiful she was now, Aunt Xu's heart ached for Xia Yan.
Du Xis stood on the sidelines as she fixed her gaze on Xia Yan the entire time. Xia Yan noticed the little girl's burning gaze and started to feel uncomfortable. She turned around and looked at Du Xia. "I'm not going to run away. You don't have to keep staring at me."
Du Xia didn't respond to Xia Yan. She only looked at Aunt Xu and said, "Be careful, Aunt Xu. If Madam Mo finds out you're being kind to her…"
Aunt Xu had already walked out of the kitchen with a bowl of noodles before Du Xia could finish speaking. "It's all right. I'm aware of Madam Mo's temper. I only made a bowl of noodles so that Madam Mo won't be that angry," Aunt Xu chirped as she placed the bowl in front of Xia Yan.
Xia Yan looked at Aunt Xu gratefully and began eating without hesitation. After eating just two mouthfuls of noodles, her phone started ringing.
Xia Yan looked at the contact information on her screen and immediately answered the call, "Hello, Aunt Cui. Is something the matter? Is Grandma okay?" She asked anxiously, afraid that she would hear bad news.
"Don't worry, Little Yan. I'm fine." Xia Yan's grandmother's voice echoed from the phone.
"Oh, hello, Grandma. Why are you calling?" Xia Yan's voice became gentle when she heard her grandmother's voice.
"I miss you, Little Yan! How have you been since moving into the Mo family residence?" Grandma asked with concern.
Xia Yan never intended to tell Grandma that she had moved into the Mo family residence. However, Xia Rou had gone to Grandma and spilled the beans, causing her to miss Xia Yan even more.
"Rest assured, Grandma. The Mos are treating me well," Xia Yan replied softly.
