She kept calm and tried breathing, it wasn't easy though yet it was the only way she could heal faster and not get stomped on again.
"Come on Come on now." She wiped the dirt off her face again, the smell of the dirty water wasn't noticed by her she stopped noticing anything.
Be it how beautiful the day was or how bright the moon was by night, Nothing was worth yearning for in this pack.
Picking up the bucket that has its content emptied on her earlier, she turned to the other side of the house and began to clean off what she could before taking the back door into the Packhouse and down to the basement where she could get herself cleaned up.
The life of an Omega wasn't worth it, having a vague memory of your past and a blurry picture of how your family looked like or the even ridiculous reason on how you turned into an Omega.
But what was so clear about being one was that you are most likely to share the Quality of a rag except you get beaten and bullied by everyone except some Omegas who knew what it was when they were in your shoes.
She wrapped her thin towel around her body the material had lost all its cotton due to how many years of been used, Her brown eyes looked around the space that she spent in solitude, at the far end hung a calendar and a spot circled repeatedly as a reminder.
She sighed, at least she had a plan.
Lyra turned eighteen last year and found out two things.
She never shifted, instead, her healing factor increased.
secondly, She didn't find her mate.
These were two big things that changes the female werewolf's life, Lyra wasn't blessed with that turning point.
She planned on running away but then something happened that made her foolishly stay.
Eleven months and Two weeks ago.
The dark skin girl watched as her open flesh wound began to heal up rapidly, layer and layer of flesh began to merge till it was back to that smooth skin.
She went ahead and cut open that spot, it was as if she was testing a theory.
An incomplete Theory.
She sat alone in the room, which was only lit by the moonlight that escape into her through the only window that was equivalent to the ground outside the packhouse.
She was about to make another cut when the door creaked open and a skinny boy walked in with a sack bag and a flat tray with a cake on it.
"Thankfully you haven't run away." The boy said and made his way toward her, he already knew what happened.
"I know you don't fancy your birthday being acknowledged but today is different." he took the knife she was using to cut herself and kept it to his self
"I don't want to talk about it." She said lowly
"Fairly noted, but we need to get this Ritual over with." he unzipped the bag he came with
"What ritual?"
"Luna, Look everywhere. On this very day, you were born and this day marked a lot of things. That makes you not ordinary at all."
"Whatever you are doing it's working Trev." she let out a small laugh
" I know right, I brought some steak, I couldn't get some chinaware so we have to munch on it like cookies." He began to unload a lot of things from the bag
"You practically stole the whole kitchen." He opened a candle in the shape of 18 and lit it before carefully mounting it on the chocolate cake.
" The packhouse is practically empty and it's a festive period no one would miss us or this stuff, by the way, Mama Dino baked this cake."
After that small feast and fun night, Lyra went to bed. She was a little relieved thanks to Trevor though she couldn't sleep.
They are similar in more than one way, both Omegas. and didn't find their mate on their Eighteenth birthday.
But he was 23 and acted like a brotherly figure for as long as she could remember.
Unlike other higher ranks in the werewolf domain, where the males are maturely fit and attractive by the age of 10 or more. and by 18 probably ripped.
Trevor was different, he was thin and pale. but the bullies never cared and still assaulted him by every chance, he's a werewolf and could take anything.
But he was able to be with her and make her find comfort in his presence.
She sighed and closed her eyes letting sleep take over her.
The next day It was cold, her thin blanket wouldn't shield her from it.
She woke up and as planned by her and Trevor they would take a hike up the hills. because at that time the pack would be extremely knocked out to notice them.
She dressed and made her way there, rubbing her arms to reduce the cold air penetrating the jacket. After a five-minute walk up the hills, the fog was still thick and was hard to see but soon it cleared, and then she saw a figure not far.
Lyra cracked a smile and made her way to this person that she seems familiar with.
"Trev!" She hollered. "You're not always early, I'll give you this one"
He didn't reply. instead, he just looked at the horizon in front of him.
"Trevor..." He turned and looked at her, he was smiling bitterly bloodshot eyes his dirty blond hair disheveled, he looked different.
"Ha, At least one of my wishes was granted." Lyra was perplexed and felt something wasn't right about this situation.
Trevor has never looked this broken, It was like something happened, from the cuts and how dirty his clothes were it was clear he was beaten but knowing Trevor he would even make a joke out of it.
He was naturally big-mouthed, not today.
"Trevor are you alright?"
"Yeah, I am fine." His eyes were red and glassy, he walked slowly towards her, limping
"They are not worth it, Okay. I-I failed b-but that doesn't me you would, Okay..." He said hysterically
" Trev you're scaring me." she sobbed
"No, You're not scared. You can't be scared. not now, Not ever." He said strongly before placing his forehead on hers, she felt helpless.
"Trevor please...let me help, Okay I'll do anything."
"Promise me, You won't let them get to you. You will be strong, you will grow strong and make the whole world bow to you and only you," he said strongly like he wants it implanted in her.
"Trevor...
" Goddamit Lyra. Promise me.
"I promise, I promise, now let's go home.
"... Don't forget me, I promise I'll be with you." He said lowly and pressed her kiss on her head. He pushed her away from him and slowly back away to the cliff.
"Trevor, stop don't do it please don't..." She begged, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"It's okay." he smiled and then took another step making him free fall from the cliff, disappearing from her sight.
"Trevor!!"
