"Meryl, why did you say I am a fae? I'm not a fae. I'm a human." countered Aria because she felt sure she was an ordinary human. Otherwise, the Chavau wouldn't oppress her like that.
"Yes, you are a human. But you're a half-breed."
"Meaning?"
"It means you're a half-human and half-fae. We, elves, could see something that no one could see, and we could differentiate which is Alpha and which is a noble werewolf. We can also see who is a half-breed and who is not."
Aria was too speechless to hear this shocking news. Just imagine, she is a fae!! Who has ever thought?
But… if Aria was a fae, why did she end up in the mortal realm? Well, she is a half-human. Then... who are her parents?
No. This is not an urgent matter. Right now, Aria had to save someone first. Only then could she celebrate this delightful, unexpected reality.
"If I were a fae, I could use my power to heal Rousell's wounds!"
"Yes."
"But… I didn't even know I was a fae. How can I heal him?"
"That… I'm sorry. I don't know how fae's magic works."
"Okay. I guess I have to find another way for now. Do you have any other ideas?"
"Let me think." Meryl cupped her chin with her hand and lowered her eyes to the ground. She tried to dig into her memories about something, and she remembered a miraculous ointment from the healer in the werewolf realm. "Yes, there is something else that could save your friend."
"What is it?"
"But… I don't think you can get it."
"Believe me. There's nothing in the world that I couldn't get once I determine to have it."
Meryl looked straight into Aria's brown eyes while wondering where Aria's confidence came from. The fae race was brave, but only royalty had a strong sense of self-confidence and determination.
Meryl knew that one of Aria's parents was a fae, but she didn't know which fae Aria's parents were.
"Okay. I will tell you. It's a magical ointment created by a healer in the wolf pack. Rumor has it said the lotion could heal any injuries overnight."
"Seriously? Where can I get it?"
"In the werewolf realm, of course," replied Meryl in the most blatant tone as if her answer was the most obvious thing in the world.
"…"
"In the White Bridge Pack." as if the female elf was not satisfied dropping the bomb, Meryl continued again, "In the new Alpha King's room."
Boom!
Aria swore she had heard an explosion in her head as soon as she listened to her friend's last sentence. She would be courting death if she tried to sneak into the most prominent and the most powerful pack in the werewolf realm, let alone sneak into their Alpha room.
She would have to say goodbye to her beloved neck before even setting foot inside the Alpha residence. But right now, her top priority was saving Rousell, and her neck was second.
"I'll do it. But… how could I get through the portal?" Aria knew that ordinary humans would never be able to pass through the portal and could only remain in this realm.
"You're a fae. The portal would let you through to any realm you wish."
"Okay. But they would catch me once they see me walking through the portal."
"There's another portal inside the river, and you will arrive in the only portal in the ocean. If you are a water fae, you can breathe underwater."
Aria shook her head, "I can't breathe underwater. I drowned once when one of the arrogant werewolf kids pushed me into the pool."
Aria clearly remembered that one of her seniors who had lived and attended the same academy had pushed her until she fell into the swimming pool. She was eight and couldn't swim at the time, but that damn Lyodreck Wildridge didn't save her after knowing she couldn't swim.
After that incident, Aria learned to swim and tried to hold her breath as long as possible. She would never let people bully her by drowning her to death for the second time.
Everyone could wish for her death, but Aria would never let them win.
"Then, you can't do it."
"I can. I can hold my breath for a few minutes."
"No, Aria. It's too dangerous, and you don't know how deep the portal door is in the werewolf realm. Wait… I have something that might help you." Meryl ran into her house, where the other elves lived with her.
Not long after, the stunning female elf reappeared and gave her a blue pill.
"What is this?"
"Eat this before you dive into the river. It will help you to breathe underwater."
Aria's pair of eyes shone with enthusiasm hearing that
"And this is the map to where the White Bridge Pack is. Follow this red line because the guard there is very minimal."
"Thanks, Meryl. I know I can count on you." Aria's joy was beyondless, and she was proud of herself for asking for help from Meryl.
Meryl, which stands for Merethyl, was the most knowledgeable elf and was a concoction expert. Of her elven friends, Meryl was the friend she liked the most.
"And one more thing. Please come back alive."
Aria smiled when she noticed the concerned look in her elf friend's eye. "I will."
Aria walked toward the Kelnan river according to the map directions with strong determination and immense confidence. Aria waited for the sun to set, and everyone had entered their respective homes in fear of some rogue vampires feasting on their blood.
Aria was indeed afraid of the rogue vampires, but her fear was nothing to facing her dear one's death. She would be heartbroken if she lost Rousell. That older man has become like her own father, and she feels she has no purpose in life if she loses the only member of her family.
Aria climbed a tree to hide so that people passing by here wouldn't wonder about her appearance by the river.
At that moment, a very familiar butterfly appeared to approach her.
