Chapter 17 - 017: Awake

Divyat woke up due to very intense itching from his right arm, it was extensive enough that he was even feeling a lot of pain from it, especially since he was also feeling sort of restrained. He jerked up to a sitting position, not paying attention to his immediate surroundings as he grabbed a hold of the bandages that were wrapped around his right arm. In his frantic state, he didn't noticed that the last time he looked at his arm, it was missing from the shoulder down, now the bandages were stretching past his elbow and it was bloody and extremely uncomfortable.

He ripped the bandages off, each second more frantic than the last as the itching he was feeling was becoming near unbearable for him. And then soon enough the bloody bandages were loose and a bloody open wound was exposed to the air. Small ice vapors seemed to be wafting off of it, as the flesh pulsed and undulated as if a thousand worms were living within the tissue. The sight freaked Divyat out, he was close to hyperventilating with shock when he noticed it. However, a strong hand clamped onto his shoulder as a deep female voice spoke up to him.

"Id rather you calm down, waking up the entire village this early in the morning would be bad for both you and I. Especially so if they discover you can heal yourself from such a debilitating injury. Keep your mouth shut and bear with any discomfort you're feeling, that way we can both fucking live a little longer." The female voice said to him as he finally decided to register his environment and the person who had just finished talking to him.

The first thing he noticed was her grey hair; not hair that was white seeing how she looked to be no younger than thirty, but hair that was grey with age. It was smooth and silky and seemed to fall in a cascade down past her back to spill onto the floor. Considering she was crouching besides him, Divyat envisioned her hair probably fell right down to her ankles, with how much of it he was seeing. Her eyes were a sharp blue that was somewhat unnatural for eye color, thin lips and a small nose yet defined cheekbones with a little bit of baby fat still on it. She was wrapped up in thick clothes, probably due to the cold, and she didn't seem to be any taller than 5 feet. The most important thing he noticed however was the talons in her hands and tapered points of her ears, and her exposed feet which was showing not human legs, but rather a bird's.

"A Rakshasa!" Divyat exclaimed as he pulled himself backwards in shock, however she held on to him tightly, her talons digging into his shoulder as she forced him to sit still, eliciting a whimper of pain from him.

"Calm yourself boy! If I wanted you dead you'd already be dead. Now keep your voice down or we will really end up dead! Shut up!" the intensity in her eyes was enough to seize any other noise or protest Divyat might have. It was at this point he began to notice his environment, going stock exact of where he was right now. He seemed to be in an igloo of some sort. However ,the ice hut had furs of different beast placed in it liken to some sort of wallpaper to probably help retain heat.

It was small and just had enough space from a small mat he was laying on, and a shelf lining the entire igloo that held a variety of materials, many of them foul smelling and stomach churning. Others spicy, some really cloying and thick. After that was a small alchemical cauldron, it was black with soot and rusted in a lot of place with one of it's tripod stands missing and replaced with animal or beast bones. It has definitely seen better days, Divyat absent mindedly mused to himself, he noticed the iron door over the entrance of the igloo, and was shocked. It seemed completely out of place here, but he didn't question it too much as he turned his attention back to the only other person in the room, swallowing the bout of fear that echoed deep within his stomach.

"What's your name?" She asked as she forced him to lay down and began to press in and around his shoulder as if to check his bones, before shifting her attention to the wound, where she suddenly turned and picked up an icy box from the shelf. From within a paste was scooped out, before applied directly on the open wound. Almost immediately, relief from the intense itching was reduced and Divyat could not help but release a sigh of relief much to the amusement of the Rakshasa in front of him. It was then he remembered she had asked for his name, and while he would very much not like to expose anything about himself to a flesh eating demon/human hybrid, she didn't seem to have any bad intentions.

But then again with everything that had gone wrong in just this week alone, Divyat was not in the mood to trust anybody. So even as he opened his mouth to answer, he was looking for either an escape route, or something he could use as a weapon in case the situation might require it. "My name is Divyat." She raised an eyebrow at his name before speaking up.

"Your skin color is black and the name is not local, are you perhaps an immigrant from Western Isles? You do have traces of heritage from the Purple Sun continent. Perhaps a mixed breed?" Divyat was not at all comfortable talking to her about himself, especially about his ancestry no doubt, but he still opened his mouth to talk, hoping to keep her distracted long enough until he could find his way out.

"My mother is a native, but both my father and step father are foreigners from the Western Isles and the Iron Totem continent. My mother had me after an…. 'encounter' with my father. However, the moment he found out I was going to be born, he left the sect on a cultivation journey and never came back. No one has seen him in sixteen years, and he's still alive, last time I checked the sect's disciple repository, his identification seal was still active… he just never came back." The Rakshasa looked downright comfortable as she said.

"I might have opened a can of worms there… sorry boy. Sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me. And I'd advice you to stop looking for ways to escape, much less escaping this healing holding cell, you won't even be able to set foot outside of Demon Snow town, before you're ripped to pieces by either the monsters within, or the raging blizzard outside of it's protective dome. Now where are my manners, let me introduce myself. My name is Cao Lin, I'm an alchemist, a forger and an array master. It is nice to meet you Divyat of the Divine Sky Dao Sect."

Divyat was startled! She knew he was from the Divine Dao Sect, that much information when he hadn't been the one to give it scared him. And with the imperial dynasty/sect taking center stages in eradicating the Divine Sky Dao Sect, there were probably enemies everywhere ready to hand in any erstwhile disciples to the empire for a reward.

"Relax, I'm not your enemy. Let me get you some food, and then we can talk. At the very least, you need to know just what sort of hell hole you've drifted yourself into."
