"Well? Are you amazed at my fun skills?...Nikita?" We both stood there silent as the rest of the fun park roared with excitement. I glanced over at her and noticed she was looking everywhere for something and she had a stern look on her face. I flinched internally because I had never seen that expression before, it didn't suit the person I knew for that long. I reached my hand out to touch her shoulder, but only felt a shudder from her.
"Nikita, you're acting strange. Is something bothering you?" She gave her usual reassuring smile, and told me that it was nothing I should worry about, like hell I should.
"I...I can smell the scent out of one of my kind, and its strong." She said and started to walk towards the merry-go-round. Honestly, she didn't seem like she was fine, and it bothered me, I thought this day would be fun and she had a pouting face ninety percent of the time, maybe this wasn't something she liked. I was a fool, yet again.
I decided to stand and watch her, look around for someone who was apparently supposed to be her kind. The words shattered me in ways he didn't think possible, but I had to think for a moment. She had been with me for three months now and maybe she missed her home, and her people. So there was no reason to be sad about it, she was just homesick.
"Ezra!" I heard her shout and took off near one of the stalls. I didn't understand what was going on so I walked a little further towards her and saw her running up to a silver haired man and as she jumped into his arms. I went a little closer to take a good look at him, he was a masterpiece. Tall about 5"9 and had an amazing build, handsome and had the brightest smile I had ever seen.
"Nikita...I didn't even recognize you, gods you've become even more beautiful." She laughed and embraced him again as he dug his face into her hair. My hand clenched into a fist before finally calming down. What was I even getting worked up about? It was her life, period.
"Oh stop, what are you doing in the mortal realm?" He placed a kiss on her forehead and rustled her hair, making her smile in a way she had never done to me. I'm hopeless. I cleared my throat gently and they both turned to me still having the same smiles plastered on their faces.
"Oh, I'm so shameful, this is the human I've been living with, this is Kingsley. Kingsley this is Ezra...he..." She stopped mid sentence and glanced back at him smiling, the throbbing in my chest just got worse and there was really no way I could be feeling this way. I stretched a hand to greet him and he returned the greeting warmly, he seemed super friendly...just like her.
"Love, I've come on important business." He said holding her by the hand and kissed her knuckles softly, and her face turned to a light pink. I felt my face turn hot in rage, but I wouldn't explode just yet.
"What might that be? I know you wouldn't come if it wasn't important I know how much you hate this realm." He laughed and she followed its like I didn't even exist, It felt like she didn't need me there anymore.
"Well, you're birthday is coming up in four months, you need to prepare for your transition." He said looking at my direction. I shrugged in confusion and walked up to Nikita.
"I'll be at home, you remember the code to the door right?"
"Of course, I'll...see you later." She said and waved a goodbye before letting that Ezra guy drag her away. I stood there and felt a knife go right through the center of my chest. Shit...I was afraid this would happen, I like her.
