Chapter 44 - UNCONTROLLED

Everything seemed to have ended, the shield was gone, soldiers rushed over to the scene.

"THings seem to be a bit interesting," a cloaked figure atop a building some distance from the scene said smiling. "They may have gained some control of their powers but that's still some trouble. Hopefully, it won't be long before we can use them. Ah well, I'll send them to clean this mess up," The person turned and disappeared from where he stood.

Deadlock five, who had been watching everything called in for two more to come help him. He was angry and in pain, but his orders were clear and he couldn't intervene no matter what happened. With the help of the other two, they picked the three unconscious children and disappeared into the night.

Within the palace, people were panicked. The loud explosion and burst of light in the distance was seen by some and they felt unsafe. They had to be sent home, and the event cancelled. It was past midnight and the main part of the event was yet to happen, but they had to cancel it.

The event wasn't only Lia's birthday party. She was at the age where she should start cultivating and her parents decided to make it grand. Anytime from midnight, she could break into the world of cultivation and people would know what her attribute would be, or how powerful she was going to be.

A year ago, they held the same event for Mozrael and Aramith, who the public knew to be to be Fire attribute and Damned, respectively.Only a few people knew what their true attributes were.

The night went by and a new day came filled with its new problems.

In a bar somewhere...

A man drank his wine, placed his cup down and ordered it refilled. "Do you know what happened last night?" He asked the man next to him who rolled his eyes and looked at him oddly. "Who doesn't know that stuff already? Even newborn kids are telling the same story. It was an attack by some secret organization." His partner laughed and sipped his newly filled cup.

"Okay let me tell you the newest information. It took some digging to get this from one of the palace guards," He said in a cocky tone.

"How did you get a guard to tell you?!" His friend asked in shock.

"Keep it down, you. You don't want the wrong people knowing this," he reprimanded his friend in a tone that was heard by everyone around them. You could see he did that on purpose to get more attention which he did.

He proceeded to whisper to his friend, intentionally letting his voice drift off so all those around could hear him. He was the type that felt pleasure in getting attention.

"Okay, so I heard some people tried to kidnap the Princess last night."

His friend's eyes were wide as the sun. "What?!"

"Keep it down, you idiot!"

"Oh sorry," he looked around, noticing some were looking at them but pretended to be distracted by something else when they were spotted.

HIs friend rolled his eyes, but continued anyway. "Okay, so this group came out of nowhere and tried to capture Princess Lia. They even released huge lightning attribute beasts to capture her, but her attribute came in just in time and she was able to stop them but she passed out after that."

"That's insane. What kind of beast was that?"

"They said it was a bear-type beast with advanced fire and lightning."

CRASH!!!

Someone dropped a glass and all people in there sat up nice and proper. Soon after, royal guards could be seen marching past the bar. Two had swords, two with staffs, and one in the lead with two bags strapped to his side.

Mozrael opened her eyes to find herself in her room. The room was as she left it, save for the medicines she saw on a table next to her bed and an orb floating next to her head. Her body was covered in sweat which made her clothes stick to her body. She crawled to the edge of the large bed and slowly placed her feet on the marble floor, it was cold. She almost fell when she tried to walk and fell back on the bed. She got up again, letting go of the bed as she shuffled her way to the door without even thinking it. SHe leaned against the door frame, exhausted from that little task. Stepping out was harder. A cool breeze blew around her, it was cold. She didn't know where she was going, but her body knew the way. The walls were her support as she shuffled away. The hallway was empty and soon, she was at a door.

She grabbed the door handle and tried opening it but slipped and fell on the hard floor, grunting as pain spread through her body. After a short while, she was up again, but short-breathed. She felt the strong urge to go into the room and as she grabbed the door, a sudden weight fell on her heart. She knew the place, but at the same time, didn't know which room that was. The door opened and she stumbled forward, her sight going on and off.

"Lia," she rasped as she saw her sister on the bed, still and unmoving. The sight scared her and suddenly her energy drained and she was out cold on the floor.

Three maids who were attending to Lia stood confused and frozen. It was a miracle that Mozrael was awake, but how did she get there?

"She's here," a voice cried out at the door as a soldier stepped in, followed by Aiden and a few servants. He had a composed face as usual, but wasn't smiling so much. His face was just neutral, even after seeing Mozrael on the floor.

He squatted next to Mozrael and touched her neck to check her pulse. For a second, his face showed a bit of surprise which disappeared before anyone could notice. He got up and turned to those who followed him inside.

"Take her back to her room, and give her her usual treatment. After two hours, give her this," he handed them a flask. Half of them went away, taking Mozrael with them back to her room.

Aiden moved beside Lia's bed and stared at her. She was as still as a doll, wearing white. Aiden studied her a bit, but frowned as he noticed something around her neck. He tilted her head to the side and pulled her hair to one side, revealing a tiny needle which he swiftly pulled out. He sniffed it and his eyes widened in shock as a slight dizziness washed over him.

"What...what is this...whi..." He shook his head and scanned the needle once more, then injected some youm in it, studying it further as his frown deepened. Without uttering a word, he took out a needle, and extracted a small amount of Lia's blood, then left the room.

He quickly went to his study room, placing the needle in a tray. and the blood in a glass flask. The little drops made the flask glow dark green. numbers started to appear on the flask, then different holograms of plants started to appear above the flask, then disappearing. This went on for minutes, till one plant was left glowing . He looked at it , and the more he studied it, the more unesase he felt. it was just...impossible.

He gave out a loud sigh, then slumped into a chair, defeated. There was a knock on the door, but he didn't respond. The door opened and when he saw Henndar open the door, his worry increased.

Henndar smiled benevolently at him. "How is it that you look like the whole world rests upon your shoulders when even I, the king don't feel that way. Cheer up, hahaha!"

A small smile was seen on Aiden's face, but it disappeared shortly.

"I wish I could, but we're in danger," Aiden got up , then pointed to the plant that glowed on the table. "We have dangerous enemies among us here."

Henndar couldn't smile much after looking at the plant. His voice lowered to a whisper. "How is this possible? That thing should be extinct," He frowned.

"I thought so myself, but to make matters worse, someone is using it to poison Lia. I suspect a certain old man to be capable of doing such a thing, but I cant be so sure.If it isn't him, then it can only be that religious group."

"Hmmm"
