Lia looked at Ara, not quite getting what she was getting at. "But I am a child. Look at me, which part of me looks like I'm grown?" She pouted
"Well, you do look like you're starting to grow, but your brain will need many more years before it can start to show signs of growing"
"Hey!"
Ara waved her off, completely ignoring her as she turned to Mozrael to speak, but Lia wasn't going to sit and get ignored so easily. No way she was going to be a supporter of such treatment. [PEACE WAS NEVER AN OPTION]
Ara noticed Lia and quickly put a palm on Lia's face. Lia was now flailing in Ara's grip. Ara on the other hand completely ignored her and spoke to Mozrael with a smiling face while suppressing Lia.
"That crystal is not as simple as it looks, do you think you could use its power? Maybe it could help you develop your skills?" Ara asked gently and carefully. Mozrael looked at the crystal with so much scrutiny it would have run away if it were alive. She then turned back to Ara, "I'm not entirely sure but I think it's compatible with-"
"Ugh, you're so mean! And what's with your grip, are you a gorilla?!!" Lia broke out of Ara's grip and complained bitterly. "I don't care what you think or what you're going to do, Ara but I'm buying it for Mozrael."
Heh? I'm like a gorilla? Ara could only feel trouble rising right after she heard Lia say those words. "Lia, you shou-"
"Thirty-thousand gold coins!" She shouted, and the silence that followed was stifling. It became so quiet you could even hear your blood as it flowed through your body if you listened carefully. The people didn't know whether to laugh or cry. What the heck, the highest bid at the moment was fifty-thousand gold coins, so what was this girl trying to imply?
"Heh? Why is the whole place so quiet?" Lia thought out loud confusedly, then suddenly laughed loudly "hahahahaha look at their faces! The people here have never seen such an enormous amount of money, they're shocked out of their- own…why did you hit me?" Lia looked at Ara offended.
"Dummy, are you even here? You have to bid the highest price if you want the item." She educated Lia
"What? I know that, everyone does." Ara, are you dumb?
"Then why bid thirty-thousand?" Where's your brain even? Dummy!
"Huh? No one started bidding, so I bid first. See how silenced the rest are. Mine's the highest bid, so if anyone else wants it, they'd have to bid higher than me," Lia said rather smugly as she looked at all the 'poor people who were too shocked to speak. [Yeah she got that one right, they were too shocked to speak]. Ara was going to talk some sense into that muddled head of her's but before she could do so, laughter; very mocking laughter came from the side. She looked there as well as Mozrael and Lia only to see the only other girl up there, Iris Elwick. She laughed so hard, holding her belly for some seconds before calming down to speak.
"You little brats wish to compete against me and all my wealth?" she mocked, " I'm sorry but if you want that pretty little rock over there, you'd need more money than that. The highest bid now is by me, fifty-thousand gold coins. You cannot possibly get much money, so why don't you just sit down and enjoy the show since you've already spent all your money to get up here and sit amongst the rich, or maybe you can just go home and complain to your parents," she said with the tone of someone giving advice which made it all the more insulting. Lia knew what she was trying to do and just smirked
"Who cares about money? I have more than enough money to do whatever I want" Lia said with the air of a rich aristocrat while waving her hand.
"Don't try to protect your fake dignity, you're only going to disgrace yourself. You just used up all your money, that puny little thirty-thousand. You're too poor to even be sitting here amongst us nobles," Iris spoke with her chin raised with pride, looking down on Lia and the gang.
"Money? Of course, I have money. I have more than enough to buy you and all your ancestors. Your whole family would be mine to control if I just them my money. They would only bow…to…me"
"You…" Iris was infuriated but her brother held her back from doing things rashly.
Ara and Mozrael were surprised at the venom in Lia's voice, a tone she rarely used. They would have stopped her, but they chose not to. Lia was going to say worse things. They chose to rather sit and enjoy the show. Lia could be toxic at times, and this was a rare show they wouldn't dare to miss. There was even a chance that if they were to intervene, she wouldn't think twice before attacking them even though they were on the same side
"Fine, you said you bid fifty-thousand, right? Then I bid fifty-thousand and one gold coins!"
Iris was annoyed, "Fifty-one thousand gold coins!"
"Fifty-one thousand and one gold coins!" Lia added a coin to what Iris had just bid
"Fifty-five thousand!"
"Fifty-five thousand and one!" she added a coin again
Iris was getting mad at this exchange, and the other people in the auction house found it frustrating as well. All she did was add a gold coin, did she have the money or not? Who wouldn't bid a very high price for what they wanted instead of just adding a gold coin to whatever price the other party announced? It was obvious she was only doing that to annoy Iris but then she still wanted the item just as badly. She was killing two birds with one stone. The people didn't like it, but after a while, they started to enjoy the spectacle. They remembered how unhappy they were when Iris had stolen their wanted item, so seeing someone else doing something worse to her, they were a little relieved. KARMA!!! They started to appreciate that girl, whoever she was. What could Iris possibly do? They were all in the VIP area so that meant that girl had a good family background, but which family was she from to go against the Elwicks? Who were she and the other two girls she was with?
Iris continued with Lia but stopped at some point when she saw the eyes that looked at her. The expressions on those faces all pointed to her looking stupid. She did feel like a fool. She had been egged on by that girl, fueled by her pride and anger. She glared at Lia and Lia looked back at her smugly.
"What? Did you give up already? Just when things were starting to get fun you run out of money. I was starting to enjoy it," Lia mocked her and Iris was getting more enraged now.
"You have a big mouth for such a small person. If you want it so much, why don't you bid a large sum instead of adding that cowardly single coin!"
"Well, how small did you want my mouth to be? As small as your tiny brain? I don't get you. I only have to bid the highest, and I think that's what I'm doing so…" she shook her head disappointedly then continued.", too bad you didn't realize how much of a fool you were making yourself. I can't believe someone from the Elwick family could be so dumb. Are you even sure you have Elwick blood flowing through your veins? Based on your brainpower, don't you think you were adopted?"
Iris was so mad her face had turned an ugly shade and she could just swallow Lia up. "SHUT UP SHUT UP! I HATE YOU!" She shrieked at Lia. Lia wrinkled her nose at her and frowned
"Oh please close that mouth of yours, the putrid fumes from that are assaulting my nose. Are you even a lady? Don't you think you're an ogress?" She ended her statement by throwing something fast at Iris, but Iris caught it reflexively only to realize they were two silver coins. "Maybe you could get yourself something to give you some good breath" Lia's voice came with some mirth.
"You…" Iris' face turned dark and she got up and was stomping towards Lia. The girl was taking her mockery and insults to a whole new level of annoyance. If she didn't do something to her about it, she was only going to suffer more embarrassment. She had already lost some face in the presence of so many people, she wasn't going to leave it at that and let her reputation suffer more than it already had.
Ara saw Iris approaching them with all her anger. If things weren't brought to a calm, they would be settled in an ugly manner. Iris was now closer so Ara stood before her to block her path. "Stop this nonsense at once, you two," she said but was mostly referring to Iris. Iris glared daggers at Ara and her anger could almost be felt.
"Move aside, table-top. " Iris jabbed a finger at Ara's flat chest. After she said that, they now noticed how perfectly flat her chest was, almost like a boy's chest. There was nothing, not even a tiny little bump to show that she was feminine. Even though they were still so young, others her age could at least show small signs of promise, but Ara was… a chopping board.
[Ah…finally found my new tennis board. LET'S PLAY!!!]
