Chapter 31 - Hot seat

She sat on her seat; warm, cosy and soft. Soft, sucking her buttocks in but at the same time hard; bouncing it back.

Under scrutiny of her cousin, she ate her food; jollof rice and turkey. Eating the way she had seen Hailey eat and the way she had learnt to eat it, not bothering to touch her fork. She spoon-fed herself, letting her head fall and her eyes in the meal, not checking on Fred, if he was eating or not. Well, where was the space to eat when all his attention was fixed on her? Did she say her seat was now getting hotter?.

On one or two occasions, did he remember he had a plate of jollof rice and turkey in front of him as par Diva's request, the other times he just took the orange juice in bits, his eyes resting casually on Diva.

He noticed how she buried her eyes in her food and how she had neglected the fork, using only the spoon in her right hand. She noticed nothing of him. Throughout the trip she only had her eyes fixed on her phone, sparing less a second to look at him.

He would have loved for her to speak. At least wish him a happy birthday as it was his birth anniversary today. That was if she even remembered. He sighed and shook his head, this time deciding to eat of the rice.

Diva reached for her glass of juice and sipped from it. She was just about placing it back when Fred's question reached her ear. She almost tumbled the half filled glass off the table but was on time to save her face, sliding it from the edge, closer to the middle.

'Using the culteries properly is the third most important thing to learn for every royal of your kingdom. Don't you think you are being too mundane?'.

Really?. Fews hours ago, she was correcting Hailey, now she was being corrected?. Was she impacting or was she being impacted on?. But why was she feeling as if it was normal and that there was nothing abnormal or out of place with what she was doing?. Did she say she was the least bothered?. No, she didn't. She went for the glass again, taking longer sips this time.

'Firstly, how I eat is none of your business. Secondly, I am far away from my Kingdom. Too far to keep up with those ethics. In order to live in this side of the world, I have to drop every atom of princesshood and face reality. I have to blend. Pardon me, but please with all due respect, I kindly ask that you face your own life while I face mine. Our relationship will only strive on one rule. Mind your business!'. She yelled out the last words gaining the other customers' attentions. Fred saw the pool of attention she had drawn to them but Diva was too angry to see it, that after yelling out her frustration, she immersed herself in food. But somewhere between eating her meal and drinking her juice, she heard the whipsers of some of the women to their partners.

'Is she not too young to be going out with a guy?'.

'She is even a student of Royal Highlight. Seriously, is this how promiscuous their students are becoming?'.

'The guy is even calm. ¹To say I de the guy shoe now, I for just land her one slap, rearrange her face for am²'. Diva coughed on the woman's words. Was she speaking in another language that sounded so much like English? Or was she just speaking English but not fluently?.

She rose her head to meet Fred smiling whilst shaking his head. Stifled laughter reached her ears and she had to bite on her lips to withhold her anger and dwindle the urge to cuss him out.

'Isn't it cute, how they think we are lovers?'. And before Diva knew it, he was already patting her head, letting his fingers trail on the wavy pattern she had drawn at the edges. She furrowed her brows and in time, slapped his hand away.

¹–²; if I was that guy, I would have slapped her and left scars on her face.

The lady in Pidgin English.
