Chapter 10 - Determination

' Well..'. He started. '...if you feel that using the stairs is very tedious, the elevator is functional for your use at any time '. His foot climbed the last step and he turned to have them climbing the very last tread also.

Dawin and Diva exchanged looks. So there was a goddamn elevator!

'The room is right at the corner'. He added and started walking again.

Before he could take the fourth step, Dawin stopped him. 'Would you mind showing me her room? I will carry her there '. The butler glimpsed at Diva and saw her using the railings for support while perspiring.

He pointed at the adjacent door. 'That's your room. Your dad's room is on the far right. If you need anything, there is a switch on the wall by the door. Just push the button and I will be at your beck and call'. He bowed and turned to leave.

'Can you get us a bag of ice also?'. Dawin intercepted, the man nodded in approval and left.

No need for a butler who had better options but decided to take the toughest ones. The room was just opposite but who knows if they would have to climb stairs on the roof before getting there, with the butler around.

He offered his arm of service but Diva declined and proceeded in walking.

Dawin stood in amazement as she lurched forward, weighing her every step. Two steps and he was by her side, extending his hand again. She turned him down and continued.

' Can you stop being stubborn and just accept that you need help?. If you continue like this, by noon tomorrow we will still be a foot away from your door '.

Even with his sarcasm, she was ever determined. She looked at the distance between the door and her bearing. They were several feet away and she had just walked five steps from the stairs.

She took in deep breaths and placed afoot to continue but was scooped the next minute. 'Drop me down! Drop me down! I can walk. I said drop me Dawin!!!'. She pounded at his chest while wiggling her legs in the air, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

He giggled at her actions. ' A princess is not meant to do that '. Striding the floor, he came to stand at her room's door.

With her still in his hands, he turned the door's knob and pushed it open.

The lights were on, magnifying the astounding beauty of the room. Lowering his hands, he dropped her gently on the bed with her swollen left leg hanging out of the bed.

The king-size bed had her on a little portion of the white fluffy duvet. Right from the layered bedding comprising of six textured pillows, a soft sheet, and the duvet, to the greyish painted bed frame, the nightstand, to the animal skin rug, up to the white curtains, straight to the vanity makeup mirror which stood on a dresser, the overhead lamp, shelves stocked with solid books, a full-length mirror and then to an enlarged portrait of her on the wall. Dawin's eyes ran the entire decor of the room.

'Very feminine'. He uttered in a less audible tone. ' Your dad got the best for you, I must say '. He knelt on the ground and placed her swollen foot on his knees. 'Have you thought of what you would be adding yet?'. He asked as he massaged the foot. A craft he had learned from his mother's maid.

Diva who was about to doze off again was caught off guard when his hand touched the exact spot of the pain. She whimpered in pain and fought the urge to shout.

'It's painful. Stop please'. She begged him but the latter being angrier at the look of the leg after being unattended to for some minutes, pressed at it harder in an attempt to reduce the size it had risen to.

She bit her lips, to swallow the shout that was about to escape her mouth. Hot tears raced down her cheeks as a sharp pain shot through her body. She pleaded once more and even tried slipping out of his grip, but his masculine strength overcame her.

A knock on the door saved her as Mr. Edward entered carrying the bag of ice they had requested for. Dawin collected it and placed it on the leg immediately, letting the cold run through her body.
