Chapter 2 - PROLOGUE II

The sound of shattering glass filled the room and out of horror than shock, she jerked out of the bed. Sweat beads formed on her face as she clutched the sheets hard, underneath her. Her breathing hastened and in an attempt to steady it, she placed her hands on her chest. It was just a nightmare.

Everything. Every single thing in there felt so real. She could still feel the cold in her room and the hair of her arms stood at the thought of it, so she rubbed against them to ignite heat within.

The heat she had expected, filled and warmed her up. Her body was getting better from the horrific incident but her mind was still sketchy and cloudy.

The race, she knew it, she had to run and although at some time, felt swollen in the leg, she kept running to safety. She remembered how those trees at some point, stretched forth their branches like arms to wrap her around. How the roots on the ground crawled in their numbers against her. How the wind howled gravely and how that man..... that being kept pursuing her and did not stop till he caused her fall. She remembered every single detail and strangely they felt less surreal.

Pains. The pains started trooping in. Her legs started feeling heavy. She stopped immediately and focused all her attention on the source of the pain. Throwing the blanket off her body, she examined her leg thoroughly.

They were so swollen and painful. How?. She did run but not in reality, in a dream. How could she be affected in real life? How did a dream have its effects in the real world?. She ran her finger down the leg and indeed the pain she felt earlier was nothing compared to the ones around her ankle. Tears dropped down when she started massaging them. It was as though she was being punctured in the veins. She kept massaging but the more she did, the more they increased, unrelenting.

Her mind and body were wounded but there were questions to be asked and answers to be gotten. How did she get running in the fast place? Why was she being pursued? What wrong did she possibly do? Why would she be affected in a dream and it was reflected in the real life?. Who was that man?. The more she tried to provide suitable answers, the more they became questions. She shook her head to ease her mind.

Suddenly the room became heavy and extremely cold. Precipitously, she turned, and there he was standing by the door. His claws, the reddened eyes, the fangs. The man that hunted her. That unknown being that caused everything. The one she probably hates right now. Her leg is swollen and aching because of this devil. Well now that she is not running, she could kill him.

As she thought of these things, a violet light shone around her. Her hands clamped together and her eyeballs shifted colors from white to pink, to deep pink, and then purple. Nature responded to her call. The violent wind blew the curtains open. Books shifted, pieces of furniture moved, items fell, and everything in the room surrendered to the strong force of nature. And when it seemed as if all the powers she needed have been summoned, she aimed at him.

Expecting him to be scared and a little shaky, she aimed at him but never did she expect to see him holding his stomach like he was in pain, bleeding from the mouth, and leaning on the door frame for support. Her heart softened a little and the glowing light dimmed. Nature reversed its action and everywhere became silent. And when she tried to leave the bed to help him, he disappeared.

She gripped the bed frame and plumped on the bed. She was trembling within and her hands too. What just happened?.

Was she just terrified at the fact that he was about to die and that's why she rushed to save him? Or did she just hurry to help him because she wanted to be sure that she was the one that pushed him into that situation and not something else?.

Denial and belief fought for space in her heart as she pondered on what just happened. But there was one thing she would not deny and certainly one she will not believe. That as she watched him in pain, she felt a sting in her heart, as if there is a connection between her and him. A strong connection that could communicate pain.
