Chapter 10 - Ch 10 - Arrows solve all problems

Packing his thing up, tidying up his cave, and overall reminiscing - Arius was ready to set off into the city of Orario. *Bye cave, home... thing* the only things being left behind and not put in Arius's expansive inventory was the lone bathtub in the back left corner of the cave.

Taking out the badly drawn map Arius glanced at his location in comparison to his only landmark, the cave, and set out towards the closest highway. the breeze against his face as he ran along the trees was a welcomed refresher along his journey to new heights.

Making it onto a highway that reached for as far as the eye can see, Arius glanced down at his map for but a mere moment but by the time he looked up, there were men in beat-up leather armor coming out around him from the forest. "hey kid, you shouldn't be out he alone" said one particular bandit who was in light plate armor. "ya' may even find yourself in trouble~."

*Come on, I know this is technically a world thought up from someone's head but these bandits are just too well-timed,* Arius thought *not to mention their bad lines.* "come on let's get this over with" this time Arius's voice came out with a monotone sound almost as if he was an undead!

"Sack um'." with such little conversation Arius went into his first battle with humans. though holding back wasn't his thing, no matter the opponent. Arius popped his bow out of his inventory along with two arrows, aiming to kill a bandit charging him. once that bandit was on the ground in a pool of his own blood, an arrow threw the eye and out the back, Arius aimed at the second bandit charging him. but before this shot could even be taken he was hit from behind, sending him to the ground.

"Not too tough close up huh." the bandit leader who was the one who hit him of the two left said. getting rolling out of the way of a spear Arius stood to find himself drained of energy, and throbbing pain coursing his body. still standing Arius stood and readied his shaking bow while creating distance. the Jump for distance was all Arius needed to get himself under control and fire another arrow this time at the spearman Bandit who was charging once again.

The arrow found its mark thanks to [Pain resistance] G stopping the shaking of his bow and helping him ignore the pain. it was now just Arius and the bandit leader with his cheesy lines. " If you want something done," the bandit leader started while charging, "do it yourself!" and finished with a swish of his halberd towards where Arius's neck was just moments ago! Arius himself was creating distance while wishing he had gotten a war sythe or something for close-range already! Firing an Arrow towards the now distanced opponent, Arius smiled, he had added a gift to for the bandit a nice one too. said gift was the very last of his bombs, running him dry of SP unless he sold his Valuable, table and chair.

Receiving the Gift with his halberd's shaft and readying to strike again with his cheesy lines the Bandit was blasted to smithereens. with a close to the battle Arius trusted that his state values went up and continued his journey onwards Toward Orario.

The Gravely path led onwards and while walking along this path, Arius was passed by a single carriage that rushed by in a hurry, almost as if on the run. later during this walk, Arius encountered some more Bandits and swiftly dealt with them, leaving behind their corpses after selling their gear for some spare change of 15SP.

Approaching the end of the forest Arius emerged into the Grassy plains with the city of Orario in his sights. from the path he walked Arius could find many animals in the fields including Rabbits and some deer near the edges of the forest.

But up ahead on the path the same carriage that was in all the rush was stopped. once again Bandits blocked the way but they were quickly being dealt with by guards hired by the carriage.

"Hey you, scrawny kid, you going to Orario?" an old-looking guard called out to Arius "What am I saying of course you are! What else is in the direction." this man was tall and with an athletic build being almost 6'7 (200cm) and a nice beard to go with his chiseled jaw. "wanna ride inside?"

"Thanks, but I'm good. tho, could you tell me if there's an entry tax for Orario?" Arius questioned, knowing the answer to be yes but not knowing how much he would need, not that he had any money in the first place.

The old man seem a bit shocked by this but answered quickly "ya there is an entry fee, call it a tax, Tax is 50 valis kid. But how are you heading there and not have this info?" the old man seemed to be saying this out of concern but was soon called away to continue their journey "hey Bern get over here in the carriage before we leave without you!" With such a call from his companions, Bern got into the carriage without a fuss and was on his way towards orario. Arius was then jumped by the remaining Bandits who hadn't run far, once again forgetting to take their money and only selling the gear for SP once again.

coming closer to the gates Arius could find a line waiting for him, while not very long it would take Arius an hour to get threw the 4 people, and 2 carriages in front of him due to the systematic searches of carriages. upon finally making it to the front one of the duo of guards stated "where are you coming from, and please pay 50 valis to enter" this line was recited perfectly and in a bored tone, the guard went so far as to add a sigh onto the end of his statement.

"um, sir guard I'm coming from a forest and I'm broke. to be more specific I have never left the forest." Arius told the guard while slightly nervous and dazed by the grey aura around the man that only he seemed to see.

"no money no entry, sorry kid. Now get to the back!" the guard shouted grabbing the attention of all the others. even an old guard who looked on the verge of his mid-sixties.

"hey germ let the kid pass I'll pay for him, don't worry. hey kid, what's your name?" with this offer Arius's problem was resolved. But Arius was more focused on the no slightly brown aura around the man after making small contact with him.

"Ahah~ um, my name is Arius sir." Arius was flustered but not by what they thought. he was truly flustered by the screen that displayed the emotions that the other felt towards him. *why is he disgusted?! I had taken a bath every day in the cave!*

"Come on threw kid," the senior guard said "the names Bernard, Bern for short. why are you coming to the city like this?"

"I wanted to delve into the dungeon and uh, become stronger! but sir, why did you pay for my entrance?" ARius asked after stuttering out his previous response.

"Did it cause you remind me of my grandson kid," Bernard said while offering a handshake. Arius took the handshake albeit akwurdly. "but you got a bad handshake just like him so I'd say it's worth it. hehe~ bye kid." and with that Arius's chance encounter with Bernard came to an end.
