Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 - Delving into danger

Arius was entering the dungeon for the first time of the day, intending to reach the sixth floor. the fourth floor was dangerous for a solo newbie adventurer like him. the dangers were numerous, from kobolds to killer ants, and with the enemies getting stronger Arius would need to pay more attention.

but as an oblivious fourteen-year-old, Arius not only ignored any warning he got to not go here but didn't even prepare for this venture. and with only a staircase separating Arius and the sixth floor, the real start of difficulties in the dungeon, Arius checked his status.

observing his own status, there was something that Arius had picked up on but never really questioned up till now. 'hey bro, why does my magic jump up when I have never used magic before.'

no response came back from bro, and as Arius reached the end of the stairs to the sixth floor he stopped looking for an answer. walking down a random corridor trying to avoid the small adventure groups he could see along the main hallway, Arius came into immediate contact with kobolds. a dog-headed humanoid creature with deep-colored fur ranging from dark blue to black, and finally white.

The few kobolds that appeared from the walls as Arius approached, were blue-furred in color with bright red eyes, and after a momentary stare-down, the group of kobolds encircled arius.

trapped in the middle of five Kobolds Arius got ready with his trusty... bow? with an awkward smile Arius thought *I need to stop adventuring unprepared.*.

seeing this momentary lapse of focus a kobold lept towards Arius and while Arius did react it wasn't fast enough costing him a wound to the upper thigh. following the first kobold's lead, the other kobolds started to attack in a rabid manner leaving no time to react to Arius being beaten badly Arius took an arrow and thrust it upwards into the skull of a kobold, killing it instantly.

"help, someone, help please" Arius shouted while frantically grabbing another arrow from his dwindling supply; attempting the same move Arius once again got an arrow lodged in a kobold's skull, making the last three kobolds more cautious, slowing their attacks.

But even with their slowed attacks buying more time, and Arius's cries for help, nobody came.

while the sixth layer of the dungeon wasn't that different from the first few floors with the addition of war shadows, killer ants, and the removal of goblins, it also came with more noticeable changes such as the tunnels being lit with green, and the walls turning into shades of brown.

noting that no one was going to save him Arius determine himself to not give up! and in a calculated attempt at coming out of this alive Arius took a kobold by surprise and charged it straight on! but with its, composure back, and shock missing, the kobold sidestepped Arius before lunging in for the kill!

expecting this Arius was already in a position to take the kobold out. with the successful kill, there were 2 more kobolds about to jump him when Arius turned to them with the determination of a king, no... an emperor on his face as he had one arrow in each hand and went for his final blows.

with five magic crystals surrounding him, Arius collected his treasure and ran like there were fifteen more kobolds about to chase him down. passing the fifth and fourth floors without stopping Arius finally stopped among a sparsely populated hallway on the second floor.

*I'm never going into the dungeon without being more prepared ever again*

lingering on the second floor of the dungeon for not a bit longer, Arius started to climb his way back to the surface, not stopping at the exit but climbing up to the third floor of the tower of Babylon, Arius came to a stop in front of a clean but deserted looking shop.

walking in and looking around for a bit, Arius could find many odd items and scrappy pieces of armor. Walking down his last lane Arius saw the first clean-looking thing in this entire shop, a set of light armor! while defiantly not going to cut it for him he recognized the craftsmanship to be Welf Crozo's a good friend of Bells in the manga.

*but why is it so bad? shouldn't he be at least slightly competent ~sigh~* diverting his gaze after realizing this piece of armor wasn't useable and was more of a scrap product, Arius continued his look even going into many more shops before finding nothing he wanted.

in his conquest to find decent lite armor Arius looked in his SP shop, finding tons of quality items that were way out of his price range or he was just short of the perfect set, Arius came up with a 'brilliant' idea. *I could just make my own armor!!* thinking this was a great Idea without even thing out anything Arius rushed back to the twilight manor and asked around if there was any way he could learn to forge armor.

the responses Arius received were not the best, to say the least. some familiar members laughed thinking he was joking, others took him seriously and told him to seek Loki for help. then there were people like Bete, "why'd ya join in the first place if you don't even plan on being an adventure! if you want to sit in a dusty old shop all day why didn't you just go to the Hephaestus Familia ya Little twerp!" actually that was only Bete, but not being bothered by him, Arius found Loki and asked *hey Loki I know you should be busy, but why is it that whenever I'm in trouble your always there?*

completely ignoring Arius's question Loki stated "I've heard you have been wanting to get into smithing all the sudden. why?"

Arius was straightforward as usual. "I was looking at armor in the tower of Babylon and found it all either too expensive or of bad quality. so I came up with the brilliant idea to craft my own equipment"

"Hephaestus please save me" was all Loki responded with to Arius's absurd request.
