Kaia continued to dance with Alex upon request. His words made her think back to when they married. She looked up at him smiling as she softly nodded. "Yea, we never did get the chance…I think I was too worried about you at first. As we we spent more time together it reminded me of when we were in high school. So I was able to open up a bit more."She said as they swayed across the floor.
It was like all the world around them melted away. It was just them. Their feelings that they kept hidden for so long were resurfacing, and nothing could stop it. Kaia's heart fluttered as she looked up seeing Alex's face so close. He changed his hairstyle but it suited him so well.
Alex spun Kaia around as if she was a princess, a wide grin spreading across his face as he pulled her back into him. The feelings they shared and felt, both of them wanted the moment to last forever. Something inside of her emerged though. A hint of worry. He was going to get married… He was engaged and yet they were flirting like highschool children.
Seeing the expression on Kaia's face change Alex cocked his head to the side exhaling softly. "Don't worry about anything. It's just us right now… Don't think about anything else."He said in a whisper tone. He just wanted to see her smile. He liked her smile so much, it was as if all of his worries drifted away when he looked into her smiling face.
Kaia looked at him and took a deep breath before nodding softly with a smile. She blushed ever so lightly. "I did miss you… I had Naomi send reports and pictures… I wanted to know you were doing okay, and to make sure you weren't hurt again." She spoke her mind without thinking.
Alex blinked as he swirled her around more, his arms tightened as he pulled her close to him. "I wasn't hurt physically but without you I died on the inside…" He whispered nuzzling the top of her head with a small sigh.
Kaia frowned leaning into his warmth. She didn't want this to end, not again. Zac was right. Why give up without even trying. Kaia took a deep breath her arms reaching up to gently touch his arms, before wrapping them around his frame. " I was threatened…,"She said softly with a sigh. Alex blinked in shock, her words making him stop in his tracks. He pulled away to look at her in the face. "Threatened? By who?"He asked his expression becoming serious.
Kaia looked down lightly before moving away from him rubbing her arms lightly. "The person who shot you, he was hired to by an inside source. They wanted me gone. The person found out about our marriage and went straight for you knowing that you were more important to me than anything…"She said carefully to not say to much at once. Alex looked at her frowning lightly.
Everything made since now. Alex stepped forward his arm grabbing Kaia's as he pulled her into another hug. He held her tightly in his arms thinking of everything she must have been through.
Kaia looked down relaxing into his embrace. "I'm sorry Alex, I should've relied on you more, but at that moment I didn't know what to do. I didn't plan to be away for so long." She said choking back the lump that resided in her throat.
Alex took a moment before telling her to relax. He gently stroked her hair as he began to sway again. "You were scared, I understand. There wasn't much I could have done unconscious anyways… Then you must've found out about Alexa and that made it even worse. You were probably worried about getting her on the persons radar as well…"He said before pulling away, grabbing her hands. Kaia looked up at him her eyes welling up. It was as if he was reading her mind, he was always good and knowing her feelings.
As the night came to an end. Alex and Kaia both went and put Alexa to sleep. Zac left the house going back to the hotel. He wanted them to reconnect; that and he got in touch with (The Hacker) and found a piece of information that could be very useful, but they needed to dig deeper into it to make sure everything was correct.
Alex and Kaia, made sure Alexa was sound asleep before sneaking out to the living room sitting on the couch. Kaia made them some hot chocolate and they sat on the couch under a single blanket as they talked, just like their wedding night.
Kaia leaned her head on the back of the couch looking at Alex. "I'm happy to have a friend like Naomi, She sent me so many pictures of you and Alexa together. I framed one of them. I keep it in my room, in the side drawer,"She said which made Alex tilt his head in curiosity. "Which one is it?"He asked with a small smile. Just hearing this made him realize just how much Kaia really thought of him. He still wanted to know who it was that threatened her but he didn't want to push her into a corner and lose her all together.
Kaia stood from the couch going into her room. A few seconds later she came out with a small frame in her hand. She returned to the couch placing the blanket over herself once again before handing the picture to him. It was the picture of him and Alexa. Alexa was still an infant and they were asleep at his desk. The very first picture Naomi took of the two. Alex blinked looking over the photo. "Whha-, I didn't even know of this one!" He smiled softly as he was thinking back on that day.
Alex then returned his gaze to Kaia. "That was the first day I met her, something inside of me told me to keep her near… And I did. I wouldn't let Naomi have her back at all."He chuckled lightly and all Kaia could do was smile in return.
Alex tilted his head as he gazed at Kaia. At this moment all he wanted to do was hold her and shower her with affection. Alex shifted himself a bit closer as he leaned into Kaia. He gently set the frame down next to him before lifting his hand to gently touch her cheek. "You're a brave, wonderful woman. Thank you, for not dying on me…"He said in a soft whisper as he leaned in more.
Kaia blushed at his words and seeing him come closer made her heart fluttered. She wanted this man more than anything. Even though she knew she shouldn't she couldn't help but lean into his gaze. They inched closer and closer their nose barely touching before Alex's phone went off.
They both flinched and quickly moved away from each other. Alex sighed and stood from the couch. "Excuse me, I'll be right back…" He said grabbing his jacket going to the front porch. He really didn't want to leave her but he knew if he didn't pick up things could get worse. He made his way out to the porch swing sitting down. He stared at the caller ID which read, Mi Sung.
