Troy rounded the corner, his eyes bloodshot.
Jake stared at Paulina, Paul's twin sister, as she struggled to unpin herself from the wall. Two of his underlings laughed at the scene as they stood on either side of him. It was a little bit strange, the abilities of these two siblings. Paul was an introvert, and his ability was to become invisible, unseen. Paulina on the other hand had supreme charm. She was weak, physically, and basically useless in battle, but her looks, and her ability made anyone fall for her. She could charm basically anyone. Well, Jake was an anomaly and he was a natural psychopath. He had this "if I can't have you, no one else can" mentality.
Jake had golden hair that reached the back of his knees. He could manipulate his hair to any degree. He could make it longer, stronger, hard as nails, and he could shoot out sharp strands of hair, like a porcupine. He was one of the top students of this year because of the versatility of his abilities.
"Leave her alone, Jake!" Troy said, glaring at Jake.
All four of them turned to him.
"I see you called your mum, Paul." Jake said. His two goons laughed.
"Beat him up. I don't wanna kill anyone on the first day at school."
Kill?
The two goons charged at Troy.
What were their abilities? Well it didn't matter. As long as he didn't let them near him.
"Graviole: Reverse!" Troy said, activating his ability.
The two goons were lifted off the ground like feathers. It was like they had entered a zero gravity zone. They just floated harmlessly past him, into the waiting arms of Patricia. She was not so merciful.
She used her telekinesis to slam them on the wall, again and again, until they were unconscious, but still floating.
Troy didn't have time to think about them. He was too focused on Jake.
"Tsk. Those fools are useless. Have a taste of my hair, you kitty."
Kitty?
Jake's hair suddenly rose and spread out behind him. Troy was reminded of a peacock raising its tail feathers.
Then without warning, countless strands of hair, which were the size of nails, shot towards Troy.
"Graviole: times ten!"
The 'bullets' slammed into the ground as if they were suddenly attracted by a super powerful magnet.
Then Troy pointed at Jake, taking control of the gravity around him.
"Graviole: reverse!"
Jake immediately retracted his hair and stabbed it into the ground. It acted like an anchor, and prevented him from floating.
It was impressive, and a cool way to prevent being a floating duck, but it was only a delay. But Troy was in a good mood today.
"Graviole: times five!"
Jake instantly slammed into the ground with the grace of a boulder.
Troy grimaced at the sound of his bones cracking.
Maybe five was too much?
"Times three!"
Jake was still stuck in the ground and unable to move, but his bones had stopped creaking under the weight of the increased gravity.
"Troy! Watch out!" Eddie screamed.
Huh?
He felt the ground beneath him rumble. Before he could understand what was going on, a large spike appeared from the ground, aiming to stab him in the gut.
Troy had never felt so afraid in his life. He was going to die!!
But then, the strangest thing happened.
Paulina jumped into the way, earning an earth spike in her chest, in between her–
Shit!
"Graviole: inverse!!"
He was drawn to the ceiling, with Paulina in his arms, as the gravity around him got inverted, and the ground became ceiling and ceiling became ground.
He escaped being impaled by countless of those spikes by barely a hair's breadth.
His heart was beating furiously. If he was just a second late, he would have been skewered!
Who was so vicious to almost kill him, on the first day of school?!
He looked down at Jake. Jake was just standing up, and judging by his grimaces, a couple of his bones were broken.
He looked at the person behind Jake, and his heart went cold.
Jacinta Spikeson.
A second year.
What the hell was a second year student doing on the first floor?
Unless…
Jacinta Spikeson, Jake Spikeson.
Dammit! And Jake has the nerve to mock Paul for calling help.
Although Troy was among the best for this year's newcomers, he wasn't the best. Some newcomers were much stronger than he was. There was no way he could fight a second year!
Jacinta's hair fluttered as she silently pointed at Troy.
Troy was torn between fear and awe.
He had heard that by the end of one's first year in The Hero Academia, one should be able to activate abilities without speaking. And by the second year, they'd be able to master this skill. And by their final year, they would be able to activate their abilities with even their eyes closed!
"That's enough Jacinta." Eddie said.
Jacinta clicked her tongue.
"You're a disappointment, Eddie. Taking the side of these first years."
Huh?
Wait…Eddie was a second year cadet?
What the f–
"I saw what happened. Your brother is at fault." Eddie said calmly as if they were talking about the weather.
"I don't care who is at fault. Look what he did to my brother–"
"And look what you did to someone's sister!" Patricia screamed, pointing upwards towards Paulina who was bleeding from her chest.
If she didn't get medical attention soon, she had ten minutes at most.
"Take her to the nurse's office, Troy. I'll take things from here." Eddie said. He said it so calmly, it was as if nobody's lie was in danger.
"Graviole: inverse."
The gravity switched back to normal, and Troy landed behind Eddie.
"Graviole: minus!"
This ability him immune to the gravitational pull. But instead of reversing it, and making him float, it gave him the ability to fly.
He was about to zoom away from all the craziness when a wall of earth rose and blocked his path.
Dammit!
Jacinta was out for blood! And she would not be satisfied unless it was his!
Eddie clicked his tongue. "So I have to deal with you first?"
No answer. Only Jacinta's glare, which was not directed to him, but Troy.
"Have it your way."
He pointed his index finger towards Jacinta, while the said female just swung her arm in his direction.
Countless spikes made of earth emerged from the ground and started moving towards Eddie.
Meanwhile, the youngan in question had formed a ball of flame the size of a cashew nut at the tip of his finger.
What the hell was that supposed to do?!
Troy was about to go mad. If Eddie Peters didn't do something drastic soon, he would be skewered, and he didn't want to imagine what Jacinta would do to him.
When a particulaly large spike was inches away from stabbing his face, the cashew sized flame zoomed towards Jacinta and her brother.
Before anybody could think, an explosion rang out, shakiythe building, and unbalancing everyone. Troy and Patricia landed hard on their butts, coughing.
When the smoke cleared, Troy's eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
That part of the building was gone, annihilated, eviscerated, vanished!
They could clearly see the outside of the school.
Eddie had just destroyed almost half of the school building!
Troy couldn't hold it in any longer.
"WHAT THE FUCK???!!!"
