Bowdey woke up well rested. No pain, no feeling of the bond at all. He thought about the night before. How he felt before Makenna had shown up, then how he had begun to feel once she had gotten inside. Nothing made sense. He stood and began looking around the room. It was simple; but with a touch of elegance. Obviously fit to be a girl's bedroom. No windows, no pictures anywhere. He walked into the adjoining bathroom. Just as simple as the bedroom. A simple sink sat on a marble countertop. Walking back into the bedroom, the familiar scent hit him.
Bowdey walked downstairs slowly to the kitchen. There Makenna sat on the bar across from a skinny blonde. They were talking and laughing and he couldn't help but notice Makenna's beauty. Long dark, wavy hair hung down around her shoulder's, long legs were folded on the bar, strong muscular body. He shook his head suddenly. Now that he was feeling back to normal, he could take on two girls. What he planned to do after that, he hadn't given much thought. "Don't even think about it." Makenna said, never turning her attention towards him. "You may have your strength back, but the bond has more effects that just feeling each other's pain." "How do you know about the effects of the bond?" Bowdey asked giving up on his sneak attack and moving to lean against the counter beside the fridge.
"Me and Mara have been reading all night to try and figure out a way to break it." "And?" He asked. "I don't think you can break it." The blonde, Mara said. "What? What the hell do you mean it can't be broken?" "Relax "Hunter". I thought for sure when you went to the Silver Wolves, that they would be able to do something." Mara continued. He sighed, dropping his arms. "How far are we from my neck of the woods?" "You can't leave." Mara said flatly. "Why the hell not? You think you can keep me here?" He smiled a sarcastic smile towards Makenna. "From what I've read, it says the bond is stronger when we are together. The farther we get from each other, the weaker we both get. Both of us. So until we figure out a way to break it or whatever....you might as well get comfy here because even if you try and leave, you wouldn't make it back without killing both of us." Makenna sighed. He wasn't sure how, but he knew the longer they were forced to be together because of this stupid bond, the worse things were going to get.
"We've asked for all of you, because we need you're help. As you know already, half breeds are unpredictable and dangerous. They are nothing but trouble and Makenna is no exception. She has bound Bowdey and now taken him somewhere. It's time we get rid of these half breeds once and for all. Kill any of them that you find; but bring Bowdey back unharmed and he better be alive!" Deacon explained. All the Hunter's looked around at each other, then back to him. Tyler, Sky, Lea and Bowdey's sister stood behind him. "The time has come. We all knew this day....this war between us and the half breeds was coming. It starts with Makenna! Spread out and find him!"
Bowdey groaned, letting his head fall onto the table. Hour after hour, reading and studying. For nothing. All it had gotten him currently was aggravated and a headache. He turned his attention back to the the book he had been reading as Makenna sat a plate of food in front of him. He looked up questioningly at her. The plate was full of freshly cooked green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread and macaroni and cheese. "I figured you were getting hungry. Don't think of anything more than it is." She sighed, sitting down with her own plate. "And what would that be?" Bowdey asked sarcastically. "I mean we are forced to be together because of this stupid bond and I literally can't kill you until it's broken so I might as well try and be civil. Just for now; but don't worry. I still don't like you." Bowdey laughed. It was the first time he had honestly laughed for as long as he could remember. "What are you laughing at?" "You don't like me but your being nice to me." Makenna rolled her eyes, but she couldn't hide the smile that formed on her lips. Once finished eating, he slowly stood up; taking his and her plate and going back to the kitchen to wash them. Makenna had moved to the living room, as he joined her, dropping down on the couch beside her. He smirked at her and she huffed. "What?" He laughed. "What are you doing?" Makenna glared at him. "Nothing. I'm just sitting here. Why am I bothering you?" He smiled again. "Yea you are! I told you I don't like you. Nothing has changed just because I fixed you food." "True but if we are gonna be forced like this for who knows how long, you might as well tell me more about yourself." She looked at him quizzically. "The hell I am telling you anything about me." She huffed again. "Oh come on Makenna. I am trying to lighten the mood a little." Finally she sighed and turned facing him. "Fine. What do you want to know?" "Anything." She thought for only a second before she spoke.
"I used to want to be a ballarina. I can remember before I found out I was immortal, that my mother would spend countless amounts to send me to dance classes and I was good at it. It was my dream to become a dancer. When I was a teenager, right before I got a scholarship to Julliard and I can remember my mother was so happy. Maybe even happier than I was. We had finally done it." Bowdey watched her somberly. "I woke up the morning I was supposed to move into my apartment, sick and fighting to catch my breath. The worst pain I had ever felt. When I looked in the mirror I knew. My eyes had changed colors, and I had fangs.....I didn't have the heart to tell her. I think she already knew though; because she always would say things that you wouldn't in ordinary conversation." "Wait..you really were human?" She looked at him curiously. "Yea my mom was married to a vampire for a few years and I was the result." Makenna looked down embarrassed. "I thought you were half siren?" Bowdey asked. "What?! You thought I was half mermaid?" Now she laughed. "Wait so....."Bowdey cut off. "I'm half vampire, that's it." She said slowly. Bowdey stood suddenly, pacing the floor. It didn't make sense. He was sure about her. He stopped suddenly, looking at her. "Wait....if your only half vampire....then how in the hell are we bound together? I think we need to start looking into my family's history."
