One week has passed since the clingy baby, Fang Muiren decided to stick like a shadow to his family.
Allocating 3 days for his mother starting from when he woke up from the 'nightmare'. And each 2 for his father and sister. It's not that his biased to his mom, okay?
It's just that his mom was the one he knew he hurt the most. When he was a child, he used to frequently have an episode.
He would be stuck in the same nightmare. He always hurt himself, banging his head to stop the voices. He was a small light in a big dark room full of giants with a big mouth.
They would shout at him for being useless, a pussy, trash, and more insults. Slowly he would turn dim and darker as the voices would be louder and louder.
During the times when he experienced some episodes before, his mom would bear the pain alone since his dad and sister are both out of work.
He would hurt her. He scratched her, trash around and screamed at her to go away, but his mom would always stay. Patiently waiting for him to calm down or to fall asleep.
His mom is a housekeeper of the house 2 streets away. While his dad, works as an assistant to the President of a Real Estate Company and his sister is a full time make-up artist of a big entertainment company.
Mother Miao would always come at her break to cook or clean at the house. You could guess that she'll be present when some trauma episodes happen, it actually got worse when he starts going to puberty.
It started when he got into a big accident that caused him to lose his eyesight.
He's not born blind or got an illness that affected his sight. On the contrary, he's an unusually healthy baby.
He's a very energetic and curious kid, he loves to ask every question he could think of to the point the adults just start giving him books so he could self-learn.
He likes it of course, especially when they praise him as a smart and lovable kid. It's also the same to his classmates when he started schooling.
You could say that he's the most popular extrovert in the whole school, he knows at least 5 people per class and a teacher per grade.
His blindness was caused by a big accident when he was 8. His blindness was only supposed to be temporary but because of his trauma it took him half a decade before he could properly function and by the time he's okay for treatment , it's a little bit late and he doesn't want treatment anymore.
Well, for today he decided to stop clinging to them for a while.
A week is already enough for him to accept that this is somehow real, he also remembers some tiny pieces of memories from the dream where he spoke to someone.
He can't completely remember it but it's enough for him to conclude that this might be real.
Though a part of him is still incline that he's inside some abhorrent and being used as a nutrient while feeding to his fantasy.
"Mom, I'm going out for a while."
Mei Miao was shocked. It's not that she doesn't want to let her son go out but he's been tailing her like a shadow ever since he had a nightmare.
She recovered and said some reminders to him.
"Remember to wear the UI glasses or you could take Shu, she's been missing you and quite restless."
Fang Muiren nodded and went to his room taking out the UI glasses from the night table's drawer.
UI glasses are customized glasses made for people with eye disabilities. It's glasses with some function to help people with eyesight problems and blind ones.
It works like graded glasses for people that are farsighted, nearsighted, astigmatism, etc. but with less negative effect and can actually slowly help them recover somehow their actual eyesight.
But for blind people, it was an object that works like a service animal. Reminding them if they're crossing, if they should stop walking, danger ahead and so on, most would use it to places animals are not allowed or when people couldn't help them.
As useful as it is, It's just very expensive.
A clear IU for people with eyesight problems like farsightedness, near sighted or astigmatism and more. A black or dark glasses for blind people, the color helps people differentiate and know what services an UI owner needs.
"Shu! come here baby! Shu! Tsu tsu tsu!" He shouted and clicked his tongue calling their dog. He called a few times before hearing an excited bark coming from the back of the house.
Smiling, he opened his arms awkwardly and waited to be tackled by the big dog.
"Woof! woof! woof! Ha..ha..ha..woof!"
"Ack! Ouch..shu, you're really excited? Heeee.... who's my favorite baby? my one and only? hehehe...I miss you..muah!muah!"
Chuckling and rubbing Shu, even kissing her a few times. Shu answered with loud woof and licking him.
Fang Muiren sighed and hugged her tightly, he missed her so much. Shu turned to an infectee the day after he found out about the apocalypse.
"My girl, do you miss me? hmm? Let's go out for a walk. Come." Shu released herself from his hug and left him. He was quite confused but gets it when he feels something touching his hand. It was a leash.
"Woof! woof! woof!" He smiled. Carefully putting the leash in Shu's collar. He tugged it afterwards and exited the house, not forgetting to take his walking cane from the rack near the door.
"Don't forget your mask. Patrol may arrest you. Be safe out there, come back before dinner." He grunted as an answer and took one mask from the mask dispenser at the door before opening it.
Countless noises welcomed him. After 16 years, who would have thought he would experience the busy street again? Where the people are busy living, enjoying and working. He didn't know that the sound of people chattering, vehicle's horn and sounds of engine would make him relaxed and excited.
Clicking his tongue, he shook Shu's leash before walking letting her guide him. He touched the UI glasses and pressed the voice command.
"Mark the Wellins as my destination."
[ Beep. Command set. Please follow the voice. ]
Fang Muiren smiled and followed the direction given by the glasses while letting Shu guide him.

Wellins — it's a famous store that is for people with disabilities. They stream movies, simulation, VR games, and such that is adjusted for them.
It would be his first destination for today. Today he will tour around the city, It's been a long time since he experienced this kind of peace.
Even in pre-apocalypse, he was busy at academics and had no time to play around. He will always find something to be busy on.
"The man and the woman please."
The movie he chose is a romantic comedy film made by a quite well known director and starred by a famous and popular real life couple.
There are a lot of movies, particularly horror and apocalyptic themes, but he's had enough of them and doesn't want anything to do with them.
The cashier said okay and then typed something; he heard a printing sound before the cashier took his hand and placed the ticket in it.
"The screening is in 10 minutes; while you wait, I'll have you guided in the lounge."
Fang Muiren nodded and followed the cashier's instructions. It's a shame he can't look around; Wellins must be a lovely place. Whenever they came here, his mother always praised the place.
Taking a seat, he frowned as he heard some muffled voices coming near him.
"I am a person with disabilities! Can you see this?! I have every right to enter this establishment! I am a pwd!"
"Of course I can see very well ma'am! But as per the company policy we have to comply... that is not something I can just bypass just because yo—"
"This is why I don't talk to people like you! My gosh what is so hard to understand huh?! Call the manager!"
He heard a frustrated sigh and low tsk. Looks like the employee is losing his patience, the customer has a BIG attitude.
"Of course, no problem ma'am. Let me just call her for a bit.....gosh, what pwd she just broke her leg..."
Fang Muiren cough when he heard that. The customer seems really, really has a BIG attitude if that is true. As if she heard her mumbles the woman roared again.
"Damn! This guy has some nerve! Did you say something huh?! Do YOU even know me?! Stupid shit."
Ah, he forgot people like this still exists. They usually learn things in a VERY hard, brutal and cruel way.
He wonders when's the movie starting, the drama here seems more interesting.
