'Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened'
(Linq) recited in his mind as he laid staring at the dark ceiling, He lay on the floor in a frail building, Looking around him several other people were sleeping.
As the poem pointed he already died. He used to be an old man. He lived fighting for a "better" life but at the end nothing mattered in front of death, Rich or poor death doesn't care. Now he realizes he should've enjoyed life a bit instead of obssesing over a good future. His name now is "Antara", He transmigrated three days ago into the body of a frail young kid, He only received some bits of Anatara's memories, His parents were dead and as so he lived at the "Town Talents Raising Center" or in more realistic words an orphanage. The town mentioned is a small community of several hundreds of people all blood related, As it was apparent that in this world blood ties mattered the most. Tomorrow was a ceremony called aptitude measuring In the days he's been here he wasn't allowed to leave because it was thought that the youths would receive blessings from their ancestors in these days and so they shouldn't be disturbed or at least not until they passed the ceremony.
"Aptitude measuring huh? In the days I've been here nobody explained to me what the word aptitude meant in this context. aptitude for what? Intelligence? Leadership? I guess I'll find out in the morning. If it requires fighting and having to waste my precious youth then no thank you I would be good living as a regular farmer or craftsman since this world doesn't seem so advanced almost at the antiquity era level of progress from earth, alright goodnight to me."
(In The Morning)
Antara woke up did his bed as he was instructed and then cleaned the sleeping room with the other kids and after having a cheap breakfast of hard bread and water he went to the front door of the building, There he found a tall middle-aged woman standing, This is Madam Layla, The person responsible for the talents raising center, "Line up children, Time is up". 'Normally she doesn't appear from what I heard, but today seems like a big day', As they walked out Antara could finally see the town fully, He was only able to see a glimbse from the windows but now as he walked across he could see that the ground was muddy with no pavement and the buildings were simple wooden and bamboo buildings the tallest were 2 floors, but although the town looks antique there was no smell of piss or excrements which makes it obvious that the town citizens had good hygene. After a 30 minutes walk they arrived infront of the largest building Antara has seen yet, It was a tall building resembling old townhalls in medieval northern europe but way bigger in size, In front of it 11 people were standing, and surrounding the kids were what seemed the town's people gathering to witness the aptitude measuring ceremony, Then other children joined up to the perform the ceremony and from their clothing and the size of the village it seemed that there was no other talents raising center so they must be the children who still have parents that take care of them, Among thee 11 people the person in the centermost walked forward for a few steps and started speaking "This year our Banu Amr clan is receiving a blessing from our ancestors, As in the last 20 years we haven't witnessed an aptitude ceremony with this many young heroes participating in, As you passed the age of 12 each one of you has to responsibly take lead and carry the responsibilities of the clan for everyone to prosper, For it is in the benefit of the clan that our ancestors see our work and bless us with even a better future, and most importantly now that you are 12 already, You are at the perfect age to start cultivating to create the future that our ancestors all look forward to, Our Banu Amr clan goes back to a long history of 1000 years and the longer it goes the more it shall prosper, Praise Be Ancestor Amr, The originator of the clan and the father of all Banu Amr clansmen, I shall not make it any longer, Commence The Ceremony!".
