The crashing sounds didn't stop, and they were awful to hear. The whole UFO, whatever we were trapped in, began to tilt to one side. I panicked, grabbing the wall as best as I could. The metal wrapped around my legs cut into my skin. I could already feel the hot blood flowing.
Despite my soar throat, I shouted out, "Someone get me out of here! My legs are ... my legs are gonna break!"
Break, probably not. But I didn't want any of my major blood vessels sliced. If Mother had any common sense to keep her "baby" alive, she would come in here and release me.
Sweat trickled down from my forehead all the way to my lower back. How high up were we again? Could this disc in the sky β this spaceship β really survive whatever beating it was obviously taking?
And what was tearing the metal to shreds?
I had to know. Craning my neck to try to look down the hallway didn't help. My vision barely made it around the corner of the open doorway.
