Aidan gritted his teeth and hurried to throw the last four men.
Feval, Kalukaga, and Sofiel were also throwing people over the ravine. Sofiel used her wind power of course.
Siraye and Ledrind were already on the other side. Both of them didn't seem to have the power to bring people over.
Aidan threw the last men away. The stomping of beasts was near. And he was minutes away from being swarmed.
"It's time to leave, Aidan!" Feval jumped over. Kalukaga followed.
Aidan nodded. Just as he was about to jump over, gigantic bones rose from the ravine, blocking his way.
Oh no!
Aidan stepped back. The beasts were rushing in his direction. There was no way to escape.
What should he do?
His heart raced. His body went hot and cold as he scrambled his head for a solution. Nothing.
There was no way out!
Aidan turned back. The ground raged as the horde stomped their way towards him.
He took a deep breath. If there was no way out then he would fight to till his last breath.
Clenching his fist, he stared at the beasts. "Bring it on!"
Red energy floated behind the horde. It burst and the shaman appeared once again.
That's my target.
He knew that it was impossible to kill the shaman. But Aidan wanted to hit him at least once.
Aidan stomped the ground, roared, then dashed forward. Fate energy rolled and surged all over his body. It went to his feet and Aidan crossed the forest in rapid strides, weaving through bites and claws. His eyes were locked toward the shaman.
Just one hit was enough. He'd die anyway.
But, Aidan had underestimated him too much.
BANG!
The shaman hit the ground with his staff, and Aidan's feet dug themselves to the ground. He was rooted.
Damn!
Aidan gritted his teeth as he dodged a bite attack.
He tried to release himself while fighting the beast, but there were too many of them.
One beast bit his arms. A sharp pain ran deep inside his bone. Aidan screamed in pain as he hit the beast to release his arm.
Another beast clawed his back. The attack brought a sharp pain to his spine and he couldn't help but scream in pain.
Aidan surged his fate energy.
[Internal Healing]
His wound glowed and healed itself in almost an instant.
But then a pair of beasts chomped on both of his arms, locking them. Aidan tried to yank them but to no avail.
The shaman approached. His staff thumping against the ground with every step.
Aidan stopped struggling and stared at him. He was more hideous to look at up close. At first, he thought the skull on his face was a mask, looking closely, it was the entire head. Hollow eyes radiating dark-red energy, glowing brightly as they glanced at him.
The shaman raised his left root-like arms. The fingers were long and sharp, seemingly designed to stab like the proboscis of a mosquito.
Is he going to suck my blood?
The possibility scared him. But there was nothing he could do.
The hand approached, getting bigger and bigger until it filled his sight.
Aidan closed his eyes. The sight of his mother appeared in his mind, beckoning him to come.
I'm coming, mother.
The image disappeared, bursting like a bubble. Aidan was confused, then he opened his eyes. The shaman retracted his hand and stepped back, staring at the sky.
The beasts released his arm and howled. One of them turned into a giant beast, bigger than the rest, and the shaman hopped onto it. They dashed away like they were running from something.
What happened? Aidan thought.
"THERE YOU ARE!" A voice boomed in the sky. It was the voice of an angry mother. But not Aidan's mother.
Where did that voice come from?
The sky rippled and cracked. A small vortex formed absorbing the cracks. Then it got bigger as it spun around, sucking in more cracks inside. Then the vortex shook, sending a shock wave of fate energy all over.
It was so violent that some of the trees snapped and fell. Aidan narrowed his eyes as he tried to look past all the dirt blown by the wind.
Gigantic ships came out of the vortex. It was like the warp gates back on earth, but the ships were different.
It was made similar to a ship in the sea instead of a spaceship. The materials seemed to be made out of wood, except it flared and radiated out thick purple energy. He saw so many huge amethyst crystals embedded on its hull. The bow had a giant face of a golem made out of dark-grey, glittering stone. On top of its head was a luxurious coronet.
At the tip of the bow, he saw a woman and a child looking down toward the ground.
"Commander, I want that shaman death. And while you're at it, clear everything too. I don't want any of them to return."
Her voice boomed.
She was quite far away in the sky, so the fact that Aidan could hear her was surprising…
"Yes, your grace," a male voice said.
Are they one of the nobles?
A man with tight clothes walked to the tip of the bow. "Shaman from the Ibilis Sektasi! You have violated the rules of Bleassephere University by harming the students and angering the family members of Duke Kanend Ramthall. His grace's wife, Thenna, and his son Nedwern are greatly disturbed by your presence. As ordered by my grace, I shall set upon a punishment for your existence. And the only fitting punishment for a being like you is—DEATH!"
The hulls of the ships opened with a clack, and numerous golems made out of glittering gold poured out.
The earth thundered as they landed. These golems had a bright amethyst crystal on their heads. And their designs were bulky and full of strength.
And apparently, they were fast too.
Fate energy blasted out of them, shaking the trees as their feet leaped from the ground.
Their speed was much faster than the adult bird that wanted to eat him the first time he came into this world.
