Valder was now serving dinner to 7 large wolves and 9 compact little foxes. It reminded him of meals with Kira in his safehouse. And he found himself once again thinking about her.
He needed to get her out of his mind and focus on his mission. But that was easier said than done. Everything seemed to remind him of her. and of course, serving dinner for a large group of strange dogs made it even more difficult to refrain from thinking about Kira.
He was also concerned about Wraith and Esmeralda. Well, Esmeralda anyway. He knew Wraith could take care of himself.
His guests finished what was in their bowls and looked at him with sad eyes.
