The morning passed in uneventful silence. Rowena and Daimon both dreaded attending the religious ceremonies, but they had no choice in the matter. Rowena still experienced strange side effects from the rituals but was at a loss to explain precisely what it was that bothered her so.
At any rate, she was grateful as always when it ended.
"Finally." She muttered when it was all over.
She blushed when she heard Daimon chuckle. "I'm just…" she didn't know what she wanted to say.
He interrupted her. "Shall we go visit the High Priest and get those religious materials you wanted?"
"Yes, thank you." She replied grateful for the interruption. She didn't why she was embarrassed. Daimon knew she was uncomfortable with the Empire's religion. And she knew he wasn't a believer. So, why was she acting so foolish?
