The day proceeded at a glacial pace. Diplomats offered their taxes, tithes, tributes, and gifts to the Imperial Couple. Daimon then had the Minister of State record the items in the Imperial Ledger as they were announced by each delegation. The detailed accounts included the amounts and types of items or currency, their monetary value, and full descriptions of the items presented.
Occasionally, Rowena would write a note to Daimon if the tax amounts did not match the required sums they were assigned. Daimon would then inquire of the representatives the reason for the discrepancy and give them an opportunity to fix it.
Inquiries into such inaccuracies were always met with much begging for forgiveness of the 'oversight' and promises to immediately rectify the situation. The Minister of State had specific economic penalties assigned to those who make accounting 'mistakes.' Any attempt to defraud the Empire could cost a vassal-state dearly.
