Daimon left Rowena early to ensure that preparations were satisfactorily made for the day's luncheon. He had taken a personal interest in ensuring that everything was safe for his mother-in-law. In actuality, he'd taken such an interest in ensuring his wife's safety since the day they married. He didn't trust anyone but Zhan and Killian. And he was concerned that his enemies would try to harm Rowena in order to get to him.
He'd also sent word to Zhan and Killian to meet with him here before the luncheon. He had something he wanted to discuss with them.
