She smiled charmingly. "As you wish."
With that he placed the creature and its bed in a safe place. The other dogs were curious about it, but he didn't want them to disturb it. So, he placed it on the counter out of their reach. It remained sleeping peacefully as its pulse and breathing were now steady.
Then he began to cook.
Kira watched him with great interest. His movements were fluid and effortless. There was grace and power in the way he moved.
He withdrew a wicked-looking knife from a drawer and used it with remarkable efficiency. He deftly sliced off strips of meat that he'd removed from a large sack.
She hadn't even realized that he'd hunted before arriving at the safehouse. She marveled at the amount and variety of meats he had contained in the sack. And they were fresh.
She didn't even notice it when he'd arrived, so concerned was she with the condition of the creature he'd rescued.
